Strider looks so fun to use, so fast and just all over the place. Watching clock and floe with 2 striders dancing was crazy.
Im sorry… Im hearing that Ouroborus can’t do chip in this game?
Ummm… Yall realize that orbs didn’t do very good chip in MVC2… right?
I know what yall about to say, “Cee Dizzy you retard. Orbs did phenominal chip herpderp. Cee Dizzy is a scrub/noob/idiot/troll/etc.”
Well, turn on MVC2, go to training mode, pick Strider and any 2 characters. As soon as you can, pause and set the opponent up to “ALL BLOCK”. Then activate Orbs and mash the fuck out of the jab and fierce button until orbs end. During orbs, look at the dummy’s life bar. You would be lucky/godlike to get 5% chip damage with just orbs. Orbs did very little chip damage… Orbs was good because it locked down long enough to do that crazy chip with Doom’s rocks.
Orbs is gonna be better in this game RT. Orbs in this game do alot more damage than it did in MVC2. Plus you can still lock down from full screen (pushblock or not), do crazy mixups that can lead to 100%'s out the ass, you can X-factor it for more damage and faster lockdown, and OH YEAH!!! I FORGOT!! There is this assist called Dark Harmonizer that builds meter like crazy so he can get 3 meters in damn near no time… Strider/Morrigan/Sentinel = Team “That’s unfair”…
Real talk, I’ve never been scared for a character in my life… Please make that super LVL 3…
Thanks for opening this door. I’m all about honoring Clock, but this thread title makes me rage; it’s really that bad.
Even if Robo wanted to change the thread, he couldn’t because the ability to change the thread title has been removed until further notice.
Hahahahaha
I read this, then looked at your avatar. I got the chills.
And Cee Dizzy just reminded me of something: With all this talk of meter building being harder, Morrigan’s Dark Harmonizer assist and Ammy’s Bloom assist seem much more useful, especially with a character like Strider.

so much negativity in this thread :xeye:
Anyway, Cee Dizzy beat me to it. Ouroboros doesn’t really do any significant chip damage in MvC2, and I’d argue that neither does Molecular Shield. I can’t speak for the way others played, but my goal in 2 was never the chip damage. For me it was about the momentum, pressure, and control more than anything. But of course, this is MvC3 and whatever happened in 2 is irrelevant to 3. Holding onto 2 slows down progress in 3, as is demonstrated by my awful Strider play at Comic Con haha ;(
The way I see it, you’re given tools to work with and so you do the best you can. Anything else (like complaining, comparing, arguing, negativity) is just needless interference. From what little I’ve played, I’m convinced Strider has enough tools to win, so I’ll try my best, just like everyone else. It initially seems his game is gonna be much different, but maybe it won’t! Guess we’ll find out soon enough.
Clock
Dark harmoniser/bloom + ouroboros is actually a pretty clever idea.
will strider be a good anchor or will he start the match ?
Depends if you want to use Uroboros or not I guess.
I would rather have someone like Wesker start the match, build meter for Strider, then have him as anchor with Morrigan/Ammy to back him up from there.
Honestly I have 0 desire to learn morrigan or to use bloom in place of cold star. I gotta get the game and hit the lab to figure something else out. I play task so I can get the meter but I burn it with task. I’ll figure something out.
Anyway I don’t give a damn where strider places on the tier list. Never have and never will. I feel “at home” with him and have since mvc1.
Holy fuck Im scared now… Wesker (gun shot)/Strider (whatever continues Weskers combos)/Ammy (Bloom)? Shit that is almost perfect…
Great battery in Wesker with annoying keepaway with gunshot and bloom spam. Hard hitting, long combos with Strider’s assist while using bloom assist constantly. You can probably get like 3 meters in like 10 Mahvel seconds… Strider comes in with Orbs. Start off with teleport + Wesker gun shot. A fucking cross up + unblockable situation. Orbs pressure with Bloom spam. Extending combos with Weskers assist. Strider already got long combos as it is too. Activate Orbs again for shits and giggles and a great anchor in Ammy… TOO UNFAIR!!!
Yo give me this Ultimate crack now… That bitch never coming out of my Xbox lol
I know I won’t be playing Strider but I will mess around will him so I know what his options are, very hyped for Ultimate
Wesker/Ammy/Strider seems freakin’ scary lol. wesker can build meter for strider, tag out so that he becomes anchor and strider’s on point while ammy can stay in 2nd for DHCs and Bloom assist.
