Complete "How to Change the Music in MVC2 + How to make your game selfboot" Thread

Here are some of my edits, let me know if you want some of the codes.

can I use selfboot.exe for a custom cvs2?

echelon is a hassle

Thanks, but I should’ve been more specific-- where does it save this information to? Is there a default folder i’m not seeing?

Some sickkk palettes in there Strider, I’m likin that mustachio’d Cable lol. Interesting skin tones too, blue psylocke, whytf not?

I believe it just overwrites the bin file.

I jus’ wanna make sure I’m doing this right…

…so only send the .BIN’s for characters that have been edited (e.g. if Cable, Storm, and Magneto are the only characters edited, only include the BIN’s for PL17, PL2A, and PL2C)…?

Thanks in advanced.

P.S. If you have time, can you tell/teach me how to do this…? I have a bunch of mixes (I’m actually sending Preppy 4…), and I’d like to have them all on 1 disc.

OKay, heres a question then, if you overwrite the Bin file, can you then open it with Palmod and access your new colors for tweaking, bc whenever I open the BIN i get the original palettes? That can’t be right.

BTW, thanks to everybody helpin this nub out.

Do you have the cd in your computer? or do you already have all the files in your computer.

Edit the original pallette. When you go to close the Palmod, it will ask you if you want to save the changes. Say yes and when you open it back up, the changes will still be there. This might be a dumb statement, but make sure it’s a copy of the game. I understand it won’t work with an original copy.

…well…I’m done for a good while…I practically destroyed my laptop out ov sheer anger…thank relationships for this folks I don’t know when I’ll be back into the mix again -_-

What the hell? Are you serious Fonz…I wanted to see your new work

If possible, exactly right. That will cut down on work for me and diskpace for Preppy.
If you dont know which one’s you’ve edited, and Preppy’s ok with teh disk space, send all of the character .BINs and I’ll toss the ones that haven’t been edited.

I’ve put up a number of posts on how to do it, but it ain’t easy for most, and I always use linux to do it. Mr. Q has done it with Cygwin before, but it’s a VERY command line heavy process. Looks up the older posts, but unless you’re really comfy with command line and linux commands, it may not be for you.

I’ve got enough disk space so we should be fine on that front.

Well…all is not entirely lost…if I can find someone with a working PC and the programs necessary I can replicate the entire new mix within a day (thanks to photographic memory and notes). So yeah, making a new mix from scratch isn’t an issue with me…

…I’d explain exactly what’s going down in life…but this is not the place to discuss that…so I’ll let you know what happens as events unfold…

If I did it on a 900mhz, 256mb ram P3 shitty WC why not others XD.

 Done, and done.

 Alright.

And yeah…I know NOTHING about command line/linux commands. So yeah, guess it ain’t gonna happen.

Thanks.

Can I get the code for your A2 Commando?

True True. Thank you.

I actually have a very simular commando from one of my earlier mixes when i was doing a fire/ice water theme for most characters. Good stuff.
