I haven’t used the new palmod yet, but can someone fill me in on the extra editing? Does palmod correctly edit the characters extras automatically while you edit the main pallette?

I think it was stated in the original post by magnetro that you need to set the manual zoom in order to see the sprite, could be wrong though.

Edit: I misread, there is no importing pictures. I was a dumbass and for that i un-declare fudge. I’ll be using this palmod for cyclops only though. Kinda annoying.

Hey after I export a picture the palmod crashes if I try to export another one. Is there a reason for this or is it a bug that needs to be fixed?

So, this version updates those extra pallets on the fly? Do I just copy the code and BAM it does all the rest? Or do I have to activate it somehow?

I tested this with LP color, i assume it does the same for all buttons, so far it edits all chars except:

**CapAm’s: **1st Extra (shield, must match his outfit)

**ChunLi’s: **1st Extra (kicks, must match her outfit)

Colossus: (these make the palette look glitchy, need fixing as noted)

  • (17) Extra - (LP Color - Stance Frame 9 is wrong, it copies ID:01 to 04, it should be ID:02 to 04)
  • (1B) Extra - (LP Color - Power Dive Shine Frame 4, it doesn’t copy ID:09 to ID:08, and ID:03 to ID:02 after the lum-18)
  • (1C) Extra - (LP Color - Power Dive Shine Frame 5, it doesn’t copy ID:09 to ID:08, and ID:03 to ID:02 after the lum-13)
  • (1D) Extra - (LP Color - Power Dive Shine Frame 6, it doesn’t copy ID:09 to ID:08, and ID:03-06 to ID:04-07 then ID:03 to ID:02 after the lum-6)
  • (20) Extra - (LP Color - Power Dive Shine Frame 9 is wrong, it substracts Lum, whereas it should be Lum+25)

Cyclops: Sorry but the automation for this is the worst:
1st extra is a mess, (it doesn’t even work correctly) It should be:
“1st: Copy ID:01-05 from original to ID:09-13, then copy ID:13 to ID:14 & add lum - 5.
2nd: Copy ID:06-10 from original to ID:03-07, then copy ID:03 to ID:02 & add lum + 5, and to ID:02 & add lum + 12, and to ID:01 & add lum + 17.” I know might be a bit confusing, in fact not all IDs are used for this, but i’m not going to check which ones work or not, i just fill all and pray it looks ok.
For the red tint extras, it works nice for dark colors, for clear ones, its a lil glitchy. Also if i edit only a part of the suit (belts, etc), it will apply the red tint values to all the palette, instead to the ones modified, making my yellows purple for that matter.

Dr. Doom: (I just noticed my Doom section in the guides is blank!! How come no one complained!?)

Jin: - (31) Extra - LP Color Power-up Flash Frame 5 - (this one does something odd to the palette, and I’m pretty certain its not Lumin+21, would be wise to check it out)
(51) Extra - LP Color Explosion frame - LP Color but only edit ID:06-15 (don’t touch ID:02-05 = face) aka, just copy those IDs from the LP color you made. Palmod does something odd like add lumin or hue, depending on the color.

It doesn’t automate the following:
(63) Extra - LP Taunt Frame 1 - LP Color but only ID:06-15 (do not touch ID:02-05 = face)
(64) Extra - LP Taunt Frame 2 - LP Color but only ID:06-15 (do not touch ID:02-05 = face)
(65) Extra LP Taunt Frame 3 - LP Color but only ID:06-15 (do not touch ID:02-05 = face)
(66) Extra - LP Taunt Frame 4 - LP Color but only ID:06-15 (do not touch ID:02-05 = face)
(67) Extra - LP Taunt Frame 5 - LP Color but only ID:06-15 (do not touch ID:02-05 = face)
(68) Extra - LP Taunt Frame 6 - LP Color but only ID:06-15 (do not touch ID:02-05)

Juggz: I’m delighted on what this does to his palette, :D. Nothing wrong.

Kobun: Ok, so where’s the preview?? While you’re going to fix this for Preppy (<3), can you PLEASE for the sake of human kind add the Tron girl preview? PRETTY PLZ!!?!?

Mega Man & Roll: Works great, though I’d like to see it does all the extras when editing Rush and Beat. Not really a must, but it would be cool (I think there’s a how in the full guide, if not then i can post the values on how much and where to edit them)

Morrigan: Related to Lilith, if someone edits her: 01 LP (Extra - 02), then the following should be edited as well:
(4B) Extra LP button - Lilith Same as 01 LP (Extra - 02)
(4C) Extra LP button - Lilith Same as 01 LP (Extra - 02) & ID:01 = white
It isn’t automated in this. Just worth noticing.

