it’s faster on everybody’s pc… except, it doesn’t do as much.
is avast better than nod32? hmm… it doesn’t hurt to have 2 anti virus right? i’m currently using spybot for spywares.
The sad truth…
Radiant, you generally don’t want to have two antivirus programs running real-time protection at once because they can interfere with one another… and that would be a serious drain on your system resources. If you want to have a bunch of adware and spyware programs to supplement your antivirus, though, that shouldn’t be a problem. When I had Windows I ran avast for antivirus along with Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Windows Defender. Also note that Spybot is not an antivirus program, which might be your point of confusion.
I fully uninstalled n reinstalled it n it didnt do shit when i clicked on the firefox icon the hourglass goes away after a few seconds n nothing happens and i cant find anything on google to tell me why firefox isnt working when i click it or how to fix it.
Avast is free, so in that regard it is better. However Nod is the better choice if you are willing to purchase.
And two anitivirus programs will conflict with each other most times. (unless you only use one to scan and not live protection)
This is for you MAC users…
I was curious if anyone knows a way of copying the settings for network and directory access (active directory) etc over to another Mac? I tried the migration option but it only allows for firewire. The problem with that for me is my workstations are all upstairs and I dont want to carry it from the 10th floor to the 9th floor.
Is there a way to copy settings to a usb or files that contain the settings to active directory, network settings, etc?
I really hate to have to set up all the user accounts, roaming profiles, connection with 2k3 servers etc all over again.
Thank You,
Homesick
So I’ve got this mid-tower sitting here next to my desk collecting dust…I haven’t turned this machine on in a year, I think. It’s relatively beefy (P4 2.0 with a GB of RAM) and I’ve been wanting to make a local fileserver out of it. I want to be able to dump my downloads and torrents and all my music and stream it to my main PC and my XBox Media Center. My kid brother has a MacBook and he bums music off of me a lot, and it would be nice if he could just hook up to my network and grab what he wants without having to bug me for a usb jump drive everytime he wants to get some music.
So I’d need some kind of setup where the server could easily be seen by OSX as well as Windows users. I’m not afraid of learning the Terminal if that’s what it would require. Anyone wanna point me where to start?
nod32 and kaspersky are the best antivirus programs available.
don’t use two av programs.
mastermind: no, just have a common network frame. better off installing linux on the tower to be a server, or just getting a network external hard drive.
So my external DVD Burner stopped working and I need to get a new one. It’s going to have to be an internal one because I can’t really afford to splash out on a new USB burner. Are there any compatability issues regarding internal burners that I should know about when concerning low spec machines?
How low spec?
AMD Athlon XP 2200+
1.80 GHz 736 MB of RAM
Should be no problem. You may not burn reliably at 16x though, but you will be able to burn.
i install sc original all fine… but when i put BW in and install that shit… it got half way done then freeze… WTF goin on/
That’ll be okay then because I always burn at x1/x4 anyway… So where does it plug in exactly? Everything appart from RAM is built into my mobo, will that be okay?
You will need to plug an IDE cable into the drive from the motherboard. Then you plug the power supply into the drive.

that’s too general to answer.
my firefox is acting up, the window doesn’t maximize.
i uninstalled and re-installed it and it still doesn’t work. i think i might’ve caught a bug or somethin but i scanned and cleaned my comp already. so i’ve been using opera which is aiight but i prefer firefox.
tips?
what happens when you maximize it?
anything funny, or does nothign happen at all?
it just sounds really random that it wouldn’t maximize…
^ It also sounds like something that a **complete **uninstall/reinstall will fix. See my above post. using “Add & Remove Programs” in the Control panel does not fully remove Firefox. Hope that helps.
