I LOVE the rose changes. it makes her absolutley strongest side even stronger: zoning. +meter gain on sparks, + godlike poke back + cl.mk +1frame advantage are all profound buffs to me. cl.mk will be abused even more. she still lacks a decent reversal, but has the best backdash in the game to compensate, at least. while she is as free to pressure as cody, I don’t think she is as EASY to pressure as cody. whished he would have seen that kind of improvement.
Rose can’t be improved much more now from the buffs that she has recieved without giving her something stupid, I think the only things that can realistically be improved is her focus attack or some very small damage buffs.Everything else is either already good and serves it’s purpose, therefore buffs like fully inv ex spiral or quicker u1 like some rose players suggest would be broken.
Rose buffs are just fluffs to say “we know you want a real reversal, so you’ll get stuff you don’t need at all”
those “buffs” aren’t really what she needed first. She needed some help on her EX spiral.
holding back all day to dodge compared to inputting a command is a whole lot different.

I say we make another thread on capcom-unity. Those knife buffs are shit, not practical at all, and although his front walk speed is decently improved, his backward movement still blows.
My priority was different but now I kinda agree with you guys. What he needs is a better back dash so his gameplay wont change drastically. Either that or make his Zonk a dp motion to actually be more of use (it’s the least used special) and so we can mash it out during block strings as a more reliable GTFOff me move. Or make his walk speed close to Ryu or better so his footsie can actually be strong to justify for his shitty defense.

They’d have to make it hcb + kick, to avoid overlaps with his other moves. With the amount of input leniency and buffer window in this game, you’d never be able to walk forward/backward and do a special. I don’t think there’s any character who’s unlucky enough to have a hcf/hcb and qcf/qcb motion with the same type of button press (punch/kick).
So i guess there wouldn’t be much of a choice but to make that move a shoryuken motion or a reverse SRK motion.
I doubt it’ll happen anyway. they should rather make zonk a better option then tweaking the input. 50% startup frames for instance… ah screw both of them and just gimme that ex cu invin! ಠ_ಠ
I honestly don’t want zonk overlapping with anything. It could be worse. Look at T-hawk with Condor Spire and U2 or Rose with Reflect and U2.
Hell it could be KoF 98 where just trying to do some pressure or walk back and forth and whoops there’s a hcf+f into a super.
I’m REALLY hoping they buff EX Ruffian Kick and EX Criminal Upper (especially EX Criminal Upper). I’m really (REALLY) tired of being smacked out of them both for trying to use them against an attack I knew was coming.
I would rather it stay the way it is, input-wise. I find it far easier to use it just holding down a single button compared to frantically trying to mash “forward>down>forward” or “semi-forward/backward,” which may not even come out when I want it to due to input leniency (do you ever accidentally buffer the first forward motion of a “forward>down>forward” special and, wanting to do a simple “Down>forward” motion special attack, execute the “forward>down>forward” motion special attack instead? I do). (Yes I know I need to be more careful about what I"m pressing.)
the problem isnt the input leniency but that you can do it ON REACTION without charging it beforehand AND losing important utility depending on the button you press.
also, PPP as zonk input and KKK as ex zonk input > all xD
I hated that in kof i was like wtf man! Anyways the only thing he doesn’t have is an srk motion.
zonk as a DP is something I wouldn’t mind if it were to come that route. I’m fine losing a button to hold down zonk. I just want the time to hold down a second.
I’m going to assume you meant “can’t” instead of “can” given what you said before and after that word. I will agree that is a problem, but I feel not as big as what I mentioned. I don’t really have a problem sacrificing access to certain moves for the opportunity to react to a projectile or missed shoryuken (yes, I know there’s a better way to punish them, but zonk knuckle and throws come naturally) expected to come with a zonk knuckle I charged beforehand in preparation. That’s just me, though.

Man, when we first started having this discussion on what Cody changes we want and I had originally proposed to have Zonk knuckles motion changed, everybody crucified the idea. Now after reading the recent developments on this thread, I have this sudden urge in me to yell I TOLD YOU SO!!!
But really, I think its time we make another thread to voice our displeasure. And this time lets ONLY ask for useful buffs.
making it a srk move would make it worse, i can only imagine, srk inputs getting inputed by accident when going for rufian anti air etc, its good the way it is, top level codys have masterd how to charge it and when to charge it, you shouldn’t be relying on that anyway becuase your defense suppose to be top notch, people always trying to “have srk” moves to make up for being horrible, if you want srk moves go play one of the 10 characters that have those invincable srk moves, cody is unique and thats what makes people like him, i dont care if he is best player in the game or mid tier, it is what it is
srk motion != srk move. just sayin.
I also still think zonk is the wrong end to improve cody. backdash, ex cu > zonk in terms of defense.
