Community: The Thread

Great stuff:

Spoiler

Pierce initially being unable to do anything in the game except run left.

Abed’s… activities in the game.

Britta brittaing the potion and inadvertently beating Gus with it.

Annie and Shirley’s morals quickly eroding in the game world.

The “themes” of the levels.

The 8-bit sprites in general.

Chang’s Napoleon costume.

“Okay, before it was just my head… now I’m really in.”

Troy and Abed’s plumber personas.

“But then it’s going to turn out that the failing plan was all part of the plan.”

That keytar solo. The keytar at all.

Troy and Abed’s Lost In Translation moment.

Evil Abed, when viewed by regular Abed, has a real goatee.

The fact that nobody ever studies on this show comes back to haunt Jeff.

“You’re the center slice of a square cheese pizza. No, wait. That sounds delicious.”

Jeff’s strategy for dealing with Pierce in court.

Evil Abed strutting through the halls of Greendale.

Troy does battle with the new Vice-Dean, becomes the AC messiah, and makes everyone in HVAC stop being so weird.

Winger (apparently being genuine for once) upholds the virtues of good, inspiring everybody in the way that Evil Abed wished he could.

I only wonder why Annie was so overlooked. Maybe in the next season.

It’s official: Harmon is no longer the Community showrunner.

I enjoyed Troy correcting the AC school for being crazy.

I remember reading how community was loosely based on the creators life. Season 1 was very down to earth but had its charm, the funny thing is Season 2 the most popular one seems to go extremely meta. 3 is even more meta so it’s something I doubt he wanted in the first place but to see him leave sucks.

EDIT: Reading the article more it seems he may have been more of a problem? We never hear the true story online anyway. I drool at the chance to watch a e-true hollywood story on community.

Terrific piece on what makes Community special, by Matt Zoller Seitz.

I stumbled onto the Video Game episode and I was EXTREMELY pleasantly surprised.

This show is lolicious and the show was a great tribute to gamers. will look into this show.

ugh. i think we might as well think of season 3 as the series finale at this point. to me firing dan harmon is like telling chris nolan he cant do part 3 of his trilogy and hiring someone else to do it for him.

It has been suggested in several articles that Harmon has known for a while now that his time would be up at the end of season 3, which is why the finale feels so much like a series finale. It is the Dan Harmon farewell.

Matt Zoller Seitz summed up the situation on the Twitter, referring to Harmon’s inexperienced management style and occasional behind-the-scenes difficulties: “Dan Harmon was worth the trouble.”

Harmon speaks.

I haven’t even been watching Community lately (work and my tiredness after it got in the way), but how the fuck do they intend on continuing without Dan Harmon? Seriously. What was the point of even bringing the show back?

Damn goody, you are all up in the butt of community news.

It’s sad to see the show “go”, but the last season could be funny? I’ll still watch the first like 4 episodes to see what happens.

I just hope Happy Endings isn’t effected with some of their writers coming over to be the new show runners because that show really came into it’s own in it’s second season.

Nevermind, Happy Endings will be fine, I ALSO FOUND OUT THERE WAS A FINAL EPISODE THAT WASN’T AIRED IN THE US. THIS IS A-MAZ-ING.

PS - Watch Happy Endings.

I’m sure the show will still be worth watching. They still have pretty much the same cast and crew. I will temper my expectations, though.

Some more Community goodies: the “ask me anything” threads on Reddit, featuring…

Dan Harmon
Danny Pudi
Donald Glover

I was both angry and sad when I read Harmons post on Tumblr. I follow him and sat there in Vegas, at a bachelors party house that should have been nothing but sin and fun, and just got angry and sad over losing the mad genius behind Community…

For me, this season finale was the series finale. I expect next “season” to be like the Scrubs final season aka total ass.

Harmon is a cunt though plain and simple. He’s a genius but he doesn’t understand the business aspect of being a showrunner at all. Network suits are the same type of garbage they’ve always been. People want dumb shit to watch on NBC, the mouthbreathers give physical ratings and the horseshit that CBS puts out there is the gold standard for everyone else.

I’m pouring one out for the death of one of my favorite shows of all time.

the kickball episode? yeah i randomly found that on bittorrent…wtf abc.

Does anyone know if Anamanaguchi did the 8-bit theme or was it some other chiptune group? I can’t find anything online about it.

I really wish I could have seen some digital versions of the Dean and Chang in that 8-bit episode. I’m really curious as to who created the graphics/chiptune music for that episode. Paul Robertson maybe? The baby Abeds had me DYING! Also Abed’s and Troy’s bromance is epic. Abed: She can make babies for me. Troy: OH AND I CAN’T?! … I can’t…

Some of the references in the story I noticed:

Abed saying how raising your affection level with a character has its benefits (almost all RPG type games have this)
Super Mario Maps
Hitting Hawkthrone in the knee with baby abeds (arrow to the knee joke reference)
Hilda’s List of Knowledge contains a CRAPLOAD of video game references

Happy Ending is such an underrated show. I love all the characters except for Dave. But I always loved Eliza Coupe (Jane) ever since Scrubs. Love that hoe…

i dont think anyone likes dave lol. i feel like he’s just a necessity.

Fuck that Dave is great.

IMPREGNAAAAABBBBBLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEE!!!
