Well with Charlie88 suggestion. My team so far ( Not actualy made yet just brainstorming ) Is
Special sweeper Tapu Koko
Support Aloan Ninetales
Conversion Z Porygon Z
Incineroar but undecided on it’s role. I’m thinking of either Life Orb bruiser with Leech Life recovery and taunt
Banded Wall breaker, Or Bulky Attacker leaning more Sp Defensive.
Some peeps give Pory-Z Nasty Plot to blow up the fat pink blob… It really depends on what your team needs.
Looking at your squad, @BB_Hoody, I’d probably go with Shadow Ball/T-bolt/Conversion and that last move is totally up to you… Recover gives you longevity, Substitute lets you duck status, Nasty Plot gives you murderdeathkill power, Ice Beam gives you flawless coverage, and Tri-Attack allows you to bluff the Z-Conversion and have a single-use nuke that nothing that isn’t part-Ghost is going to enjoy taking.
Dammmmmn! See that’s why I want a priority poke on my time. Preferably Espeed Dnite. But it doesn’t seem possible to get E speed on Dnite in gen 7.
I think Incineroar can put in work. I’m gonna try out these sets and see which is the most viable and worth it. I think emphasizing it’s bulk is the way to go personally.
Here is an example of how he can win you a game under the right settings. Notice in particular that LeLe who has one of the strongest hits in OU with Psychic Terrain Psychic only did 40% too Porygon Z after the boost and P-Z ohkos in return behind veil. It made it a 3hit KO behind veil. Mega Scizor which is bulky almost got hit ohko’d. Mega Scizor needed to boost and still couldn’t get the ohko. This things pairs up well with another setup sweeper because it can literally break through things could give your sweeper a problem. If you play ninetails her main job is to get up Veil and get out for your sweeper to do work. I run gyardos because when it mega evolves its bulky as hell tanking almost everythings like specs Thunderbolt from KoKo and getting a DD in its face to kill it and win the next turn. IF you kill the checks first you are guaranteed 2 boost and game with gyarodos but use any sweeper you like. Just adjust Porygons set for that.
Protip: If P-Z is a ghost, E-speed and mach punch don’t work on it. So yeah Dragonite won’t help.
Oh yeah Gyrados is a poke on my team. And true ghost Porygon-Z is a strong possibility so that wont help. Guess Either a choice scarfer or another pirority poke. Hey maybe a sp defensive Inconeroar could be a check to it. It has Earthqualke Drakest Larriat and Flare Blitz to hit it for super effective damage no matter what type of it’s usual moves it turns into. That is assuming it could take a boosted Thunderbolt with spd def investments. I could opt for Incineraor having a spd def plus nature but is it that serious?
Pory-Z is just a great piece on the right team set up, but I don’t think its something people will actually have to build teams in mind of… So long as you’re building to check Koko and Marowak, P-Z shouldn’t really fuck you over too bad.
And just like everything else that needs to set up, it loses to Taunt and/or just punching it as hard as possible.
Your probably gonna better off running a defensive set. Especially when it gets intimidate. The good thing is if it has any boosting moves it can take advantage behind Ninetails AV. But I would run a defensive set for now and maybe making a defensive core with gyarados if you choose not to run it as a mega. The thing is you HAVE to keep rocks off the field because you would have way too many mons weak to it. You will be weak to anyone with stone edge or rock slide which seems to be on a lot of mons I have seen in OU.
Back to P-Z
I primarily use it as a wall breaker. If I see its easier to win with it then it becomes the primary wincon but usually it just comes in midgame kills 2-4 Mons and then Gyarados just goes into win from that. Like Po said it just can work on teams really well for what it does. If you REALLY wanted to build a team around I would probably run spikes or stick web support maybe both. I think Spikes puts majority of OU in Range of Adaptability Tbolt/Shadowball. Sticky web is mainly just to ensure it goes first when setting up.
Nah I don’t plan on making it the crux of my team. I’m mainly using it because of your recommendation and seeing how it goes.
So far my team is looking like
Support Aloan Nintales
Coversion Z sweeper PorygonZ
Sp Def Bulky Incineroar
Either Mega Gyrados or Normal physical Bulky Gyrados to form a defensive core with Incineroar like you recommended.
Special sweeper Tapu Koko
And I guess last would need to be a entry hazard remover that can also cover my rock weakness. Any recommendations?
I guess give Porygoz-Z a easier time of setting up with Aurora Veil? I mean I guess ultimately my focus is a well balanced team with more emphaise on bulk and survivability. With a poke or two providing hard hitting fast offense. Aloan ninetales and Porygon Z were recommended.
My only issue with a-ninetails is more so that there isnt much that benefits from hail. It doesnt seem to cover much for your team outside of aurora veil, especially when running a fairly bulky pivot team it seems. I think replacing it with something to sets up hazards would be better. The team is gonna force a lot of switches between gyarados and inciniroar so you def want to make them more weary about switching.
Ttar is a ridiculously good mon that it was worth it even if it hurt your team. Ninetails isnt as good as ttar was in past gens (jury still out this gen)
Yeah what @Mood4food77 said. Ttar was like what Black Luster Soldier Envoy Of The Beginning was to Yugioh. Even if it didn’t gel with the rest of the squad. It alone was so game changing you almost had to run it. Aloan Ninetales doesn’t look to be as necessary, and doesn’t fir with what I’m trying to do with this team. I think a entry hazard setter and remover would serve me better. So @Mood4food77 Would you say a pokemon with both entry hazard setup and removal would be good, or one deicated to each job?
Right now my team is looking like
Spl def Bulky Incineroar with Choice Band
Physical Bulky sweeper Gyrados Or Mega Gyrados
Special Sweeper Tapu Koko
Possibilities
Rapid Spin Tsareena or scarf Tsareena for Volt turn combo with Koko( Incineroar also gets U turn as well. Is U turn useful on a slo pokemon? )
I misclicked. Yeah I got mad at myself there. Either way it was a test.
Lol @Smogon for banning Lando I (which I haven’t seen much of) yet Pheremosa and fucking Genesect still are free to use. Whatever I’ll go back to refining my new team idea.
Porygon Z is fun to use. Has there been a list yet of what all non attacking Z moves do yet or are others still trying to figure things out?
@Infernoman The most organized place is Bulbapedia. Basically for attacking moves, z crystals only give you a move bp buff. Unless it’s a custom z-crystal. For status moves everything is different for every move. In general, most are weak except Z Belly Drum, Z Heal Bell, Z Conversion, and Z Celebrate. Z Memento is pretty strong too.
