That wont be going away unless Cody got something like Ryu walk speed or better. Cody’s focus kara dash is quite good and it has the added benefit of the human aspect that can’t really be quantified. The dash up makes people flinch in a way that walking up wouldn’t.

Focus moves Cody forward, so it’s kinda like a kara dash if you focus dash forward.

Momochi’s footsies is ridiculous, i really think he has the best footsies in the world. That cr,Mk seems like a wall though, then again this is Diago he is facing. The cr.MK buff seemed to be quite useful too.

Actually I was referring to an actual kara focus dash. Plink HK or MK into your focus to add distance. HK adds slightly more but they are close to the same and MK is easier since it’s part of the input for focus.

So you do a HK - MK+MP - Dash Cancel as soon as possible and you’ll get around ~30% more distance on your dashes over doing a regular dash and about 1.5 small training blocks over just doing a focus dash.

Brady games guide:

Cody forward walk speed = 0.0425 backward = 0.024. They upped his forward by a healthy amount and left backwards completely alone. F+HK did infact get the 1F startup nerf to 15F :frowning:
backdash duration in frames 8 invinc, 6 airborne, 13 recovery (27 total)

Backdash duration increased by 1F maybe.

Was the backdash improved then?

the wrench follow ups seem none existent.

His Forward walkspeed is definitely noticeable.
Spamming cr. mk is the new thing now.

I guess it was too much to hope backdash got anything.

Well it did get a distance increase. It’s now 0.85 instead of 0.75. That makes it slightly farther than Thawk/Gouken/Zangief (0.8) but not as far as Honda. (0.9)

And the supposed 1F increase was at least on an airborne frame. According to SRK wiki and my testing he is 26F in AE2012 but the data is 8F invincible 5F airborne 13F grounded not 8/6/13 as the brady games guide is claiming.

Overall Cody is better than AE2012 but it seems like they practically ignored all feedback. Go look at the old capcom unity thread:

Count how many times these requests came up SPECIFICALLY:

LP Criminal Upper -3F on block
EX Criminal Upper fully invincible
Faster Walk speed (note how often that backwards is specifically mentioned)
better chip on knife normals
special cancelable knife normals
allow throw/focus when holding knife
Faster badstone/fake badstone
Knife pickup changed to Down+KKK
EX Ruffian Projectile invincible sooner

These were the most commonly requested changes. NONE of the changes to the knife were things people requested. NONE. Walk speed everyone wanted both directions OR backwards for the most part.

oops my bad. I meant backwards walkspeed. But even then, backdash “buff” is pretty minor even if it’s better than grapplers and gouken.

and yea I remember posting my bit on the capcom unity thread and seeing many of the same thing yet outside of airborne crack kick, majority of the other things just went unheard.

Cody now has the largest difference both in actual value and percentage wise between his forward and backwards walk speed in the entire game.

0.0425 / 0.024 means that he walks 0.0185 slower backwards than forward. NOBODY in the entire game has a difference between forward and backwards greater than 0.015. Not only that but nobody in the game has a forward walk speed equal to more than 150% their backwards walk speed except Cody who is 177%.

O btw here is Ken/Guy’s new walk speed
Ken was 0.04 forward 0.03 backward now 0.046 forward 0.0345 backward
Guy was 0.045 forward 0.035 backward now 0.0495 forward 0.0385 backward.

It’s cool. They’ll probably fix it by nerfing his forward walkspeed to “Be more in line with his backward walkspeed.”

Is it safe to assume FADC Zonk is completely useless? Can’t juggle anything after it even if it hits =\

Zonk FADC was considered useless as soon as it was announced. People brought it up, Capcom didn’t listen.

It’s safer on FADC forward dash if you used it like an idiot randomly and didn’t get thrown/poked.

Isk but Cody seems noticeably faster when I play him. Then again so do the other characters
