Soundforge is a very good prog, easy to understand and very complete.
As I recall, cooledit is not as handy, but quite ok (it’s been a lot of years I used it, though).
Normalizing the sound is boosting both high and low freq sounds, while still puting some limit on the volume output, to avoid clipping… that is, if set correctly.
In a word, if the normalize command (in whichever prog you’re using I mean) is not all automatic and allows some settings, just check that at no time during playback you get in the red, this is what makes tracks sound like exploded speakers.
Try to avoid orange as well, but as long as you don’t go in the red, you should be ok.
I have a simple question. I’ve read Preppy’s site about the color codes. But where excatly do I paste them and apply them? Also, I should be able to see the new colors in the preview window right?
yo i have been trying to put custom music for three days now. for some reason the adx sound converter won’t work. and i followed the tutorial step by step. this is really getting annoying. do you guys have any advice for me cause i don’t know anyone who can do this for me and i’ve went through three discs already. also any websites where i can download dreamcast games? thanks in advance. also the dkz studio won’t convert the files either. so please help me.
Make SURE your adxencd folder is on the C drive, but NOT in any other subfolders (the location should be C:\adxencd)
Make a folder on your desktop called mp3’s and put the songs you want for the mix in there
in the adxencd folder make another folder called Wavs
Now what you need is a mp3 to Wav converter, I use Musicmatch jukebox because it’s easy and it works
Open up your converting software and select the desktop mp3 folder as your source , and the Wav folder as your destination (MP3–> WAV)
Now the files will be converted
Go to Start–>Programs–>Accessories–>Entertainment–> click on Sound Recorder
Use Sound Recorder to edit the songs as you like. For example, if you want to make sure the song is at least 3 minutes, or you want the pace of the song to pick up at the beginning of the fight, or you want to adjust the volume.
Now to convert your Wavs to adx, you will need to change the song names to the names of the files. If you have the instructions, then you should have a listing of the stages and the corresponding file names. Don’t change the extensions just yet.
Move the Wavs into the main part of the adxencd folder
Go to Start–>Run–> type ‘cmd’ (without quotes).
type cd… until you have ‘C:’. Now type in ‘cd adxencd’
Type “adxencd” and the name of the wav then hit enter.
Example:
C:\adxencd>adxencd ADX_S050.wav
each song will be converted like this
Make SURE your computer is configured to show file extensions.
Open up the adxencd folder and simply rename the newly formed adx files to BIN files. Right click–>Rename then type ‘BIN’ (w/o quotes) for each file.
Select the BIN files, copy and paste them into the MvC2 folder and select overwrite when it prompts for it.
I wasted many MANY cd’s trying to make self-boot, and I found it to be a real pain. So I stick to making non self-boot customs and I have no complaints.
I’ve been tryin 2 make my own copy 4 about a few weeks now. I used all my cds on tryin 2 do this. Now I use a cd-rw. Will this work with a cd-rw? or do I need a reg cd? My dreamcast wont every pick it up if it doesnt matter. Unless it can read CD-rw. Can some one please hit me asap. Feel free 2 hit my yahoo or msn messenger.
I cannot preview my work as im working on it. The preview button is greyed out and not clickable. I skimmed through a bunch of pages and didnt see anyone post with the same problem. Anybody have any suggestions?
i dont think there are any exe files in with the dat files. im not sure i been trying to do this for hours now and im lost. if anybody wants to help hit me up on AIM or something.
You’re running palmod.exe . This requires img.dat to be in the same directory. You then point it to the directory containing the palette files to be edited.
