Complete "How to Change the Music in MVC2 + How to make your game selfboot" Thread

I have the same problem. I am using XP Pro SP2 and this is the error message verbatim:

|16-bit MS-Dos Subsystem| <—blue banner at top of message
Command Prompt - bin2boot mvc2.bin
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose ‘Close’ to terminate the application

            |Close| |Ignore|

Sorry about the crappy buttons, but you get the idea.

I don’t think that any version of bin2boot will work. Bin2boot is meant to run with a 16bit version of dos, and it looks like it just isn’t compatibe with XP (I hope this isn’t true  ). I have been using b2b ever since it came out, but I had stopped just before I got my new pc, and now I can’t use it. I have tried every version that I have and nothing. Exoboot might work, I am going to try it out now.

UPDATE

I just got through using Exoboot and I get the same error message that I get with bin2boot; plus, just above the line “C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT.”, there is another line of text that says: “C:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CMD.EXE”. The only difference is that when I click ignore the program tries to continue to finish making the image file. When the program finishes, there is no image and it doesn’t tell me if it was successful or not. I did a search on my pc for the image file and it isn’t there, so I am left to believe that it didn’t make the image. I don’t know what I need, but there is something that I am missing. I even tried to change the compatability settings for exoboot to win2k, but to no evail. If anyone can help with this I would greatly appreciate it, because to make it this far just to be stuck here just plain sucks.

Oh yeah, this is my OS:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 2002 Service Pack 2

PC:
AMD Athlon XP2800+
1gig ram

cool I always wanted this.

I have a old 233 mhz comp and i use b2b on that comp its slow but i successfully made a custom cd, but now i have a problem with looping, the method shown on this forum isnt working, it says it cannot open the .adx file im trying to loop and it deletes it after i try it. Maybe its supposed to be done in all one step like the very first time just type >adxencd ADX_S000 -lps0 -lpe200448 . I need help. Thanks

So I tried to use the loop feature in CVS2 since I only tried Marvel before, and it worked! Dunno why cvs2 works for this but not mvc2, maybe its the copy I have or something… I am glad it works on CVS2 though because matches are much longer, and songs often end before the match is over, but not anymore with loop. MVC2 matches rarely last long enough for the song to end so I can live with it, looping training stage would be good though.

Uh, I looped the song you sent me a while back and told Shodokan to give it to you since I was busy. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he didn’t :razzy:

He offered to send it, and I even started to d/l it, but its size and the fact that I am on crappy 56k made me abort it.

Well, I don’t have an old computer to go back to  , so that’s not an option for me. I think that I am mistaken though about the XP thing. I seem to recall that I have used b2b since I have had this computer. I think it may be a problem with SP2. Is anyone else having problems that has SP2 installed? If you have SP2 and can use b2b, could you share your settings, or if anyone has an idea for me to try, I am open to suggestions.

I have always used bin2boot and it has always worked for me on windows xp…not quite sure which service pack though…

Every mix I’ve ever made(25 or so), I’ve always done the following…

  1. Place all the wav files in adxencd folder(ensure they are all properly named ADX_Sxxx.WAV)

2.Run…cmd

3.CD C:\

4.CD ADXENCD

5.ADXENCD ADX_Sxxx.WAV

6.ADXENCD ADX_Sxxx.WAV -lps0 -lpe(insert number here)

This has never failed me.
Please note that the 0 is a zero and the l is an L

For XP users, after line 5, you can save a bit of time by pressing the up arrow on your keyboard. It will put whatever you last typed on the next command line.(ADXENCD ADX_Sxxx.wav)

On another side note, ensure your not saving a wav file as ADX_Sxxx.WAV.wav…I’ve seen more than one person do this

Anyone having any trouble with any of this (MVC2 specifically)
feel free to hit me on AIM

P.S. I’d like to attempt this with CVS2 or 3s, but I’m lacking the files

man, looping doesnt work for me… i see that it does something but on dos about looping but it doesnt play… maybe i could send you the files X-death and you can try . Thanks

Yeah sure, just dump the files on me and I’ll figure it out. I’ll be on AIM around 4pm ET, so be on if you can.

if anyone can help me, i would appreciate it… anyways… i cant like ACTUALLY open adxencd.exe. the black screen pops up and disappers… so what i have been doing it just writing commands in .bat files, coz that seems to work… anyways. i cant get the looping process to work with my methof, so i guess i have a computer related question… why isnt adxencd.exe staying open when i click it? any help would be appreciated…

Probably because you’re supposed to run it from the command prompt, and not double-click it. :razzy:

Anyone here no any sites or resources on potentially changing the graphics in a DC game?

oh shit… dope… =))))

I don’t know of any, but I truly wish you the best of luck with your project.

Thanks! Even if it just ends up a mugen project, and the whole thing sucks, it’s still fun to try.

Best case scenerio? Capcom uses the sprites and credits Shoryuken.com on the credits screen of it’s next game.

I know. Crazy talk. But thinking big at least gets things started.

anyoneknow if project justice uses adx files? or virtual on?

for CvsS 2 what are the stage adx’s? heh i dont understand adx_st00-0a is. And what does are each of the stages ? like adx_st00 = osaka , something like that. THanks

If I had the files i could tell ya…
