The $10 entry fee was also something I suggested for the exact reason mentioned. Most tourney’s that get alot of attention have a minimum entry fee of $10. I also agree that maybe better advertising would draw in more ppl, but if we want out of towners to come, a bigger pot might be more attractive to those that like to travel.
@SimpleKiss: I welcome our new overlords, at the very least, they cant be as big a douche bag as dictator.
I had more fun helping with things like that than actually participating. So, there will probably be a lot more of me doing that. I’ll probably enter the next tournament, but I am not all that enthusiastic about throwing away money like that. For Blazblue? Maybe. For SSFIV? Definitely not. I’m gonna be that guy and say that I found it hilarious ( and sad at the same time ) that only one person entered for KoF. That’s about what I expected, due to our gaming scene.
As for $10 for an entry fee, I honestly don’t see any reason for -not- doing it. Granted, it would be $15 total just to play people that are already in our community, but if we plan on scaling this idea of ours up, then we need to show everyone else that we’re just as serious. Eventually, Madness will obtain more games for them to be a much more entertaining venue.
As for the bracket confusion, that would be my fault at the end. I put that Byron won 3-0 in the first set so that it would move them to the second, since Pat was in winners. But for some reason, I must’ve misclicked something and it said Pat had won it all. It doesn’t matter, though! Everyone knows the truth. Guile Cheats.
@Dwaine: We need more Sapporo. I’ll also keep up my end of the bargain for the next tournament. You just need to pull through for me!
sounds like you guys had fun at the tourney, im visiting family down here and i wanted to check out the tourney but things ran behind schedule, maybe next time…
I think $10 is a better entry fee. It’s a bigger pot which gives more people incentive to play to win a larger sum. If I throw $5 and go 0-2, whatever I only lost $5 trying to win $50. If I throw $10 down and go 0-2 I’m way more upset. Players will give much more effort into their work if they’ve invested more for a higher return at the same chances!
@ Blacksmaru: Too bad I couldn’t get a chance to play against you, but feel free to hit me up on XBL. I’m either playing or practicing most of the time.
I’m glad to see that a good bit of people don’t mind the venue fee change. I’m not gonna start advertising for the next tourney until the mid week, so I’ll still be looking for more input.
I decided to keep the audio mixer I bought because it’s only $40 more dollars than what I wanted to pay originally and I remember Dwaine mentioning you should never go cheap on electronics . The next thing I plan on buying is an hdmi splitter and an hdmi capture card. I’ll be purchasing the splitter this week and the capture card in the middle of December.
Thanks to FunkyP, I finally got the voice audio to work with my mixer! I just had to rearrange how I had shit plugged in. When we have casuals at Maddness Gaming this Friday, we can FINALLY do some live commentating.
@ Eskay: What do expect from someone who’s never hooked up a mixer in his life and bought it in a rushed panic? Speaking of “Panic”, I’m watching it right now, lol
@ SimpleKiss: The Bears almost let that victory slip away, but they held it together in the 4th.
@jaguar i’ll add you on my xbl when i get back home, unless i can get on using my sisters xbox, hopefully the connection isnt too bad from hawaii, i’d like to see whats up with the players and the gaming scene down here before i make the big move.
@Jag: Actually i was referring to our usual shenannigans and banter that we always do regardless of there being a mic present. And i know not of this “panic” you speak of. And knowing you i probably dont want to know lol
