damn
Yall see that Soul Calibur V news on the frontpage!?!?
@ Optimus: Soul Calibur 5!! Soul F#@$#! Calibur 5 has been announced!!! My hype levels have risen dramatically XD
I’ll be having casuals after 6pm today. Would have announced it in the forums yesterday, but my internet is down at my house and didn’t get home until 6:15pm. 7pm for casuals seemed too late for some of you guys anyway.
My initial impression for Tsubaki was that she sucks. However, after finding out that she does 3.3K without charge meter mid-screen, learning new bnb’s and doing 6K corner carry combos with only two bars of meter, my opinion changed quickly. Not to mention her normals got buffed and 2C is now jump cancel-able.
Jin does stupid damage mid screen and will be a very solid sub for me. Once I get access to dustloop at home, I’ll test out some more combos and frame-traps. He basically plays almost the same as his CS version except he does more damage.
Platinum is just trollin’ and combos seem almost brain dead easy to execute. Like most of the cast, she really only does damage in the corner from what I can tell. Don’t really see myself playing this character since she’ mainly rush down and gets hit in the mouth by most of the cast, lol.
Edit:
@ Eskay: I hope your ready for that 10K no meter/arcana Saki derp
@dr.hat: Soul Calibur V would be announced on your B-Day!!! Hope you have a great one. Have all the guard impacts, fatalities, Asian food you can take.
@Jaguar: Only if your ready to eat 9k Kotodama pie. My time arcana shenaningans aren’t quite ready. The initial setup is a bit tricky to pull off and will require more time spent in training mode.
happy birthday pat!
Oh my god, CS2 is so bad. I’d sooner go back to CT.
Arcsys, I am disappoint.
Reason’s why?>
Man i thought the exact same thing when i played Carl and Bang…but then i played Mu-12 and found out she was mostly the same as in CS1 and enjoyed the game all over again…blocking for a good 10seecs was a bit annoying though…im not a fan of IB getting nerfed the way it did
P.S Fuck the Heat…that shit is garbage
I can’t DO anything with Ragna.
Inferno Divider doesn’t wall bounce anymore
can’t combo off of 3C at all anymore
can’t combo off of Carnage Scissors
Seems like untechable time is way lower for everyone.
Did a simple combo into GH and they were able to tech out before the 214D (wtf)
The game just feels so stiff and terrible now.
EDIT, so you don’t like it because what you were doing in cs1 has changed in ,…?
People are looking for the exact same game and just can’t understand that it is different. So you can’t do anything with the character you’ve been playing since CT… big fucking deal? Maybe they MADE it this way because they were tired of people like you… and someone else in our community getting by just because ( insert character here ) barely changed from the previous version. They don’t want CT -> CS Bang all over again.
Bias aside, anyone that dislikes the game just because their respective character(s) have changed shouldn’t even bother with the game in the first place. It obviously isn’t for them.
I felt that everything they did in CS2 needed to be done. From the character changes to the instant block nerf. Yes it is regrettable that IB took the massive hit that it did, but as players, the adjustment needs to be made. I guess this is what Keyon meant when he said " Some people will be exposed in CS2. "
IB nerf is fine, and I’d say most of the damage tweaks are for the better as well. That’s not the problem I have with CS2. My biggest problem is the combo system feels more limited overall, and not just Ragna. I feel like that is a terrible way to make a game “better.” Unless something is specifically broken or overpowered, why nerf it?
Yes, Bang and Litchi needed some nerfs, but not quite to the extent that they got them. Ragna needed a meter gain nerf, (which he got) but did he really need for his moves to do less damage AND not be able to combo after half of them?
lol at thinking Justin hasn’t had to deal with new versions of games and his characters before
Had fun during casuals yesterday playing AH3 and need to work on my air homing game better. I’ll be heading to Game Nation right after work, so I can plan with the owner how I’d like to use their floor space. I may also run a stream, along with recording the matches as well. Here’s to hoping that Windows 7 won’t fail me like Vista has ^__^’
Now that I have internet at my house again, I’ll be working some Jin nonsense from dustloop for a bit and practice SSFIV today. Hopefully, people who mainly play BB on PS3 get the CS2 update today. I’m assuming you guys will find out this afternoon?
@ Pat: Happy Belated Birthday! I didn’t find out it was your birthday until Keyon told me yesterday. I’ll make sure to get you something, if you wanna head by Maddness tomorrow.
@ AwardTour: Congratz to you as well! Just heard you finally left that hell hole for something better (you know what I’m talking about).
Also, THE CELTICS ARE FRAAAAAAY!!!
@justin, vague reason is vague, How does the combo system feel more limited, how much exploring have you done with the game? From watching cs2 matches i felt that ragna was actually doing more then CS(5b/5c herderp blodia edge, herp derp) Inferno Divider still bounces in the corner.
We got a guy in Charleston where he can’t get into blazblue b/c shit does too much damage but it’s ok in mortal kombat, and Dudes in MB who feel their character got neutered. How does one shot web…
We got dudes here that deemed the game terrible because the easiest character in the game in the previous got gutted and actually requires a brain and more than just 10 minutes of training mode. Those same people are playing MvC3.
So the game got changed around and everyone has to suffer with what has came. I know damn well that you, Justin, are no stranger to changes within a certain environment. However, from my point of view, all I see are complaints that they made an otherwise easy character more complicated because you now have to weigh other options into your combos instead of doing what you were for free damage + meter. Anyone else looking from the outside in are going to think the same thing unless they somehow share that flawed sense of thinking.
