Yeah, don’t. Registry cleaners cause a whole lot of problems, since they usually will target registry keys critical to Windows functionality as “unused” or “invalid”. Besides, Windows XP and Vista are smart enough to ignore most useless registry keys, so it’s not like having them in there is slowing down your system any.

So I actually went out and bought Call of Duty 4…and now I get this error when running it.

“Error during initialization: Couldn’t create a 800x600 depth-stencil surface: Out of video memory.”

When I previously…acquired it, it didn’t give this error. Now I actually buy it and everything’s screwy?

Go to start, run, and type in regedit. You’ll be able to take a look at your system’s registry. Also, be sure to go into C:/program files and see if anything looks suspicious.

Have you downloaded and installed the latest drivers for your videocard? Also, what card are you using (it meets the minimum requirements, right?)

Yeah, got the latest drivers. It’s a 7900 GT. Ran fine before, but now that I actually bought the game…

You might also want to try installing the latest version of directx and re-installing the game afterwards. Is your videocard overclocked?

Check the game’s forums. This reminds me of a problem I had when the Vanguard beta came out that was really obscure and only affected a handful of setups, but a lot of people were complaining about it until it got fixed a few hours later. Do a search.

is there a way for a dual monitor setup, to sleep just one monitor (without pressing the power button) and not affect the rest of the system?

Is there a way to extract separate rar. files from Badongo file sharer without being forced to register for their special extractor for “.aa .ab .ac” files?

for example: Spiderman.rar.aa- .ab- .ac… and so on.

$100< mobo recomendation- all the choices make my head hurt. i’m looking for affordable dual sli. i don’t need anything high end. i’m using an amd x2 4000 thx.

Socket AM2 or 939?

Halp!

My screen image is on it’s side (WTF) How do I fix this?

^ There’s a setting for it. I don’t know exactly where to find it, but check the graphical settings for a screen rotation setting.

… or you could just reinstall your drivers and that might set it back to default.

Ok, I found it, thanks.

am2.

So I have one of those little USB flash drives, but my PC won’t recognize it. All my other USB stuff works, I’ve tried it in every other USB port, and even unplugged my regular stuff to see if that was causing the problem, but no dice. Defective, or what?

^ Probably. One of my flash drives was/is like that, but all my other ones work fine.

Speaking of defective, the mouse that I’m currently using refuses to move up or down about 90% of the time now. It’s seriously pissing me off that I have to use the Tab key so much just to move around “effectively”.

I just wanted to know if this defect could be with anything other than the mouse itself since I checked the connections and then the interior of the mouse and it was the latter that seemed rather buggy.

I’m probably going to replace my mouse very soon regardless.

ok more router problem…:bluu:

4 port router:
Download 1817.5 KB/sec transfer rate
Upload 234.8 KB/sec transfer rate

8 port router:
Download 1025.4 KB/sec transfer rate
Upload 232 KB/sec transfer rate

now is there a way to connect the 8 port router to the 4 port so I can have more ports and still have the better speed ? 4 port router doesnt have an “uplink” port and I am guessing its not possible ??

8 port does have uplink port and I can connect the 4 port to the 8 port router but its still slow. obviously the 8 port is accepting the main connection from the modem.

also if I were to buy another “switch” of some sort, I still wont be able to use it with my 4 port as it doesnt have an uplink port correct ? can someone clear things up me…thanks in advance

Have you tried connecting the 4 port router to your modem and connecting the 8 port to one of the 4 port router’s ports?

Regardless of how you arrange things, your routers obviously have their own limitations in terms of storing data from nodes, processing and transmitting them so the speed will go down once you start having traffic from multiple computers.

Also, a switch doesn’t need an up-link port. It should just make its switching decisions based on its learned MAC address tables once you start getting packets across.
