Confirmed patch

Now that the patch is almost here, I can’t believe how much I’ve been patiently waiting. I’m so relieved!! Yes, I AM grateful, but they should’ve fixed Hawk’s Super glitch and not only Zangief’s Super glitch. Thinking about it now, that’s the biggest beef I have. But maybe, in fixing Zangief’s glitch, Hawk’s glitch was also fixed. Who knows? Maybe. I’m just happy the patch is here. = )

Well, I’m not aware of Haru Teyjo, or if I am I don’t know it, but I would find it hard to believe he’s not using anything Sirlin put in the game. If he uses Green Hand, any version of the Lariat, hop, SPD, or running Pile Driver, he’s using something Sirlin changed in the game, as practically every single move outside of normals that Gief has have been changed to be in his favor. He would have to beat you flat out with only normals (minus the hop move) to not be using any of Sirlin’s easy mode changes. I’m not saying the guy you mentioned was bad before, as I said, I’m not aware of him that I know of, but if he’s using any of the things I mentioned, he’s most likely having a way easier time than he used to advancing and doing damage, albeit unintentionally.

I’ll put it this way, when I know I’ve been able to consistently beat Kuni at 2 of the Evo’s I’ve been to, never lost to a Gief in my life in any tournament match, but now find it a massive uphill battle at best, and usually a “just let go of the controller and walk away” battle 75% of the time, yeah, I think he may have been just slightly overdone, to say the least. And unless Kuni for some reason has 20+ names on PS3, I get the feeling that a lot of people are finding Gief to be super easy win mode in this game. I’ve played some of these people in both classic and remix, and when the same person can’t touch me or practically anyone else in the room with a 45 foot pole in classic, but can dominate in remix easily, I dunno, to me that seems like ridiculous overcompensation. It’s like you said, changes were made on two different levels, which could in turn lead to disastrous results. There’s a difference between being competitive, and being overpowered, and when people who can wipe the floor consistently with Gief in remix can’t even come close to touching anyone in classic mode, to me that says the changes were just too much, and Sirlin and whoever else was involved dropped the ball by giving people who were already 1/4 competent playing Gief (which isn’t Sirlin) way too much to help them out, so yes, I think a great Gief has an advantage over great other characters, as all his changes now make it a much larger uphill battle to keep him out, and if enough people catch on to this, then I guess potentially that makes him higher/top tier potential, as it helped turn mediocre Gief players into godlike Gief players. If the concern was to make Gief more accessible by making controls easier, as it says in Sirlin’s blog, that’s one thing, but doing that, plus changing practically every move Gief has on top of it was too much. If we don’t agree on this point, then we don’t agree, to each their own :), but I think he’s an overpowered/overcompensated for mess that will only get worse in time. I also tend to think this of Honda, and Akuma just has to go already… just to break away from the Gief talk.

Agreed. The real HF kick lariat was easy to spot. There was no mistaking it for the punch lariat. I don’t think there would’ve been any harm in putting that exact move into HDR.

Indeed he can. He used to massacre everyone in ST on GGPO. It’s not that Gief is that great. Haru/Jodim is just a beast!

To be fair, HF did get a patch. Sadly it added more problems than it fixed. Most notably, the dreaded “Establishing Connection…” problems happened more often after the patch

Agreed. It’s one thing to release a game that has a few minor bugs and then patch it up a few months later. It’s another to do a public beta, then release a patch for the beta and extend the beta period, then release the game with many show-stopper bugs, some of which were present in the beta, and then to not release a patch for this long. That this happened after the game was delayed for a year due to art issues makes it even less understandable. To me though, the saddest part was that the patch wasn’t released before SF4.

Still, I am happy that the patch is just about here. I hope it does fix the major bugs and that word of mouth spreads and more people come back to play it. Technical issues aside, this game does kick ass! :wgrin:

I thought the patch launched already? I haven’t been prompted to dl it yet wtf.

lol @ this thread. akuma is to the US what o.sagat is to japan:rofl:

he’s fine…turtling with air fb’s is the only problem I have with him because the hitbox of that air fb…ughhh so fuckin annoying but not broken imo.

