CNC Machined Cases - 2nd Batch Taking orders ( Post #228 Pg 10 for details) 7/16/10

well if sombody really wanted to put a sanwa in there, they could just take a razor edge and shave .5 mm off. not a big deal. Most people use clear seimitsus to label the buttons anyway. It might even be less than that, and might possibly fit the way they are.

wow if you can make a vewlix style with a slight slant case id be all over it

Keep up the great work and the video was really interesting to see. I was also surprised by how much time just one piece (of a full case) takes to make.

Thx Tekneek,

what you saw was only a 2 min clip. that panel alone takes 4min to complete. Once that is done there’s also a 1-2 min human interaction where someone needs to debur all the edges so that it is not sharp.

Sorry, maybe in the future but it doesn;t seem to be too much interest in the slanted cases at the moment.

I don’t really think there is that much preference for sanwa over seimitsu buttons for the 24mm buttons unless someone has serious OCD about having all one brand.

Lol… I would hope so too… but I’m also tryin to be as accomodating as possible.

damn this is looking sweet, i wish i had the extra money.

Looks beautiful, damn shame the buttons are so high though.

I actually like the buttons high. Good space away from the body for lap players and a space for the palm/wrist to rest, and then plenty of room to put pcbs beneath the buttons. Also helps make wiring cleaner by putting all the buttons closer together towards the top.

Beautiful looking cases, almost jizzed in my pants… don’t tell anyone or I’ll call you a slut.

Hey All, Sorry for the lack of update but I’m almost done manfacturing 45 cases.

New Random Pics and also the highly anticipated viewlix version

All pictures unless noted otherwise are work in progress pictures

For those of you interest i also have a 12 min video clip of the manufacturing for just the top panel alone.

Coolio.
Where is video?

Can twelve minutes fit in YouTube?
I don’t think it can.

But if it is there, I’ll just check your YouTube Page.

updated.

what you also don’t see is the time it takes to load the machine w/ the raw plate and the final of checking of tolerance as well as deburring the screw holes.

but you get the idea.

Looks like there is a lot of waste, you can’t get plates closer to the size of the panel?

What do you mean? Are you talking about overall size of the Case itself?

Wow, awesome work on the cases, I figured the process would be much less labor intensive with CNC.

Btw, I just noticed your xbox live gamertag, do you have a carbon black E46 M3 :)? I have a Z4M… love the S54 engine.

Yea that’s what i figured too… boy was I wrong…

And yes I own an M3, unfortunately she’s starting to get old now, it’s an 02 =P

No I was referring to the youtube video, the plates from which the top panels are manufactured.

No nothing that I could do to cut it down even more. The mfg of the top case requires a 2 step process. The first is to complete the inside and the 2nd process is to cut the bevel.

I need to have the material initially that large because I have to be able to get the clamps on the face to hold it down securely. If this isn’t done properly than I risk the possibility of the face plate twisting out of place ruining the machine and tool bits
