Combos and Gameplay Notes

I was playing with this idea (focus+backdash) and you can also ex-stinger xx ex-rekka xx ultra 1, however the ex-stinger has to be late.

I feel like comboing into Stinger is just a waste of meter. I usually cancel pressure strings into Stinger for shenanigans. I rarely use it unless I am in the corner and going for a reset.

What have you guys been doing for frame traps?
I have been doing:

cl.st.LP -> cl.st.MP
cl.st.LP -> cl.st.HK -> cr.MK
cl.st.LP -> cl.st.LK -> st.HK
cl.st.HK -> cr.MK
cr.LP -> st.HK -> cr.LP

Posted in other thread but I’ll post here just in case.

After slide knockdown: dash -> cr.lp, cl.mk hits meaty making him +10 on hit or +7 on block. If they have a slow backdash like Ryu, then you can react with slide to repeat the process.

So this video quality is terrible since my stream equip is down at the moment, and I’m not sure why it recorded so bad. I’ll redo one tomorrow but for now, here is something I was working on.

Involves his standard max damage BnB, ex-OH for the first reset (very hard to block on reaction, non-ex a little more obvious), back into BnB > x3 Rekka for Stun. Knife throw for meter, fp.roll + OH for more meter, BnB > EX Rekka > cl.st FP xx lp.roll > FP followup for Crossup > (this is tricky. Needa exact spacing to get the OH to crossup. Will land infront of whiff altogether if done wrong) link Ultra 2 > DEAD RYU

j.HK, s.HK, c.MK xx EX Air Raid
s.HK, c.MK xx Patriot Circle (Rekka is fine)
instant Stinger (whiff)
HP Air Raid, s.HK, c.MK xx EX Patriot Circle/Rekka
cl.FP xx LP Air Raid (HP Follow-up), U2

Notated purely for my convenience. Roll is slightly confusing because he has two. But only one has an overhead.
Anyway, the numbers I got from the internet don’t have EX Air Raid as a separate move from normal Air Raid. Curious if someone goofed or does it actually have no change in frames? It certainly looks faster.

Never thought of as using super as an AA. It works well actually hmmm. Also helps that Rolento doesn’t use much meter outside EX Pat combos.

As for AA, best I use is St. MP and St. HK. I think if they buff one of these moves he would be alright in the AA department. Still would have issues but be a bit better. Extend those hitboxes.

Wakeup, IDK what to do. He is so free. Tried gimmick rolls and all lol.

Tried my hardest to find a use for QCB P and K. At least QCB P can be use for the corner mix-up mentioned above somewhere. That about it though.

Super actually does some kind of insane chip damage

You can cancel into it from PPP~P or after at least 2, maybe 3 rekkas on block. Great way to finish a match!

Also, Rolento only has two invincible moves, which are PPP and QBC+KK. Everything else is not physical attack invul. QCB+PP and DP+KK are projectile invul.

links. and it’s still sorta difficult.

cr.LP Startup 4 | Active 2 | Recovery 7 | On Hit 5 | On Block 2

IMO if they gave back the range on cr.MK and gave EX Patriot invincibility again, I’d love Capcom to bits.

+1

I’m having trouble connecting things after Rekka FADC. Is there a certain hit I should be cancelling off of, or certain Rekka version?

Update: BnB of choice into rekka rekka xx super on hit is hilarious.

480 j.hk, cl.hk, c.mk xx rekka xx super (~468 with 2 rekkas)
432 above minus the j.hk (425 2 rekkas)
385 c.mk xx rekka xx super (382 with 2 rekkas)
350 s.lp, s.lp, c.mk xx rekka xx super (339 with 2 rekkas)

Not sure if cancelling on different hits on rekkas is possible to increase/decrease damage, but there you go. Moral of the story: Seems damage is fairly negligible between 1 and 2 rekkas, but if you want that extra bit do it off of one.

you can try cl.hk, cr.mk, hp.rekka (one hit) xx super it gives out 432 dmg and 332 stun but i rather use the meter for combos. i tend to use my super when people try to cross me up or when i smell Elena is gonna do ultra 1 brave dance for example, it sucks her in for damage oh yeah

finding that a little hard/inconsistent, too.

A few setups I have figured out:

In corner: Forward Throw - Dash forward - Jump Delay slightly HP. Hits on front land behind

Close ST HP -> EX Stinger -> Sweep -> Jump Down MK -> Mixup. Really good.

Edit: For the Pogo Mixup. After sweep instantly pogo to stay in front. To cross up, walk forward slightly and then jump pogo.

what are you guys doing after focus backdash crumple? im doing instant knife throw cr.hk, but i feel like i can be doing more

If you wanna spend meter you could probably just go straight into ex patriot circle and juggle after that butttt I think, knife throw then slide will be best options.

U2 works off knife throw. Other than that not really a lot more that he can do.

I tried testing out if you could use the limited juggle properties on Air Raid for Focus Attack Backdash combos but you hit your opponents too low to the ground to get anything. So far knife to sweep is the best damage I could find without meter. You get 190 off a lvl 2 focus and some decent meter build.
