Comp. Pokemon Thread MK2: Let's Go Back To Kanto Like Everyone Wanted!

If I did, you lost to them… So yeah.

Remember when Pokeaim would play the SPL shit, and only upload the games he’d win, and skip the ones he lost. Good shit.

Watch Blunder for that real, unfiltered and clean shit.

I beat your sweet Scent Amoongus son. Get some Memorex

And what happened when I stopped goofing around?

2-0.

Sit down.

So lemme ask this then. I think most believe it won’t go past UU. Isn’t the speed on a lower level in UU compared to OU (rarely ever play UU and honestly not sure). If so would DD still be necessary? I know scarf users and boosters are in every tier but I am curious since they banned Kommonium Z in the lower tiers already and kept the DD set

I think UUs speed tier is like base 100 instead of 110. There’s still latias and starmie down in UU as well as darmanitan and krookodile who often run scarf and are faster than kommo-o.

Haxorus > Kommo-o

DD doesn’t give you defense boosts and it comes at the cost of one turn set up. Clanging Scales Z move attacks AND gives you an omniboost

Ive actually seen DD with the z move. Like DD/clanging scales/iron head/close combat

Before I waste my precious time, does anyone know if you breed a Mon that already has a new Ultra SuMo egg move in regular SuMo with a Ditto, will the egg move still be retained in the offspring?

I was replying to Charlie, I know that’s the standard set.

I am almost certain it won’t pass it on regular SM

I know. Me personally I think for attacks Kommonium Z would be the best as it gives you the chance to have the most coverage. I have thought about a set using DD and K-Z but I think it lacks enough coverage to do work. THAT is probably my only concern with Kommo O. I think he will be a monster in doubles tho.

Doubles is basically all Gamefreak is concerned with at this point, so maybe.

I just know that even with max Attack and max Speed, Z-Kommo is rather underwhelming. It’s far more of a clean-up pokemon than a sweeper like the other +1 Z-Stone bullshitters, though perhaps it becomes a sweeper if you just focus on its (slightly lower) Special Attack given Specs Kommo-o can muscle past Blissey with Focus Blast with a bit of previous damage done to her.

Also, as far as Speed Tiers in UU goes, 108 is probably the important one to hit or be above given Cobalion and Infernape and Terrakion.

What does dragon/fight/steel miss out on?

Do you mean what doesn’t it Ohko or what doesn’t it hit well?

Things it can’t hit or has problems hitting
Mimikyu
Koko
Fini
Toxapex
Skarm

This is just off top of my head probably more than this.

The things it may have concerns killing after a omniboost is everything above plus

Scizor
Celesteela
Magearna
MegaMawhile
Tangrowth
Mega Bro
Zapdos
Megavoir
Sylvian
Maybe Sableye

Are just the few immediate ones I can think of it that are set and ability dependent.

Then there are the guys who have the potential to revenge kill it with priority because it relies on CS and CC (MegaPinc Weavile and mammo) although these aren’t about what it hits.

Obviously it is going to run CC and CS on ANY K-Z set. The question is what ability do you feel is most important in helping it and what Mona do you feel like you have the best chance of killing. If you wanna run DD then you choose if you want Steel Fire or Poison (depending on if you are special or physical). Mimikyu doesn’t care. His ability allows it to get off play rough which is gonna kill you. If it doesn’t he has priority to make sure he does.
Koko depends on if you run Poison jab. It can kill you with Dazzeling Gleam
Fini resist eveeything minus jab and hits hard with moonblast
Toxapex resist CC and every coverage move you wanna run. Not sure on the calc but I am betting it tanks ar least 1 CS.
Skarm has the ability sturdy, resist or is neutral to both stabs and can deal with coverage moves that aren’t flamethrower. Also can whirlwind out.

The ones I had concerns about killing basically give a chance to cripple or maybe even get some set up and kill on it. If we talking strictly about the set and coverage you mention assuming you mean max atk and speed iron head CC and CS with K-Z and Iron head then I have reason to believe that Kommo is losing to the 5 I mentioned above Steela Mawhile Magearna Mega Bro and Sableye. If I am wrong please explain to me why. I am okay being wrong I just don’t feel like it has enough coverage. Even the ones in that top 5 I listed are probably gonna be seen on almost every OU team in the tier. At least one of them and in somce cases 2 or 3.

All of those are mons it has no business fighting to begin with.

You see those guys, you need to make sure they’re gone, or sufficiently weakened that you can finish them off without dying in process.

Goddamn, man, it’s a Pokemon TEAM… Expecting one mon to kill everything without help is some Smogon shit thinking.

I agree but lets be honest. Sometimes you are gonna have to fight straight up. I prefer the converation to also include that in it. Most people just assume certain things like rocks always being up or whatever. That is always best case. I like to think worse case scenario what are my options.

Oh and I haven’t done Calcs I am just assuming damage based on what I have seen from similar mom’s with similar damage or types in the past. Some of that may not be Accurate and if it isn’t I accept that on my part. Just looking at it in general this is what I think will happen in most situations.

Which is exactly why the conversation should be:

  1. Who do I team with in order to not lose to those counters/checks?

and

  1. How do I create the situations in which to defeat these counters/checks?

These are the fundamental building blocks of team creation and execution.

Kommo-o only has base 110 attack. Nothing without mold breaker can Ohko mimikyu. At +1 he should murder tapu koko (koko is frail as fuck). Toxapex and skarm are fat as fuck and wall basically any non super effective hit anyways. Tapu fini is easy to wear down

The rest is just common Pokemon knowledge. Jesus. Don’t blow your load too early

“Only has 110 Attack”… I remember when that was a number to marvel at…

Power Creep too real.