Shuma: Who plays Shuma anyways… besides the CPU, mind you. There’s some easy fixes in the guide, should be enough to edit this for the most part.

Son Son: No automation for Monkey King palettes. Would be nice to have a preview for these. :smiley:

Zangief: This updates the original color with the Mech Gief color, thus making both the same, it shouldn’t be like this. (11-16 Extra) are Mech Gief color, SHOULD NOT be the same color as the original. Also, it edits the Mech Gief FAB colors as well, but incorrectly as noted. The automation should be: When Mech Gief color edited -> edit Mech Gief FAB.

That’s pretty much all i could notice from about 20 mins of messing with it. Another note though, it should initialize with the preview window open, set to 2x.

To everyone:
To remove complement palette editing, just deselect the box in settings, for those who wish to do the extras by hand.

To export all buttons, go to Export Image > Amount: 6, then select a Zoom value and it should pop all the colors you have. “Export Image” will crash even if you close the same window and reopen it, so be sure to backup/patch your edits first. Perhaps Sir Preppard III can fix this issue? Would it be possible to modify the preview so it can show transparencies? Besides my dearly beloved Tron girl, that’s the sole request I have. =]

I couldn’t get sentinel’s A2 to change at all.

The general consensus is, Trust, but verify with the new Palmod. When you edit the Main palette, be sure it makes the appropriate changes and adjust where necessary. I am still pleased with the update.

To add:
Spiderman’s Palettes change accordingly on his intro frames.

Thanks for checking Eidrian, now I know what to look for. However, I may still do the edits manually since I usually add my own touches to the extra pallets.

Old School Palmod :lovin:

Yep. For editing, stay with the old palmod until all bugs are fixed. IIRC the palettes dont even save. I previously did some work to the one magnetro just released without fixing/finding bugs.

I fixed most of the errors that I failed to attend to before on the extras that edrian posted. The only snag I have is the tints and figuring out how to automate Chun Li’s kicks. Maybe Captain America’s if his is somewhat complex. I might leave the tint in as an option as it’s probably best done manually. Some colors might look bad with it automated, with the method I’m using.

I’m working on ripping Tron right now.

Don’t know what’s wrong with the exporting image bug.

Image out gives bad file name extension.

Might take out save as. Bad code.

I could probably give you some formula for those (CapAM and Chun), about the red tints, sorry, it really depends on what color is used, i would suggest to leave the code you have right now for automation, then manually correct the edit by hand, in case it looks glitchy.

Easy fixes:
**CapAm shield: **
1st - From Original Palette ID:01-03&05-07 to Extra ID:01-06, (Why skip ID04? Because the shield only holds 6 spots for IDs.)
2nd - And then Original: ID:08-11 -> to Extra ID:11-14.
After that, in the Extra palette, you have empty spots from ID:07-10, so do this:
3rd -
From Original: ID:08 -> to Extra ID:07 + lum+32
From Original: ID:08 -> to Extra ID:08 + lum+25
From Original: ID:08 -> to Extra ID:09 + lum+11
From Original: ID:08 -> to Extra ID:10 + lum+5

Chun-Li legs:
1st - From Original Palette ID:01-05 to Extra ID:06-10
2nd - From Original Palette ID:05 to Extra ID:11 + Lum-7
3rd - From Original Palette ID:01-04 to Extra ID:12-15 + Lum+13

If you need help on other stuff, let me know and i’ll post it. BTW, if a character is not listed above it’s because it doesn’t need any fixing. I tested every single one to check and could only find those errors.

Thanks for working on Tron, you will make this entire galaxy happy. Also, about Gief, i dunno if you managed to correct him and about the transparencies, do you think it would be possible to make them visible?

For the last hour or two, I’ve been trying to build a simple iso that loads up in chankast to no avail. I remember viewing an alternate tutorial from Combo Masher’s site, but it’s not there anymore. It used CDR WIN to create the ISO, and a simple program to convert it to CDI. The roadblock I’m at is figuring out how to modify the ip.bin and 1st_read.bin to load on chankast instead of an iso. Any Ideas?

EDIT: Transparencies where planned but learning about it was too intimidating for me. :frowning: I might take another look at it but it’s doubtful.
