Confirmed patch

Hawk is boned period in this game what a waste of a character. Minimal grab frames, broken commands, and other unintentional properties added to Hawk that aren’t addressed or acknowledged by Capcom.

Playing Hawk is so frustrating seeing as the command throws behave so erratically and getting a SUPER off successfully almost has to be an act of god or something. I know Hawk players we’ve gone over this all before but to have Hawk completely ignored in the patch especially when he shares the SAME EXACT Super command problem with Zangief is unreal to me.

But, this is just one patch, there might be another patch down the road.

And who knows? This patch might create as many problems as it solves meaning they’ll be forced to patch the game again meaning we can bombard Capcom with requests to actually make Hawk a playable character again.

Minimized? What about eliminated?

this is a dropped opportunity, I didn’t expect too many balance changes, but not adressing Akuma might just be the death of this game. Let’s all go back to VST, PLLLEEASSE.

You picking up 4 yet?

Yeah I’ve been goofing with it. Gief is currently my main but I love fei / seth / fuerte / gouken. I cant RSF yet, seth takes a lot of damage for little reward, and gouken is not fitting my style yet. I do love playing gief in it though. I actually MM’d some Smash heads from my area who thought button mashing was an optimal strategy (and didnt see ANY kind of strategy/mindgames) in Streetfighter. I told them $10, 3 matches, ill be blindfolded. I played gief :stuck_out_tongue: and before the 2nd match ended they gave up.

ST for life.

Uh, Akuma’s available in VST too. Besides, who gives a shit, if it’s truly a problem he’ll be banned from tourneys.

Also, what does #9 mean? That the best 3-out-of-5 matches on XBL ranked were incorrect and will be moved back to the correct 2-out-of-3 or vice-versa for the PS3 version?

And fuck “release in the next few weeks”. I want it nooooooow

^^That’s right, Akuma’s even worse in classic ST than Remix. Also I hope ranked remains best of 3. Best of 5 is not SF.

What exactly is the trouble with Hawk’s super? I never use Hawk’s super when I play him, so I never noticed anything.

The way the news post was stated sounds like there was no ruling out the possibility of a balance patch further down the road. I’m not sure if my idea will catch on, but what I think should happen is that a thread should be made dealing with some obvious things that need to be changed, such as:

  1. Various aspects of Akuma that David Sirlin said were not working as intended:

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=5860632&postcount=233

  1. Various T.Hawk throw problems (can someone get some links for what’s messed up and why?)

  2. Boxer not being able to negative edge during his throws:

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=170609

And, 4. Various changes put forth by good players from each character of things that should maybe be changed.

If you do hawks super starting from back on the right side, it wont work. At least im 99% sure thats what it is. Since every time I try to do it, a dp comes out. Also, hawks active grab frames are fucked up due to his whiff. It is not working the way it should have been. Hawk players can attest to this.

I have whiffed my throw with hawk RIGHT next to them without even ticking first, utterly ridiculous… Hawk is not useable at all anymore. He was god in the demo that was at Evo last year, and now he’s the opposite, I whiff all the time at no fault of my own, and supers do not come out, it’s just…trash. And sad because Hawk is a really cool and unique character.

I posted this in Jimmy’s blog, but I was actually surprised to see the music issue not addressed. I hate it when the music randomly cuts out and cuts in and cuts out etc. I was hoping that was fixed, because watching some match videos online with no music (especially when Dee Jay dies and doesn’t utter any noise) makes the game look sooooo ghetto.

Also, T.Hawk’s Super didn’t have the same problem as Gief. The problem stemmed from where you started the joystick. But if you start Hawk’s Super from the joystick at neutral, it always works. I use it a LOT thanks to the very small “storing” ability of the super, have pulled off some pretty B.S. stuff with it. Hahaha.

I posted in the T. Hawk thread a week or two ago that I think he has 0 grab frames. I get my video capture device today and I’m off all next week so I’m going to test that and report back.

While I would like to see this fixed, one of my friends and I have grown to really enjoy one aspect of the Dee Jay audio glitches. If you turn down the music and game volume really low all of Dee Jay’s sounds are really loud the first time they are played. It’s freaking hilarious when everything is super quiet and all the sudden you hear MAX OUT! or GET IT! really loud. It makes me laugh every time.

Aw man, no fix for the online win quotes? :frowning:

sigh. i see this as an opportunity to receive more hate mail :frowning:

Hmm. I don’t have any problems with Hawk’s super or his tier level. I think he’s pretty decent in this game.

I don’t have any problem doing his super either but I always use the original motion. The new motion seems really finicky to me, but that may be just because the input is awkward and I suck at it.

Yeah, it never gets old, does it? I’m also happy to see that they didn’t fix Blanka’s electricity bug where sometimes the opponent has the electric effect on him for the rest of the match. Both of those are funny as hell

This patch is about what I expected. It’d be nice to have all the quirks fixed, but I’ll be happy enough if I can play without disconnects or jacked power bars. I just hope the patch doesn’t introduce any new bugs

I do :df::d::db::l::ub: for Hawk’s 360 and :r::df::d::db::l::df::d::db::l::ub: for his 720. I can tick into the 720 fairly reliably.

I didnt know this but still, thats not functioning correctly.

Well I kinda expected them not to tamper with balances changes just yet. When you really look back at it, STHD really has only been out for around 4 or so months which when compared to previous titles is still quite new. I don’t expect to even hear about talks of Capcom thinking about serious balance tweaks until we’ve at least seen the game in action during Evo 2009 to see how things turn out.

That said, I’m just glad the desynching, disconnects, HUD, and lobby issues have been addressed. Those were by far the most important things for me. If I can now play matches with people consistently without fear of the lobby imploding or having the match disconnect on me, then I can die a happy man.

I’m geniunely chuffed at the fix list. SFIV, whilst fun, isn’t as engaging for me.

HDR, I shall come back to thee with FECKING BELLS ON.
