Well I went 2-2 at TFC. Little disappointed but I did way better than my first two major showings. Got some signs of improvement. Will post my matches shortly.
LK Ruffian - U1 never worked. I think you are thinking of EX Ruffian. LK doesn’t knock the opponent up very much at all. All this change did was make LK Ruffian work like it did in AE2012.
From the context and few english words used it seems like he is discussing OS throw tech + jump back attack as a way to fight frame traps. If you do a tech with precise timing while holding up back you will either tech a throw or jump back instant attack. He mentions it’s good vs Rufus’s dive kick. It also seems he discusses how it beats Cody’s EX Zonk frame traps.
It does lose to precisely timed lows since you are doing up+back and not crouch blocking so it’s bad vs chars who often start frame traps with a crLK like Sakura or Guy or Cammy. Plus it’s hard to time precisely and if the opponent does NOTHING you open yourself up because you just did a jump back for no reason. Some characters can even punish it like Seth who could U1 it on reaction.
Yea this is true. Though I can only see something like that against Rufus who’s pressure is primarily between divekicks and throws. Still not the “go to” option in that case as you still have the cr.HP/crouch tech OS or simply blocking but don’t want Rufus players running over you for free when they start their pressure.
It’s good vs Cody too. EX Zonk frame count is so long that if he did a zonk and you did a jump back it’s safe. If he did a throw then even EX Ruffian is too slow to reach most characters given the frame count of a throw on whiff. a jab might recover in time for an EX Ruffian but some characters jump arcs might make EX Ruffian whiff and the active frames are relatively low at 7F.
Cody doesn’t really have a good option vs this that doesn’t require a hard read or high risk.
It’s only going to be bad because Ultra is still bad due to not fixing everything. Omega will be fun, but it’s clear the mode itself is a distraction to all the problems going on with ultra.
…At least Cody has a wakeup now? lol. I also wonder if they were nice enough to slip in the FF infinite.
Introductions. They’ve said and SHOWN that what is in these blog posts isn’t ALL of the changes. Cody will get a lot more.
Even if not the true infinite it’d be nice if they let him do like one or two reps. It’d probably be weak as hell due to how damage scaling works so no reason not to.
I don’t mean Omega Cody is going to be so bad, I mean Omega in general. They keep saying it’s going to be fun, but it’s just going to be horribly broken… which will mean exaggerated tiers and very poor character variety. Totally pointless, especially given the current state of Ultra.
it could be a nice stun add on lol. Not much but who knows. Curious to see what knife additions he gets. (Maybe finally focus with the knife? lol)
The game is supposed to be “bad” but in a fun way. It’s just an official Rainbow edition of the game. Not meant to be serious but something to just be jokey with and have silly mindless fun. Sure people will do tiers but in this kind of mode, who really cares?
I know what it’s meant to be, but I’m amazed anyone would want to play it. The tiers may be irrelevant from a competition standpoint, but tiers dictate character choice for a lot of people. Even in AE and Ultra, character choice was/is biased towards the top tier pretty clearly. How much silly mindless fun are you going to have if the majority of people you play against just go for the most broken character. If you’ve got people to play with offline, fair enough, but most people don’t have that.
There are plenty of other games out there that cater for silly mindless fun.
people play what they want. If they don’t want to, no one’s forcing them to. You say you’re amazed at anyone who would want to play it, but the same could be said for anyone still trying to play any old game when new game is relevant.
Not meant for everyone obviously. Tiers or not. People will play who or what they want. If you don’t like it, fine. Doesn’t stop anyone or anything about the game.
