Community: The Thread

The show isn’t getting any ratings because people are dumb. Blame people who want to just watch OW MY BAWLS on A and E.

“He’s gonna get hit in the balls”

EDIT - Maybe the show got average ratings, whatevs, I don’t get the whole internet “Lets get mad as a gang!” thing that has been so popular in culture lately. Like Freaks and Geeks got cancelled, stop writing petitions for it and watch new things. If anything Mission Hill was better then all those shows AND it was animated, I NEED TO START A PETITION.

“Let’s get mad as a gang!” predates the Internet. It does not, however, predate the warp drive.

Shut up, go write a blog post about it then, I hate you.

Maybe I will. And I’ll splice plenty of commas and put the URL in my sig while I’m at it.

That is why we should only support comedies on premium cable channels like FX or HBO, because there are no ratings expectations on them and they will succeed forever even if no one watches them.

I mean how are Always Sunny and Curb into EIGHT SEASONS? That is amazing. Though I think the combined budget for an episode of either show is probably like…a hundred bucks.

NBC needs viewers for advertisers to give them money, I can’t really blame them for not sticking with a show - no matter how objectively good - that doesn’t get numbers. It’s the nature of the game.

But it would be easier to forgive them if they didn’t fuck around with the show’s schedule so much and fired the main guy who made it that good in the first place.

And I also blame the general American public and also the shitty inability of NBC’s marketing team for being unable to advertise such a good product.

Also hard to blame NBC for Chevy Chase leaving. He is old, racist, and sexist and thinks television is below him, I think it was going to happen eventually regardless.

WHAT, this is a mean thing, you have typed a mean thing, to me!

At least I am not in the lounge trying to show everyone crap I draw/do everytime I do it like 3 or 4 people in there who won’t be named.

Srsly though my blog is so bad. I love my bad blog. It is so green now. There is a sloth at the top of the page! I am funny!

The third season is on sale today on amazon for 9.99. Which is a really good price if you don’t already have it.

FINALLY!!! OCTOBER 19TH IS UPON US! [February 7th]. I’m so excited for the new season to start! Looks like a bunch of crazy shit is gonna happen… to think… this show was supposed to be about community college.

Predictably enough, the new episode was ass. Unless I hear that the next episode is a massive improvement, I’m done. I almost didn’t watch this one.

This was the only scene I bust out laughing:

I miss the old days…

Ha, it was totally like new futurama.

I am so out. It was like an ADD explosion of stuff.

It was like Community fanfiction. No sense of the characters, every last bit of it uncreative and derivative of previous gags.

Hey, everyone, isn’t it funny when Pierce makes infantile jokes about balls? Let’s have him do that again!

Yeah it was like they tried to do every meme in the show at once.

Good times!

I didn’t see it, but do I want to after you guys’ reviews? I really liked this show and it would hurt to see it turned to shit. I’ll just wait for this Thursday I guess.

The fanfiction comment sums it up best. The show was just horrible, it was trying to say “Hey, we’re the same…look!” without any of the wit. I’d like to think Dan Harmon would have opened the season with a comment on how characters become caricature of themselves as the show progresses, but instead we got a non-ironical take on this. the characters just became caricatures of themselves. I’ll watch tonight, but i don’t hold out hope at all.

The humor was already becoming derivative by the end of last season imo, but fans didn’t wanted to admit it. A sudden drop in quality, even if A to B-, is a bad sign for all shows.

I agree, though last season had not only the strongest episode of Community, but also one of the best written television episodes ever put on TV with Remedial Chaos Theory.

Completely forgot there was a 4th season. Looks like I should keep on forgetting.

Season 3 sagged a bit following the break, but it never lost sight of the characters and it consistently found at least a few new things to do with each episode. What’s happening now is full-on superficial recycling, which is something Community hasn’t even come close to doing before now.

I fear tonight’s Halloween episode. The last 3 have been excellent, season 2’s being the best and one of the finest nods to zombie films ever put on TV.