It’s not just the hitbox, it’s also the angle in which it descends at now. It’s still diagonal, but it has more of a downward motion for it, making it perfect for cross-ups when close (Especially now that he bounces when he uses it) and also for stopping projectiles dead on their tracks while jumping backwards. That thing may as well be an air-block at times.

And yeah, I still haven’t gotten the prompt to download the patch yet either. But whatever, it’s no biggie for me right now. I’m just going to go sleep on it and check it again in the afternoon tomorrow. Hopefully it should be out by then. I’m looking forward to trying the game out online again and hearing everyone’s first impressions on this game post-patch.

Patch is here. 303mb, took me a while to download.

Well, in 30 minutes of playing the patch (testing with claw’s fake wall dive and start colors), everything was cool. Then, the room collapsed for some reason (the screen just sits there for like 15 seconds and then starts to die match after match just as pre-patch).

Here are some stuff I checked out:

Lag: Feels the same. Definitely laggier than GGPO and 2DF. Definitely better than Kaillera. Good enough to get a rough sense of where you are, not good enough to prevent lag tactics from being effective.

  1. Yup. Didn’t experience any lifebar glitches.
  2. Seems that way. Using the start color all the time didn’t seem to affect anything.
  3. Yup. The friends scoreboard doesn’t crash anymore.
  4. No clue. I’m still at the top of the PSN scoreboard right now and that guy who had the glitched up 5000 score (which I believe is literally perfect if this is really using TrueSkill) has completely disappeared for a couple of days now.
  5. Seems that way. I spammed fake wall dives and that didn’t cause any issues. When the game crashed, I had long since moved from claw to random select.
  6. No. The lobby still contained full rooms that couldn’t be entered.
  7. Yup. Both Zangief’s super and Hawk’s super work on both sides with both motions.
  8. Yup. I don’t feel any more slowdown during the beginning of matches now.
  9. Yup. Just as in SFIV from both ranked and player matches.
    9-13. Didn’t try.

you sure about hawks super working from the right? its such bs when i have them ticked and i do the motion and i get a dp instead.

game still locks up for me.

sup man been a while…jodim is a beast and was doing all that stuff you listed without the easy mode commands in HDR…he doesnt really use any of the new stuff that sirlin put in the game. if you have some time you should definitely play him on xbl.

Sorry if its already answered, but how do we get that patch?
Thks.

just connect to live or psn and launch game

I think it got two patches actually. Honestly I think HF XBL never truly had Capcom backing, probably putting the financial strain of putting out manpower for addressing issues via patches. I don’t think UMK3 even got one patch

Sounds like this isn’t a patch, but the entire game in updated form. Don’t think I’ve seen that before.

^^Yup, it’s the entire updated game. Patch won’t work tho, unless the person you’re playing has also updated.

i thought they were resetting the scoreboards? still has my old, incorrect w/l and 0 rating. i did notice that when you do a scoreboard match it says how many w/l your opponent has now though, as opposed to just 0 and 0. not really sure why they changed it to 5 rounds for scoreboard, but it’s not a big deal i suppose. also the ‘recently played with list’ definitely works with psn now, i used it to laugh at someone to disconnected on me right before he lost twice in a row.

Just downloaded the patch myself as well, but a lot of the problems I won’t be able to test out until I’ve played the game extensively. I played some friendly lobbies earlier this morning in a room of four people and for the hour that I spent playing it, the lobby and the matches did seem stable, though I could just be lucky. Lag is still kind of there.

I played with T Hawk and Zangief for a little while and their supers seem to be fixed. I can confirm that both of them work from both directions (starting from b or f). Also, ticking into the supers was not a problem.

I hope Negative Edging is patched in by the time i get this game.

:wasted:

Still no patch for me.

xbl gets it in two days i’m pretty sure.
