And see, that’s what people have been complaining about. The ability to do walkup 720s with the new motion was intended to be a significant boost for Hawk, but it hasn’t quite worked out. Chen’s info seems really helpful in that regard, granted, but that neutral BS shouldn’t even be in the game to begin with.
I’m not the biggest fan of best of 5 either… but it does promote a more accurate ranking b/c I’ve seen way too many fluke best of 3 go to the way less skilled player. Best of 5 closes that gap.
LOL, but the ranked system is BS, so what does it matter anywho?
LOL… I thought this was part of the gaming environment… and I thought it was cool! I like it… thought it was intentional.
LOL, dude you’re fuckin’ coo-coo but yeah I can see how that would be entertaining… my girlfriend cringes when she hears “TIGER!” … makes her mad as hell.
God dammit:
That shit ain’t right. Ranked should match the arcade as close as it can. Best 3 out of 5 is complete bullshit.
Even worse, this will make scrubs think that best 3-out-of-5 is legit so they will start making more Quarter Match rooms 3-out-of-5. Nothing is more awesome than waiting 30 minutes to get your turn back in a 6 man room. Jesus.
After reading JimmyRey’s Blog more closely, it seems like they’re open to making balance changes in the future.
Did the patch already come out?
No. Couple of weeks
Well, while walking, you CAN do it normally without going to Neutral. It’s only some other positions that cause problems (I can’t remember which, it was like D/F or D/B or something). But for the most part, if you start the code from Forward or Back with Hawk, the code works. But it IS always safest to start it from neutral just to be absolutely sure. For example, if you are holding D/F and then SHIFT to only F to start walking, I dunno if that counts as “starting at D/F”.

Guess I jumped down to the actual patch notes too fast to notice that I was personally thanked. Someone else had to point it out to me. Heh.
Yeah…it does make sense that they’re trying to fix vs. screen disconnects cuz that’s where like 95 percent of all disconnects happen. Right after the vs. screen. It’s not in the middle of the match or anything like that so obviously something is corrupt with the game connecting both players at that time.
Hawk doesn’t even sound like he’s worth using in this game anymore.
You can still win with hawk no doubt. However, when ticking, unlike VST, you really wanna use jab typhoon only. FP seems way to iffy to even bother with besides punishment situations.
Funny, cause it seems like you T. Hawk players are just suckers for punishment.
wait what
I wouldn’t get too excited, frankly. This upcoming patch is the “free” one MS gives all developers - after this they start costing money. I don’t know the numbers but SFHD sales I’m sure have slowed down to a trickle, and further patches are probably going to be seen on a cost vs. increased sales basis.
Further, even if you didn’t like Sirlin’s choices for balancing, who’s left at Backbone to decide/implement those changes? Sirlin’s already burned those bridges so now we’re left with who? Seth Killian maybe if he decided to get involved.
I was hoping for Macros so the 3x punch & kick can be used.
But it looks like they focused on the online parts this patch and not the characters as much.
I’m reading Jimmyrey’s blog and he says “We” are fixing it.
Who’s “We”?
Does anyone know of a way to actually question these people?
Is it top players around the world they get together for game testing?
Urg, I hadn’t heard of that “feature.” Do you have a quick link that covers XBLA’s patch terms?
They kinda fired Sirlin…
Just keep it the way it is. If we need to ban Akuma, or if Fei Long never gets any tourney play, then that’s just going to be the way it is. Better than having someone come in and risk making it evenw orse.
But it doesnt HAVE to be this way Mech.
Lets not be afraid of change.
Why should a 400 lb sumo wrestler be easier to use than a Bruce Lee clone?
Does that make any sense?
I’m all for change…like Obama said.
I like your perspective
