In addition to the above, having a set-up move doesn’t even mean you’re an “offensive mon” necessarily. Otherwise that janky Cosmic Power-Stored Power Clefable set is an “offensive mon” even though it’s more just a tank with pseudo-inevitability. The sames goes for Calm Mind Suicune, Curse Snorlax, Calm Mind Slowbro-Mega, etc.
Meh, most Pokemon are flexible enough that they can play somewhat more defensive or offensive depending on stat allocation, team synergy, moves, etc… It’s why one gen will see Garchomp as the most deadliest, fastest threat that must be banned, and the next, it’s a regular ass bulky pivot that sets rocks.
Of course, there are also those that are only designed with one or two things in mind, and only those things, but they are still the outliers.
This is also true, which is why it’s better to generally talk about offensive (or defensive) sets given even utter glass cannons like Beedrill-Mega can legitimately make use of support moves at times; in Beedrill-Mega instance, it would be Toxic Spikes, which is weirdly decent on that thing.
Regardless, set-up moves alone do not necessarily indicate an offensive set, even if the offense-oriented set-up moves are of course good indicators of one.
Never mind not gonna clarify. I think my point was oversimplified and missed any way.
Does anyone else play the Battle dome? I swear Smogon needs to make an official battledome meta. 4 people in a battle no friends just trying to get the most kills and keep the most Mon at the end is helps fun. Even in the game it is fun.
There are 802 different numbered pokemon, shit cant be balanced and as of late theyve made more extreme stat spreads (fast and high powered with no defenses and vice versa) instead of older gens more balanced spreads. Shits crazy
Question. Which of Kommo O abilities is bettee in OU? I guess soundproof is rising in popularity to counter other Kommonium Z users. (At least that shit hits behind subs)
Bulletproof can allow you to have a free switch-in and set-up against choice locked scarfers like Blacephalon and Gengar using Shadow ball and Sludge Bomb M-Venusaur.
Oh don’t get me wrong, I know Soundproof is more practical; that just means you can easily bluff it on the ladder and create the aforementioned opportunities. I merely showing him an alternative with Bulletproof. M-Gardevoir and Sylveon are hardly in OU though.
It’s crazy that just a few gens ago Kommo-O, with its Dragon/ Fighting typing, abilities, and stat spread would’ve been seen as the Destroyer of Worlds. Now it needs so much padding in the form of a new Z-Move and move tutors just to break even.
