Cody Vers. 2012 Changes

Speaking of strange passthroughs, I was playing a geif yesterday, and threw out a hail mary u2 on wakeup lol.
He jumped and only the dust hit, but then as cody ran forward with the wrench he passed through geif and escaped.

I went into training mode and tried to duplicate for about 20 minutes and could not. Has anyone else seen this before?

if he was airborn and your dust hits fully, the wrench won’t hit anyway. only if the dust hits once, you’ll get a juggle with the wrench.

AFter a crossup j.mk, 2lp 2lp 2lk, the 2lk whiff … on seth at least

How come when im i training mode and i use ruffian mk and i pause at the right moment cody whole foot is inside Ryu stomach and i see it not hitting, why is this?

I’m baaaaack lol anyways has anyone noticed anything weird with regular zonk like charge times, I don’t know if its just me but I’m suddenly getting level 1 zonk a lot.

that’s why:

it DID change with AE tho, but just a bit.

didn’t change as far as I can tell.

can’t reproduce. tried it in both versions and it hits in both. didn’t changed. tho, tbh c.lk was the only thing where I thought the hitbox might have changed, but testing proofed me wrong.

If it was buffed in AE12 just by a little then it shouldn’t even be happening. Literally Cody whole foot is still inside Ryu stomach. Why would they make the hitbox stupid like that anyways? stopsa before the foot… that doesn’t make any sense.

I know that; what I mean was I escaped across the screen and he couldn’t punish. Usually when I get dust only I don’t pass through and they are right in front of me with plenty of time for a free punish. I may have the match saved still.

I’m really liking Cody’s bad spray, it feels so safe. I feel dirty when I bad spray fadc mk ruffian lol kick a man down while he’s blind.

I thought the fadc from bad spray was going to be really good, but bad spray is easily stuffed. I don’t even remember how good it was in regular ae, since I didn’t use it that much.

I don’t think bad spray was supposed to be all that great but it definitely got better, delete patch and see for yourself.

ex zonk, fadc, f.mp, f.hp can be really ambiguously now. if the opponent crouch blocks even for a split second he’ll get hit if timed properly (you can be too fast in fact).

pro tip: just go to config: “change version” and you’ll play super, since cody didn’t recived any major changes from super => ae it’s quite a comfortable way to test differences.

BS was not meant to be abused and can be easily baited and reacted too, so use it sparingly. That ebing said it’s still alot better now

It’s hitbox really feels bigger. I’m pretty sure I can use it at times I couldn’t in AE. It’s no use against Juri though, MetallicMike made me regret trying it

Same for Cammy
Man, I hate this bitch x(

I have been catching a lot of people with the c.lk xx CU after the f.hp, even if I miss the link.

Also, since I have been picking up the knife a lot more I have noticed it has been winning me a lot of games with c.hp, c.lk xx whatever.

Ran into this myself a little bit yesterday. Its not every time but seems more than AE. Strange… However I usually do f+mp link cr.mp xx special, the link is pretty easy and slow enough to hit confirm off just the f+mp, especially on CH.

I’m also attempting to go for harder links more recently, ie f+mp cl.mp, cr.HP. That’s a tough one.

with the lv.3 fa -> ex rocks whiffing on sagat: if you lv.3 fa from max range then dash forward, the ex rocks connect properly (and you are still put in range to follow up with s.hp/c.hp etc.)

also another thing on sagat which happened during a match, i was being corner pressured with block strings ending with tigershot/knee so i guessed an ex bingo through one and it hit and i fadc’d forward and mk.ruffian’d but it whiffed… tried a bit in training and it hit every time, maybe it was situational (early in lobby so unfortunately i dont have the replay saved)

ex zonk puts the opponent much higher now then in vanilla-chocolate (lol), so you need to get used to another slower, timing.

Going for the tough 1f combos is totally worth it. I would advise you learn c.LP, cl.MP, c.HP too. It’s near 290 damage when you finish with HP Criminal Upper and it does a ton of stun. That’s a really big reward for landing a jab. Don’t even really have to confirm it either, since c.LP, cl.MP functions as a decent frame trap too. Even if the cl.MP is blocked you’re still right next to them with a fair bit of advantage (+4 I think). Definitely something worth learning.
