Columbia,SC: Going in Strong

well the online is not great on 360 but Bruce is the man, he will probably be my main!

Online is unplayable.

Only play it if you’re absolutely clueless on how to play Tekken and also enjoy the taste of paint chips

So, this is the only gripe there is? bad online play? Figures as much.

I started to pick it up today, it’s shiny case made me go “ohhhh” and “ahhh”.
Online is the only thing I got, no one around here plays Tekken.

Oh! That’s me! Well… I kinda grew out of paint chips when I was younger. Eating paint chips explains a lot about me though…

I don’t know what to think of Tekken so far. I have soooo many combos to memorize, since it seems like most “normals” don’t really do much on their own. It seems like it would be a game where you simply “fish” for that big combo. However, it is pretty good looking game with very interesting characters. I’ll keep experimenting but, truthfully, this game is more overwhelming than BlazBlue because of the dizzying amount of matchups.

Yoshimitsu’s move list has over 100 notated moves in the practice mode moves list.

Fuck learning the matchups, learning over 100 moves and gauging their usefulness will be a fucking chore.

Bach, Byron, Mike…how’s it going? Long time no see (long time no post for me, as well).

Its cool to see Columbia with a nice scene built up (building up? I’m out of the loop). I need to get back into the swing of things.

Well…I feel like I got robbed, I should have bought the regular tekken. The wireless stick is garbage, a TE is a WAY better investment. I hate you namco!

So far, I’ve played 2 online games on Xbox Live, and they are decent. No real bad lag, but I can tell there is that bit of input lag that all online fighters except BB and HDR have.

I love the game so far, including the wireless stick. It’s great for kicking back in training mode, rather than having to stretch my TE’s cord across the room. This will definitely be the other game I’m playing alongside SF4. I’ve been waiting for a 3D fighter that would capture my attention for a loooong time, and this seems to be it. I will be alternating Bruce, Alisa, and Lilli.

Also, back on the subject of online play, I hear Namco said they will definitely be patching it soon. So don’t lose hope!

i’m glad i’m not the only that got cheated. This thing looks like a fisher price toy. What’s up wit batteries and usb port. Shyt aint even got bluetooth.

GG fellas. It’s been a long time since I sessioned in Tekken (or anything for that matter), I forgot how much fun it is, and how many shenanigans there are in the game lol. If you guys, or anyone who is starting out in the game have any general questions on Tekken, feel free to hit me up. For more character specific things on T6, Josh (Icege) is an awesome guy to go to with questions, definitely don’t be afraid to ask - it would be a huge waste not too imo!

I’ll most definitely be over at Pat’s on Thursday around the same time as long as Pat okay’s it.

EDIT: Hey, sup Dingo! I haven’t heard from you in forever, I’ll catch you on AIM sometime soon.

Party at keyon’s house!!! Everyone call keyon!!!

woot!

Who’s Keyon, do I know this person

shut up lol

Sounds good.

I’ve really been out of the loop with fighters (at least the newer ones). I still play a lot, mainly been hitting up 2DF as often as I am able to for Real Bout 2 (love the game to death) and KoF 98, but haven’t really been keeping up with anything outside of that.

I picked up Tekken 6 and I am so lost. WHAT IS THIS THIRD DIMENSION?!

Nothing but an additional axis. It’s not that bad . . . really

Had one of those moments today, where I had several players in a short period of time in SF4, who were not great players, beat me due to mashing DP, getting lucky, then hitting the guaranteed Ultra.

Blanka has to work so hard to get a lifelead on Sagat and in an instant it’s gone. Oh and I still have no clue how to play Tekken, although I think I’m closer to finding a character.

Tekken players. Is the way to learn matchups in Tekken simply to learn every character? Learning matchups is rough with 40 characters. lol.

Oh, and Fall Brawl has reached critical mass. Anything over 30 players is legit. This one has over 30 on SRK alone. lGakmanl told me he expects at least 20 more from USC and who knows how many walk-ins due to flyers in game stores. Jibbo and Cajunstrike from NC are going to be there as are many players from GA. This is going to be the real deal.

It’s like you’re fighting them and laughing, but you then realize that you just got smoked by a single move

I gotta get back on my SF4 grind. My bro was hospitalized about 2 weeks ago due to the Flu and Pneumonia (Yes, it was gravely serious), and I played but my mind wasn’t right. He’s OK now. I am working on Bison, as I kept doing some really stupid stuff. I think The Magician can go to work now.

It would be good to find out a little about each character. I think the easiest way to go about it though is just to talk to people. You can sit around and do the research - - which doesn’t hurt - but talking and hearing about it helps 100% more imo. Watching vids can be helpful, but it also can lead to bad habits (good things in another community could be absolutely terrible in another).

If you can’t get to people though, another way you could go about it is just to analyze your own character. In the game, there are characters that just sit around and poke a lot, turtlers, and characters with stances. I’ll look at my character and see what options he has for each matchup. For example, what’s a good mid or low that can take on stance characters? What are some obnoxiously safe lows and mids that can break turtlers? What gets me out of poke pressure? When you do pick a character, we’ll be able to provide you more detailed answers, but that’s how I go about it.

I’d like to hear how others go about it though, Josh or Mike?

There needs to be another gathering very soon.