Or play games that they believe are better and/or harder, but take much less skill and even less execution to get into. No need to open that can of worms further.
Keyon’s reasons and I know for damn sure Lord Knight’s reasons for dropping Litchi aren’t just because she can’t do this and that into free 4k damage + okizeme. It’s the fact that they’ve become boring - that they do not entertain them anymore and simply believe that it is time to move onto something that not only is viable for tournament play, but someone else that they enjoy. I am thinking about quitting Valkenhayn because not only is he not entertaining ME anymore because of potentially burning out, I believe that since it is a NEW GAME that I should, once again, weigh my options. His damage got nerfed and so did his best normals/bnb’s… but I assure you that it is not the reason as to why I’d quit him or even deem the game bad or in your words " stale. "
I guess what I am trying to say in all of this is… explore it more. Do not look for CS1 in CS2 because you will be thoroughly dissapointed and make what you can of it. Everyone else is so I am sure you can too.
The problem is that it’s not a “New Game” in any sense. It’s a balance patch, a bandaid. They only titled it CS2 for arcade because they added the console DLC characters.
Anyways, if this were actually a new game, I wouldn’t expect everything from the previous game to still work. I would however, expect there to be a lot of new options, properties, combos, etc to keep it interesting. (Which CS2 doesn’t seem to be doing)
CT->CS was an overall positive change. Rachel excluded, the rest of the cast got new tools to work with. Damage was decreased, but that was ok because there were a lot of new combo possibilities (and meter gain was faster)
The general impression of CS2 is that they really don’t want you to just do your best BnBs midscreen anymore. Evidence being the nerfs to wallbounce and some throws not being special cancelable. If you want to do real damage, you have to get them in the corner.
Really, what makes me dislike it, is that it feels like they are taking away more options than they are giving us.
Majority of the cast is doing this in cs2.
When it comes to my character Makoto for example, She was considered by most mid tier. Reasons why is because she was probably considered the epitome of a high risk/high reward character in CS. Majority of her options were unsafe. You could punish those options even without instant blocking, which i didn’t understand. Lets reward you by letting you punish Makoto even though you don’t know how to properly use a part of the games mechanic. It takes a lot more from the player to be able to use Makoto well. But when it comes to that point, i believe she jumps to A tier in CS. In midscreen, if you want big damage you have to play counter-hit hunter with her 5b/5c inorder to hit confirm into her 2C which carries into the corner for atleast 6k. If not you can play this risky ass pressure mix-up game with her gatlings that you can grab her out of, or her Astral vision “mix-ups” that you can do anything to. She the most scary in the Corner.
Then you have cs2, where the vast majority of players consider her the best character in the game. They pretty much changed her from High risk/high reward, to Low Risk/high reward. Because of the nerfs they did to the top tier characters in CS2 and the buffs they gave her, she rises from A tier to S tier. They sped up her normals, sped up her Astral vision so that it can actually be deemed useful. She still needs to hit confirm her 2C to do big damage midscreen, but the risk isn’t as high.
TL:dr, They changed the game more then you think. Yes, her combo damage has been nerfed, but that shouldn’t be the overall reason why this character isn’t bad, or why this character isn’t good. This game is more then hitting your combos.
TL:dr again: She got new options, properties on her moves changed therefore changing her combos. Same thing with Ragna, and the vast majority of the cast.
TL:dr again again: There is no such thing as instant gratification in blaz. (Usually >_>)
Thomas and Ben, both of you should really take a moment to shut up some times and stop talking out your asses simply because you both feel like your elitist in this game or some shit (real talk, you arent).
Folks who didnt like the game when they first touched it have every right to not like the game up front. its their opinion, stop shitting on it because you dont like it. On top of that, you need to chill with all these assumptions as to WHY folks dont like the game (because quite frankly, u dont know…or u sure as fuck dont know what my reasons are, so let me lay it out for you).
Bang’s nerfs ive been aware of for a long time and was fully aware of how it looked, both on paper and in practice (i kept up with the loketest changes)…however when i actually played him, he felt slower. Im not aware of if he got nerfed in the speed department but he did feel sluggish and that was a huge turn off. Fuck all this talk about “waaaah, person X is bitching because he cant do herp derp damage”…that was NEVER the reason i played that character. I played him b/c i wanted to utilize FRKZ (which i made clear from day 1 of picking him up) but all most of you people did was BITCH when i did that, so u took the fun out of it and i stopped trying.
Carl…i dunno where to even start with this character. I never spent the time fully developing the character so the fact that i lost the 2 advance things i could do with him…although somewhat expected…really didnt sit well with me. His J.C seems worthless with the way it slams people down on hit and his overall gameplay feels like Eddie from GG more than ever, which is a huge turn off b/c i didnt like that character for specific reasons.
Mu-12 was a character that all of you saw me using about 2 months before the loketest began for CS2. On top of that, i used her more in casuals then i did Carl or Bang…id switch from her b/c folks were bitching that Mu-12 is sooooo gay to fight, blah blah blah and all this other shit that people dont care about, but i still try to be nice and dont want people raging over a game they “love so much”. So now CS2 comes…Mu-12 has actually retained most of her stuff with some changes that i was able to quickly adjust to moreso than Carl or Bang and…it sounds like folks arent happy with that…well tough shit. Do i plan to main her in CS2 if i play it? yes. Do i care if your happy or mad with that? no, fuck you and your opinion on who i play and why.
As you all like to say…fucking deal with it. If your trying to get more of us to play this game you love so goddamn much, stop acting like dicks and actually do something to be positive rather than try to anonymously put people on blast.
