Preppy, do you have any idea what’s wrong with my computer from my previous replies with data logs?
Thanks in advance.
I already suggested this:
Did you try that? 0x80080005 should mean that MSI is broken, and that if you try to “net start msiserver” (or net stop), I’m thinking it would fail. Does it?
So I bought these new speakers R-10 Logitech speakers for cheap ($8) and they don’t have bass (which I knew before buying). Is there a program that enhances/adjusts sound on my computer or anything?
My old computer broke when the HDD screwed up. The HDD was a Maxtor D540X-4D 5400 RPM 80 GB Ultra ATA/100 HD.
Now, my questions are, what kind of HDD can i buy to replace it? I know it would have to be ATA, but does it have to be Ultra ATA/100? And how consistent are ATA drives? Would they have screws in the same places?
Thanks
I wasn’t wanting to rip Blu-Ray discs, I was just saying if I were to come across a 1080p Blu-Ray rip in ts files that won’t play in MPC with ffdshow and Haali Media…and it won’t play…what would be the problem?
Is this something better served over PM or IM?
Anybody still read HJT logs in this thread? Just curious. I don’t have a log that needs cleaning or anything. A while back, I was actually gonna post up a log of my gf’s brother’s computer and wanted to see if anyone could’ve responded during the time I was at her house. And she lives in California, so oh well. =P
Don’t get maxtor
get seagate barracuda or western digital hard drives.
and ata are fine. you can probabaly get an ATA/133 for a slight speed bump.
Thanks mixah
why exactly is maxtor so bad?
besides newegg, what are other good places to get computer stuff?
seagate owns them. before that, maxtor was the worst company. now… seagate is to maxtor like hp is to compaq. hp computers work and compaqs break… seagate works and maxtor breaks. lol
they just have about half the life span of a seagate or western digital. WD is more reliable typically, but seagate give you a five year warrenty.
Okay, I boot my pc today and I can’t log onto my admin account for my pc, it says it’s corruped, but I still am able to access all my files on my pc, and have virus/spyware scanners on all the time. What’s going on?!
hey guys, i have some sort of trojan/spyware program on my laptop that i cant remove.
Ive tried spybot , trend micro AND ad-aware.
Heres what is happening:
-whole pc is slow as hell
- i get a popup balloon constantly on my taskbar saying “**a critical error could occur” STOP 0x000007B (0xF20184,0x00000, oxCC034) Inaccessible handler of device. Click this balloon to solve this problem" **This baloon notice keeps appearing for 1 sec then disappearing, then reappearing the wholer time my Pc is on.
–If i try to use IE 7, it continuously opens up new windows.
–there are 2 shortcuts on my desktop called “windows update” and “help support” that i cant delete. If i do, they reappear.
Is there another program i could use to get rid of it?
thanks for any help

My Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Professional is screwed up
When I load it, it says “This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem”
Has anyone else had this problem?
I can’t reinstall because my Windows Installer is still messed up and I don’t know how to fix it.
Any suggestions?
I have about 3 rmvb that I want to look at but I don’t have the application do you know were a can find one ?
I’ll go over any HJT logs you got. Post them up or PM them to me and give me a night to go over it when I get off of work.

If that doesn’t work you can use foxit reader to view PDF.
100% WMPNetwk.exe, WTF went wrong!
Ok my CPU usage is constantly at 100% because of wmpnetwk.exe running. Now I’ve done all the google research I usually do when something like this happens and I get some information but it doesn’t really make sense. I learned that wmpnetwrk.exe is sharing my media information and that it has something to do with WMP 11. I knew all that just from the file name. I also learned how to remove/disable it. What bothers me is that, A:I’ve been using WMP 11 to stream media to my 360 since the Divx update (several weeks ago) and my system never went to 100%, B: Every answer I find says “yea its a “known” problem” that just so happens to cripple your system but Microsoft has done nothing about it. I guess I just wanna know wth, if i have to disable it i will, but something doesn’t seem right to me.
Thanks guys.
Mad: Who said it’s a known problem? If you go to WMP’s Tools:Options:Library:Monitor Folders, does that list have folders listed?
Endless: I take it the MSI repair steps I mentioned didn’t work?
Unfortunately not.
I tried installing the new version of Windows Installer…it SAYS on the computer that it is installed when I run the program, but the % done bar jumps from about 25% to “Windows Installer has been installed”
The system says I have it, but it doesn’t seem to be reading it or installing things.
However, I think it is in the Registry, because I can manually uninstall it (I found out last night. It gives me a warning of if you unistall, all these other programs will be affected. I didn’t unistall it yet)
However, if I use the automated “Microsoft Windows Installer uninstall program” that doesn’t work because it says something about safe mode, admin etc.
Also, I don’t know what’s up with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8… I have 7 on the computer it’s working fine, but that problem with 8 just came up last night, I don’t know why.
I don’t use it often, but it’s an important program for me because I transfer and update my resume from .doc to .pdf
Mad: OK, I’m looking at the internal WMP NSS troubleshooting docs written by a friend who works on the team, and I don’t see any 100% CPU Usage notes here as of yet. So I’m suspicious that your library may be wonky - the test above as re: folders would test that effectively.
