Also, just in case you didn’t know, the regular DVDs you by at the store (DVD-/+R or -/+RW) hold about 4.7 gigs, whereas official DVDs like the stuff that movies come on can hold a lot more space, almost double that IIRC. So it’s possible if you were trying to backup a legit DVD onto DVDR/RW that you’d run out of space- though a lot of DVD movies don’t use 100% of the space possible.
man I was already looking forward to lend a hand out again however, it seems that mixah is taking over. I’m still around just don’t flood the gates with nonsense (ie easy fixes)
you didn’t specify… look at your post, and because you only put “TV” and nothing about sound, that’s why i thought you meant about the video.
the sound? yeah, what kind of inputs do you have on the receiver? if you have optical, you just need a set of optical connectors, but you need optical on both your card and the receiver. easiest thing to do is get a 3/8" jack (standard headphones) to RCA splitted cables (the red / white that you get on most consoles)
Quick question: I’m thinking about getting an external HDD that around 50-60GB. Thing is I dont have a lot of cash and am willing to go down a few GB’s in case the price is in my range (damn you college!)
any one use linux? anytime i try to enable desktop effects or beryl on ubuntu, i lose my title bars im using nvidia drivers btw and i can post my xorg.conf if anyone here knows anything.
I’ve been told a lot to ignore getting a laptop and just go for a desktop. Mostly the laptop would be for taking with me to class and doing work then in my free time downloading, playing music, games, and surfing the web.
Which would be more convenient? I know desktop would be more for my buck.
both? My first year of college, I used to live 45 min bus ride away from uni. It was good doing stuff on laptop while on bus. Did all my assignments on it too. But I hardly used it at home.
try goldwave. I know it works and you might also need to download the LAME MP3 encoder. There might be simpler programs out there…if goldwave doesn’t work out for you, do a google search (like you should have done before asking)…I’m sure u’ll find plenty.
I lived in the dorms for a few years with a desktop and it is the biggest pain in the ass to move back and forth between campus and your house at the end of spring and the beginning of fall. Tower + monitor + speakers + subwoofer =
