Comparing SFV to other fighting games of this generation

I just think after seeing the scrapped stage transitions, it’s even more blatant Capcom just decided to stick to the most barebones content and said “ah, fuck it, they’ll pay for it anyway”.

'Lotta talking in this thread.

SFV doesn’t measure up at all to other current gen fighter games in it’s current generation. Ironically, it’s the only one I really play.

I agree they’re cheap, but not because they wanna be, i’m sure, but because their overhead spending limit is probably low as fuck. Remember the funding to even make this shit is simply because Sony took a money shit on the project and it happened. This wasn’t a game made directly out of crapcom’s control and even then they probably would’ve done worse with their spending limit to make everything happen.

So they’re probably with a low overhead and trying to milk every cent out of this game to make a real profit with out huge effort so they can still maximize productivity on other games as well.

And that, is why I’m pretty sure this game is still turning out to be quite the flop.

I guess nobody here has heard of necroing a thread before :expressionless:

it came out 2 years early.
killer instinct had a better launch though.

and xrd sign.

I disagree about it coming out 2 years early. A year at most arguably but they could’ve avoided this shitstorm if they released it initially as a ‘tournament edition’ or called it ‘early access’ or just outright made it an open beta that you buy into for a year or two. That would’ve saved face and bought them all the time they need.

It still needs another year I say to really eclipse all other fighters of its generation, and it undoubtedly will.

Is there any specific reason you think SFV will end up so great?

  • Content wise : Dissapointing.

  • Netcode wise: Underwhelming.

  • Polish wise: Poor.

  • GFX is alright.

  • Waifus wise : 9 out of 10. ( Would have been 10 if it wasn’t for Ibuki’s weird face on her win screen)

With all of this, the game is still THE Street fighter game and for us who enjoy SF game as our main fighting game we will keep playing it and supporting it. Yes MKX is a better product, Yes GGXrd is and Tekken probably will be.

The thing is :

1- i dislike the dude bro ugly ass characters with clunky animations from NRS, i really don’t wanna hear an ass hole saying " I don’t give a flying fuck in my games ".

2- I don’t give a shit about 50 characters with ugly GFX, souless models and everyone running Kyo and Iori.

3- I don’t wanna play super anime.

4- I dislike 3D games.

I LIKE SF. I don’t care if you like DOA,MK, VF,KOF,Tekken<Injustice or whatever.

I enjoy SF. I like playing SF games and despite all of its flaws, i enjoy SF5 more than all of these games combined. It is just what it is.

Uncharted 4 can get a perfect 10 review and MGS5 but i freaking had more fun with Mad Max. Not everything is numbers and checkboxes.

1- If you keep focusing on model clippings, you will miss out on how beautiful this game looks and animates. SF5 beats all other fighters of its generation graphically by landslide.
2- Easily one of the most well rounded and representative first iteration rosters in the franchise history. The returning characters feel fresh and a lot of older faces finally got a chance to make it in. If we never get more characters besides the 22 I will actually be content. That’s how good this roster is IMO.
3- Best story experience in the franchise’s history.
4- Overall one of the most balanced first iterations of any entry in the series. This speaks volumes about the care that went into creating the game that isn’t as obvious as “MUH ARCADE MODE”.
5- I love the gameplay. A lot. I love playing it. I love watching it.
6- Very satisfying soundtrack, not perfect, but also not without its fair share of gems.
7- Generally speaking, each revision of a Capcom fighter progressively improves on its predecessors. ST, A3, CvS2, 3S, SFxT (last patch) and USF4 all happen to be my favorite versions of each of those entries. I have little doubt that SF5 will follow this pattern and only become better. SF5 is great as is as a fighter, but it has the potential to be far greater. I recognize this potential and I won’t let the myriad of flaws and mistakes generated by Capcom (in a way that only Capcom can do) distract me from that.
8-

I go back and forth with SFIV and SFV [I like both].

This man just said best story in the franchise’s history.

Lmao goddamn son.

MKX had an enthralling story

Gameplay wise it is fun and the animation is awesome.

The character models r gd but the model hair going thru characters and the pixel shadow r terrible and need 2 b fixed. There r also a lot of smaller issues like player stats not working and whoever thought rollback connection was a gd idea needs 2 b slapped.

Content wise the game is a joke it’s getting better but when u compare it to fgs like tekken it’s laughable at best

What? SFV story is the best in franchise history because it’s the only story mode in the franchise. Any semblance of story in Street Fighter has been through arcade mode ending we are later told are canon. And even with that it was garbage. Loading screens every two minutes, bland story that makes literally no sense in certain parts, not to mention most of the characters just randomly show up just to fight. Ryu is literally off screen for most of the story and shows up at the end to beat Bison. Five’s story is one of the worst pieces of fiction I personally have ever been exposed to.

And saying that SFV is beautiful if you ignore the clipping is like saying a woman is beautiful if you ignore the ugly scar running down her face. The clipping detracts from SFV aesthically, as do some of the odd faces. Personally I find Xrd much better looking, but that is my opinion.

Also, SFV is balanced because almost everything has been nerfed and a lot of tools have been straight up removed. I’m not saying it isn’t balanced, but when pretty much every returning character is objectively worse than they were in previous iterations, having a balanced game isn’t really much of an accomplishment.

The franchise has never needed a full-fledged story mode included in the games. I honestly don’t get why anyone cares about that being in the game when the animes do it so much better. And with the way it is done, where you watch 5 minutes of cutscenes and then fight a round, is really annoying. I was glad to see that ASW didn’t bother with that and just made the story in Xrd a movie.

At least SFV looks the part of a modern game thats gone 3d. Im a huge kof fan but whats up with XV? It looks Graphicslly on par with a hentai sim from 2004.

At the cost of shouting in rage like a psychotic somedays, potentially losing my sanity from online salt.

To be true, and refering to the story mode, the cheesy/goofy style of storytelling of Street Fighter V makes kind of embarrassing to tell your acquitances you’re a Street Fighter fan.

I would have preferred something more serious/gritty, like Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, but whatever, it’s Ono. I really really want to see the Ono era of Street Fighter to finish as soon as possible.

lol pretty much this. I’ll be giving KoF14 and Tekken 7 a shot, but I already know SFV will be my main fighting game for this generation.

Since the stories of SF5 and MK10 are similar, I can see them making a SFvMK within a year or two!!!
