^^^ where did you get that info?
anyone got the official notes on this?
From the blog post:
yay patch finally
except u gotta download the whole game again
Well the menus still lag in the PS3 version offline, and I had a person disconnect from me because the game was extremely lag filled, and I had to restart the game after that as every time I started a match it would disconnect no matter what.
I almost always play the XBL version because of PSN specific issues but I thought I’d test it to see if the patch helped. Not really impressed so far.
And there is no possible way T.Hawk’s 720 command has been fixed. If you empty jump to your opponent and enter the 720 motion ending the motion in back or down back…a dragon punch comes out…
Hey, yeah, long time! Moved out to CO about a year ago now. I’d love to play him, and whoever else, but I don’t have a stick for 360 though, so I’m over on PS3. That’s my point tho, it sounds like he’s just a great Gief player, but to me what that shows is that 1. Gief himself was already more than totally capable of being a great character with all his moves left untouched, and 2. The implementation of easier controls was all he needed to accomplish what Sirlin supposedly was trying to do, which was to make him more accessible to people who didn’t put in the time to learn, or were physically incapable of learning Gief’s moves.
The control changes made Gief easier to play for the masses in HDR, great! The changes of all his specials, IMHO, is what pushes him into that way overcompensated for category. I think the fact that there are players like the person you and James mention, Kuni, Kei in NJ, and others, who were able to dominate overall with Gief in vanilla ST shows that his moves were just fine the way they were, and the only change that should have been made was those easier motions, as that’s all that was holding people back from using him to his full potential in the first place.
Anyway, it’s probably all a completely moot point, as I’m kinda skeptical of getting any type of game play issue patch after seeing one patch come along that didn’t address anything regarding Akuma even after Sirlin has stated Akuma’s not working as intended, especially when some obviously broken non game play things weren’t addressed in this patch. Imagine tho we got a patch where the only thing changed was to put those easier inputs into classic mode, maybe one or two obvious “fixes”, (like Guile’s upside down kick being an overhead since that’s what it looks like, MAYBE leaving the new no knockdown Vega wall dive if you want to get crazy, and umm, well nothing else really lol) now THAT would have made for a beautiful game! I can dream can’t I?
awesome.
basicly… no more slowdown at the beginning of the round
all the disconnecting ass scrubs came back
3/5 matches in ranked fucking sucks ass
that is all
Very gay. Who’s bright idea was it to go with 3/5? When did this suddenly become standard?
So did this patch improve anything? So far, in the 10 minutes I’ve had it, I’ve been able to connect once, lost connection while trying to connect 3 times, and had the whole game completely freeze with a black screen twice. Is this thing for real?
Ok, so I’ve been testing the patch on the PS3 for about an hour, and this is what I’ve found out so far:
-
The ranking system has not been reset. (I’m not sure if this is supposed to come a bit later, but I was under the impression that once I updated to version 1.01 my game scores and ranking would be started anew.) I can’t attest as to whether this means that my rating is still frozen at 0 because the scores for my games have yet to update.
-
I’m still getting a lot of disconnects. Some have been “network errors” and some have been “a player disconnected.” It’s certainly possible that some of those were ragequits, but I doubt they all were. Additionally it is also possible that it’s just my internet connection. Again I have my doubts considering how SFHDR is the only game that keeps dropping me during netplay.

The first time I joined a room on friendly mode, everything seemed to be fine. I chose a room (they weren’t all full as usual) and I started to play with little/no lag (ping set at 91) Unfortunately 8 games into my win streak I was randomly disconnected. When I go back in and try and find another room it’s showing me that all the rooms full!!!
I’d like to believe that over the next few days this will all be sorted out…but as of right now I am not very hopeful. I’d like to see some postings by others, so that I might gauge whether these problems are the norm, or whether it’s just me.
Anyone else getting horrid slowdown about 30 seconds or so into pretty much every game they’ve played? It’s as if they took that slight slowdown that was at the beginning of a match (PS3 version only supposedly?), moved it somehow to the middle of a match, around the 55-60 second mark, and now the slowdown is 100 times worse than that opening slowdown. Seriously, does this stuff get tested at all, or is that supposed to be considered our privilege after we pay for the game?
It’s free PSN netplay, dawg.
I am assuming the XBL patch will be a lot better, cus that one sounds pretty crappy (not a fanboy of Xbox at all, their hardware breaks like a motherfucker, I have to spend 20 minutes getting my xbox to read a disc.)
No, I can’t blame it on PSN, this problem didn’t exist at all before this patch. I’ve been asking a few other people that I’ve never had problems with, and they’ve been having the same issues, so it’s definitely something in this patch that has this game now bordering on completely unplayable.
Can’t ppl just go back to ggpo?
HD Remix is SO bunk. I am at the point where I don’t care about any of the character tweaks. I just want to shit to work without any BS.
I actually thought that slowdown mid-match was because I was playing people so far away but yeah, it’s definitely an annoyance that wasn’t there before.
How come I’ve never seen you on GGPO, fatboy? Some solid folks still play there at times.
Yea, I need to figure out how to use GGPO. Unfortunately people aren’t going to bail on this game until if/when the powers that be at SRK come to the realization that this game is garbage, otherwise people will play it just to practice for Evo. Maybe if enough other tournaments throw this thing away and go back to ST, Evo will be forced to follow suit. This patch makes the game completely unplayable online tho, with massive random slowdown, complete with 2-5 second pauses in the middle of matches. I’m also starting to wonder if it’s having issues dropping inputs, as things as simple as Sonic Boom seem to be a struggle to get out 1/2 the time. Perhaps that part is me, but I dunno, can’t say I’ve had an issue throwing a Sonic Boom since about 1992, so I’m leaning towards it’s either dropping inputs, or whatever this new patch has going on that’s causing the massive lag/pausing is messing with other things in the background too. Either way, the way it stands now, it’s barely even functional, (at least on PS3, I don’t have the game on 360 to try it out there), and this patch is a complete fail.
Are you PSN people forwarding the right ports and/or DMZing and what not? Pre-patch I didn’t have many connection issues with HDR (haven’t tried the patch yet), but the visual bugs really annoyed me. I’m hoping the connection issues are still minimal for me.
Personally I do, but you have to think about 99.9% of PSN users that have no idea what “port forwarding” even means.
Exactly right. This patch brought more problems than it solved. Random pauses and slowdown during matches makes this game unplayabe. And I still see random disconnects and rooms imploding. Ranked matches are best out of 5? WTF is that?:annoy:
Thank God for GGPO!
