Cody Beginner's Guide

is anyone else having issues with the timing on c.lp to c.mp? it only seems to come out about half the time for me.

Maybe you are doing the c.mp too soon, just delay it a little after the c.lp.

How do you do bad spray?

U+P after being knocked down in a situation where you could tech, so no after a throw, or a c.hk sweep (I think)

Keep practicing the combo motion. Each day start off with just practicing ruffian FADC stop. Then Practice FADC into ultra a bit. Then put it together. After a few days(working onRryu’s FADC) I really noticed I was improving how often I landed it and felt like my joystick moments were more purposeful and under control. After a week I could land it no prob in training. Being able to land in a match often took some more practice.

Also once you get decent at it, you will wanna add in your c.lp, c.lp, c.mp xx hk. ruffian, FADC U1!

Always practice from both sides each day too.

Cody has a lot of good anti-air options. b+mp is a great anti-air, it beats every jump in I’ve seen, just don’t use it for long range. Hk Ruffian kick is great too, it’s just not as universal. It will be used for medium range. Hk ruffian can also combo off of anti-air to a Mk Ruffian kick (which does 236 damage), depending on how far you are from your opponent. From full screen, I use Hp CU. This is the only time you should use CU has an anti-air. It doesn’t do much damage but it’s gets the job done.

Just discovered some weird stuff with his super in training mode. (I haven’t read the whole thread to see if this has been posted or not)

This is all in the corner.

The LK version of his super whiffs on Seth on the final hit and puts you behind him.

The MK version of whiffs after 4 hits on Ryu, Ken, and Rose.

The HK version whiffs on Ibuki on the final hit and puts you behind her.

The HK version whiffs on Dhalsim after 5 hits and puts you behind him.

As far as I tested, nothing else whiffs.

it’s regular rock into U2

it’s regular rock into U2

Been having trouble with this also, but that looks like it might help, thanks!

I’m using Cody as my main, but I’m having some trouble getting his feel down.
I always try to RTSD with every character I use, but people are still running away from me.
How do I get in close without jumping all the time? Where can I find a list of all of his EX move properties?
I’m having trouble fighting turtle Ryu’s who run away all day with hurricanes.

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Just for reference, if you can keep the meter, I say do that as his cr. j, cr. j, cr. s, H. RK into super does 530-ish damage while the same combo but FADC into Ultra 1 instead does only 480.

you sure that this isn’t scaled damage?

just walk  you can walk at someone all day with the threat of random bingo :stuck_out_tongue:

or dash in bingo

rocks, dash in…

or let them try and get to you :o

Is Criminal Upper a good anti-air because I’ve had matches where people jumped over it, or hit me with normals through it?

No, the only time you should use CU as an anti-air is if they are full screen distance away. Other wise use b+mp and HK Ruffian.

That’s nice to know, thanks.

Anti air are :

cr.mk, cr.hk, cr.hp, st.hp, st.hk, ruffian kick hk, back + mp

back + mp and st.hk will do the trick most of the time

I’ve found f.mp, cr.mp, lp. criminal upper to be more reliable than lp, lp, mp, lp criminal upper. Anyone else agree with this?

well its almost always easier to link a weak normal from a stronger normal, imo
so i agree, it probably would be more reliable
