Can we get a dedicated combo thread going? What are your bnb’s and most damaging combos? I would like to know what is a good combo after being tagged in from a launcher?
Do a ex tiger knee then with a wallbounce do another one it’s good for damage.
Sagat hasn’t really got any complicated combos like a lot of the cast. His shit is relatively easy and leads to massive damage.
cr.MP, cr.MP, EX TK (wall bounce), j.HK, hp TU… is my go-to combo.
Off a tag cancel Geyser Cannon with Nina he can get f.HK into TU. Coming in off a Cross Rush I just go for cr.MP, TU.
Has anyone come up with a tag cancel combo with sagat as the starting character yet?
I’d like to see that too.
What is his best bang-for-buck jump in? I’ve been using:
j.HK-> c.MK -> xx EX TK -> HP TU [1 meter, 332 dmg]
I am not with my game, but I believe j.HK-> c.MP -> c.MP -> EX TK -> j.HK -> HP TU works.
Also, when you tag cancel and can get a F.HK, you can get a c.MK after it. So F.HK -> c.MK -> HP TU does a little more damage.
You can super at the end instead of the TU, 512 damage , but 3 bars, probably only good for a kill.
Looks like you can also MK TK in the corner straight into TU or jab TU. As long as you hit with the tip, seems a little easier than the LK TK spacing.
I’m skipping the 2nd c.MP (I suck at links) but the rest is easy to do - cheers man!
Compared to a lot of the cast, I don’t think it’s worth it to spend meter for Sagat combos. The damage he deals for one meter is significantly lower than what many members of the cast can do meterless. Better off saving the meter for EX TU or an alpha counter to give him space when he’s being rushed down.
313 is his peak damage without meter: j.HK->c.MP->c.MPxxHP TU
392 is his peak 1 bar: j.HK->c.MP->c.MPxxEX TK->j.HP->HP TU
524 is his peak 3 bar: j.HK->c.MP->c.MPxxEX TK->f.HK->Tiger Genocide
None of these numbers are very good honestly. Many characters are capable of doing 400+ meterless, 500+ with 1 bar, and 600-700+ with 3 bars.
The problem is that EX TK eats up so much of his juggle potential. Hopefully we figure out a way to bypass it eventually.
It is kind of nuts that Sagat doesn’t seem to be close to the top 5 heavy hitters in this game. I have a feeling there is some good tech that leads to much more damage. Get your scarred chests in the lab.
yea after playing around more with sagat aqnd some of the tekken characters,
sagat’s combos are actually pretty weak and doesnt really hit that hard in comparison to people like kazuya and steve fox
my curent bnbs are
c.lk -> c.mp -> c.mp xx HP TU or end it with ex TK, j.hk, HP TU
c.mp -> c.mp -> s.lk,c.mk,c.fp cross launcher is also something im using.
Who is doing over the low-mid 600s with 3 bars? Damage scaling in this game is HARSH, I just have not seen it done.
Sagat’s a point character; he doesn’t do massive damage, but he does constant damage and provides a good way to build meter and get a solid tag off. Run him with a combo monster (I use King) and you can do almost 400 damage meterless with a cr.mk into magic series
I agree. Good thing about Sagat is your never going to miss your combo’s, hit confirm into EX and the rest is gravy. With the tekken characters they will eat a lot of Alpha/Reversals because of the likelihood of a fuck up.
I’m actually enjoying the basic play of Sagat in a game already littered with too many options. If you can find a partner with a good Tag cancel special Sagat can just plow straight into EX TK - JK - TU for a brain dead easy 400 plus. Taking your Gem selection into consideration, running something like the +20% on partners launcher and your not far off the 500’s.
That and he builds meter FAST. Even whiffing standing HK, MK or FWD HK which you’ll be using as zoning tools anyway, is going to build you meter as you zone. It’s a win win.
The only thing , I wish we could combo off the fwd-lk, as a single move it seems pointless considering his better kara’s are with HK. I would have liked more corner options also.
Early day’s, still new tech to be found.
Situational, but if you land a ch f.lk on a standing opponent you can jump in and wreck shop. Works if you charge lvl 2 ex and dash cancel, but it’s probably better to just release the ex TK because it’s +1 on block.
Can you imagine how fucked up he’d be if he could charge tiger shots…damn
Yeah, I was a little disappointed they gave the TK the charge. Especially since Ryu is looking good for Top tier right now, he basically has everything good that he ever had in every game. Plus there is some OP shit in this game, Rufus dive kick off the top of my head.
There’s certain situations you can tag cancel into a full charged genocide, the timing is a little strict but with Law, if you qcf-mp into machine gun punches and tag cancel immediately, you can charge Super and land it. EX charges quicker but obviously costs you a bar. I’m sure there’s a few of these situations in the game, just gota find the right set ups.
All this is theory training though, character fall animations may make some of these things situational.
do you guys feel sagat is better in this game or super?
I’m really liking him in this game. In the corner, far cr mik xx lk tk, cr lp, cr lp, cr mp xx hp TU
Not sure if intentional or not but I giggled.
Lol , actually it wasn’t but I’m laughing now too.
