Community Team Tech Development: Cycle 11 Strider Hiryu/Doctor Strange/Akuma

what about neutral tech normal? I can foot dive it but prolly not on reaction, and if they block I get corner comboed since I cant dash cancel it. I don’t see this being practical in a real match from the testing I did.

There’s nothing stopping someone getting an idea about another team, labbing it up and sharing it on the forums. I think the idea is to have this be a focused effort.

ty ryder for giving me the idea to do mixups off a knockdown and not just a hitstun reset

that being said here is this

If Honzo wins with that video, does that mean he gets to pick the team again?

I am picking zero/vergil/wesker if I win, and I have a lot more content on the way.

Change the order and you actually have a good team.

Im pretty sure Honzo just won.

Wow the guy who has played that team for 2 years won. What a shocker.

Okay in all seriousness, there are too many posts in here that are not contributing to the thread at all. Please do not take something like this that is a great idea with great intentions and turn it to garbage.

With that being said, I just found this thread so this video isn’t for the team we’re talking about, but here is a Taskmaster combo with my team from midscreen using that combo BlackManSmart found last week. Not gunna lie on the fact that the execution is a bit hard but only towards the end of the combo. 1 meter, 6 shield skills, 19 arrows, 904,400 damage.

Does this work on smaller characters?

@ Honzo, that combo is corner only I presume?

If they were holding forward during Ammy’s flash or not blocking before it do they get hit immediately? If so that’s a pretty godlike setup. And it’s worth investigating for other characters with 0f hypers post flash.

Well… “Goofyhatmatt1” totally gave Honzo that last tech in the comments of one of his other Doom/ammy vids… But I digress, lol.

So where do we stand at this point?

LeafColonel translated his JS Tasky setups over to Cold Star so that covers incoming unblockable setups though we still don’t have a confirmed one for air mobility character. I feel like some meaty jump sword normals should just about round that out tho and I wouldn’t be surprised if you couldn’t turn a pushblock off that into a guard break setup. Might be hard to confirm if CS is already out on incoming, but might be able to use the missiles + super to cover the grab option. (Is there really not any way to use missiles to OTG ala Spencer tech?)

Also the badass mixup string, partial missiles setups, and TAC Baits.

We have new/better Doom/ammy corner setups off hard KDs from Honzo/Ryder.

We have new DHC options from Honzo/Goofyhatmatt1.

I don’t think there’s anything more to look into the ground throw > cold star + super midscreen as I would call it consistent, just a tight link. (I don’t know if there’s a consistent corner option but 1~2 frame raw S followup works on at least some of the cast.)

General consensus that Cold star is a booty assist for extending with doom but that might not even matter with the better corner setups.

Lots and lots of whining about why people aren’t getting free tech for their team instead of putting anything useful towards the cause.

So that leaves:

Better solo non-xf ammy combos. Personally, I don’t really know if there’s much more to explore past what the ammy mains have already put out.

Better doom/ammy incoming mixups. Though doesn’t he already have a pretty gdlk Hard Kick guard break/combo OS that would only be made better by having cold star for the lockdown on block? (or did this get proven to not work well?)

Better Ammy Bomb mixups. Feel like there’s been enough discussion about foot dive > fly crossup/non-crossup on top of the normal double/triple overhead/tridash L hi/low game and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s not just a place that you can grab them during the back half of the super. If that’s not a character on a silver platter, I’m not sure what is.

What is there to look into past this?

The only thing I think would be worth looking into is if there’s better assists options for Doom or Tasky. I feel like there’s enough tech to say that CS is the best option for Ammy at this point.

I plan to go and look into Vert. Arrows since I feel hori arrows is repetitive when you have cold star and it’s one of the few assists that allows for special combo options because of the hitsun/THC synergy.

With Doom, are there specific setups that warrant having missiles over beam or rocks? (aside from the double super Tasky ender.) I feel like rocks might be worth looking into since it gives you a meterless throw pickup and probably sets up some interesting left/right/unblockable setups in neutral with it’s speed/startup.

okay can we at least try to make this interesting instead do something like Ammy/Spencer/Doom?

What tech is there for blockstrings with this team? Do both Task and Doom have stuff where on hit you get a full combo but on block you get a mixup?

If there’s one for Task then what about using Task Arrows + Doom Beam (or missiles) to give Task cover to get in and then set something up with Cold Star?

The only advantage Rocks gives Taskmaster over beam is the fact that it picks up throws. Plasma beam gives him better zoning/better screen control and covers shield skills better, and gives him full screen confirms off kara arrows. Missiles just improves his zoning quite a bit, gives him more air control which is important. Plasma/Missiles both work well and should be used per matchup basis. Moons has Task throw super pickups with cold star, and has cold star extensions. And there is a double Taskmaster hyper missiles extension already posted by Honzo a while ago. I really don’t know the timing for that stuff since I don’t play Task with those characters.

The Up Arrows + Missiles setup into Shield Skills x2 setup should cover air mobility characters. You just need to time the second shield skills with the last blockstun of missiles + cold star. It’s probably alot easier to set up with quicker assists. There are probably meaty jump attack strings that might set up unblockables/guard breaks with Task too, I didn’t find any yet though.

Taskmaster pretty much has that built in with Mighty Swing + assist. Assists keep the swing safe + locks down long enough so you can set up Task’s high/low mixups, which are empty arrows into low, triple overhead(jMH), double overhead(jH), single overhead(jS), You can also set up a fuzzy or low throw mixups after that. Honzo also posted a full screen Hidden Missiles fuzzy setup too.

The combo is still a work in progress but there are certain instances that allow for height adjustments and stuff like that…at the moment, the very beginning is possible on small characters and the person that found it demonstrated THREE loops of air arrows on Rocket Raccoon.

Honzo Gonzo does this quite a bit. He wants to master it on his training mode.

The fact that you started from a jump s to boost damage leads me to believe it does less in real game situations (starting with a cr l or cr m where 70% of task combos start). So then I would only do this for meter build persumeably but I cant see how much meter it builds because of the 5 bars.

Why should I do this over my ammy/doom extension?

sigh You could have easily just asked how much damage it does from those situations or how much meter it builds…but anyway, this thread is not about that conversation. I recorded this days before I knew about this thread with the intent to just show the combo possibility after someone found it…I never knew I would end up posting it here.

This is the original video from the person that found it…the damage is far from optimized as it does not include assist extensions or any reps of the shield xx arrows stuff I did…It got about 1.4 meters before the super…and yes…it starts from a c.L

This is the original combo that was found in the corner but towards the end, things get VERY tricky
