[CONCLUDED] Capcom Cup 2015 Finals

Imagine if he brings out ryu vs yun or in grand finals. Now that’s closure. Rest in peace SFIV.

That’s the way the Japanese have been playing for years. My friend’s been there a few times and I hear stories of some of them basically being jobless just to get to that next level. 15k isn’t too bad in comparison to busting your ass off to win SBO and get a PS2 as a prize because Japanese tournaments don’t/aren’t allowed to pay out much.

Still doing better off than the guy who went 0 and 2. That’s sudoku watch there.

Nah there aren’t any characters left that E. Ryu does worse against then Ryu. Viper is probably the only character I’d prefer Ryu in … MAYBE Akuma also.

I feel like it’s retarded already that 9-32 get a handshake and some time at the SFV station.
All these guys deserve some kind of payoff.

Let’s just hope SFV becomes the new SF2 and we see a lot of players and sponsor interest, so playing SF is a viable career for more players.

Exactly. This is the struggle we go through now to get to brighter days later. One day you won’t have to be the 0.01 percent just to get paid like a real sport.

Yeah it’s just wishful thinking, I’d love to see his Ryu take this.

But I’ve seen Infiltration counterpick Yun with Ryu multiple times and people rated that as favorable matchup for Ryu at the beggining of AE/2012, I don’t know how it’s now. He also played him vs Momochi’s Ken.

Just the extra health and stun definetly helps, but Daigo didn’t even counterpick F-Champ with Yun and got eliminated. He’s not that type of player I suppose.

Technically if they won a premiere event they got part of the 500k payout for that.

He counter picked Tokido at the beginning of the year with Ryu, but that is the last time we saw him. Ryu does well against Akuma because they tend to trade a lot of hits and Ryu always comes out the better, plus his Ultra just wins the fireball war and is comboable giving Ryu a lot of damage over Akuma.

Keits’ tournament which I forget the name had this type of payout. Seemed much more fair.

Keits also made top 32 payout for Killer Instinct at Evo just for that reason. If you got out of pools you got money.

The tournament you’re talking about is called UFGT and was replaced with Combo Breaker.

Yeah, I feel like everyone should get at least 1k, pay for your flight back, or parry a months rent or something. It’s sucks for guys like Shiro who put in so much work going to the qualifiers, then makes it pretty far in a stacked bracket, but then gets eliminated before top 8 and now he’s SOL. But yeah, in a year or two I think SF5 will have hit it off and then we’re going to see the real transition into esports with hella money and shit.

If I end up liking SF5 and it becomes a huge thing with a lot of $, I’ll definitely try my hand at getting really good and competing in tourneys if my life allows it. There’s nothing better than getting paid for doing something you enjoy.

Daigo vs Keoma Grand Finals. Keoma resets the bracket but Daigo ends up winning.

What did Mago say about Jiewa exactly? I missed the interview.

Just to add on the Keoma and Brazil scene, he lives on the southern part of the country but still flies out to more remote regions to help that local scene level up, always helpful online, etc, it’s just that very few players are legitimely commited to improving and being the best.

He didn’t practice for him. Instead he practiced for his third match, Momochi.

Guys they played indestructible during the break someone pls halp me

Quote of the year right there.

This thread been missing you Emil. Welcome.

How do you feel about Snake “done” Eyez going further than Itazan

Well, at least basically every player here already picked up some Capcom money at the tournaments they played to qualify. You can’t really say even the ones who went 0-2 didn’t pick up something out of the process.

Then you get the guys like J. Wong where even if they haven’t really done well, at least they stay visible enough with their names out there that it helps them do things like monetize their streaming.

Plus- it is really hard to consider this a career. I mean, even with a more egalitarian payout structure vanishingly few players are going to make enough money that they aren’t going to need some other real source of income in their years between the games leaving them behind and actual retirement age. Even the players who are doing or have done exceptionally well (think Evo winners) probably should still be living modestly and making smart investments.

And yet, knowing how much of a wild card Daigo is, I’m still honestly worried. Nevermind the fact that it will be a shorter set (even if we’re talking about a 3:2 score - that’s 5 games, where as at topanga it was 8 games and could potentially be 13), and Daigo is known to be wrecking people in the longer sets

Plus Kazu is a beastly player

I just wanna be one of the better players in Germany and hopefully have fun with the game.
My biggest fear is SFV sucking and me becoming an old man that hates new things who plays SFIV with his 2 friends left that do the same, like the guys in the 3S forums.

Well it’s like SFIV and MKX. Even if it sucks you will still be that salty guy playing by yourself and everyone else is having a good time with that new shitty game.

That will be interesting because then you’ll have the 3S people hating on the SFIV people hating on the SFV people.