Strider/Dog ftw
Strider orbs as level 1 would be broken. Take into consideration
- Runaway is nowhere near as good as it was in MvC2
- No more fully reliable GTFO me assists
- Also w/ assists that hit low and don’t knockdown to setup perfect unblockables
Now imagine dealing w/ 5 consecutive rounds of orbs w/ all that in mind the second someone gets full meter. And what if he’s x factor level 3? While 3 bars “might” be excessive, I know for sure having it as a level 1 would be too scrubby.
I think strider will have to be like phoenix in terms of having to make teams based around him. Like i think that Wesker/Strider/Ammy will be great or Zero/Wesker/Strider will be great cuz u have two great batteries with great assists behind em or if u wanna try to keep it classic(kinda) Wesker/Strider/Doom for the teleport mix ups for both wesker and strider while having a great battery to boot. Any ways whats your opinions on how hes looking and the teams that hes gonna need?
Heads up: Pre-mature theory stuff here…
I think strider will be nice on point actually. You run a risk of him dying without gaining much meter since his health is low but the tradeoff is his mobility and tools will allow you to dominate out the gate if you outplay your opponent (we’ve already seen this w/ floe & he only used magneto’s beam which doesn’t hold the enemy nor have the durability of other attacks) he has a ton of offensive tools and with 2 assists for optimizing his gameplay why not try it?
I’m thinking dante and ironman, Jam session for some screen control and to avoid being put on the defense (used w/ animals and teleports), unibeam for teleport cross ups to maintain offense, and both should probably extend his slide kick otg combos right?
Correct me if wrong but can this work for a “Any situation BnB” that would probably carry to a corner from at least mid screen?
(teleport kick start possible) c.:l::h: :qcf::l: (Ame-no-Murakamo for floor bounce),:h::s:, J.:h::s:, :a2: (unibeam or any lengthy extender), Slidekick for otg, :dp: :l: (gram during beam for knockdown) > Legion DHC into w/e?
W/ faster unibeam time maybe IM can zone a bit w/ jam session help when strider dies and dante’s been weakened, as well as use that lock down for some hi low stuff?
Dante builds meter if strider survives a couple hits before tagged out, maybe we can get some DHC from legion to devil trigger for some kind of teleport hammer crap?
Or switch the order for these 3 since teleport kick might go well with dante’s selection of projectiles and etc?
Completely theory but I don’t think saving 3 meters for orbs (while that will be perfect for bringing the beast on the battlefield aggressively) is the only option, I personally think running a team with 1 designated anchor (probably a beam), strider and another possible point character is nice so you can just switch depending on match-ups.
Strider, Dante, IM
Dante, Strider, IM
Zero, Strider, IM
Ps: I think he would make a decent anchor too if you save X-factor & meter pheonix style (Orbs + Lvl 3 X-factor = Cheapness)
I wasn’t speaking about which Strider was better. You mentioned Orbs being better in MvC1, and I simply just wanted to correct that Orbs in MvC2 due to better animals and teleport actually made it the more powerful and efficient one. The thing that really gives MvC1 Strider the edge is the overall damage, that’s the true kicker right there, however MvC2 Strider had the better utility.
As for Strider being an elite in MvC2, well, currently the way he is, yes, he’s not an elite (As in, not within the same league as the Big-4, however Top-Tier below that class, absolutely). My statement however of how he would’ve been in the Big-4 was a “what if” scenario. Meaning that had MvC2 combined the advantages of both MvC1 Strider and MvC2 Strider, and with the combination of the insane damage on the ground, the excellent teleports and animals would’ve greatly compensated his game, making him far stronger then where he would be placed easily. Hence why I said it wouldn’t of been far fetched to have seen him in the same league as the other Elite MvC2 characters if this was the case.
Again, I was only speaking upon MvC2 Strider having the better Orbs traps, not better overall as a character. MvC1 Strider was better as a solo character, but as for MvC2 Strider was where the Orbs really came into fruition.
Hmm, what team will I try first? Spidey/Strider/Doom? Spidey/Strider/Morrigan? Dante/Strider/Wesker? Spidey/Strider/Wesker? Or maybe one of the new characters? Aaaargh! There are too many characters I want to play!
I honestly wanna see what nemesis and wright are like. nemesis would probably have a rocket launcher assist or some AAA, wright could pretty much have anything at this point. for sure I’m gonna be putting strider on point as it seems even without ouroboros active he can do a lot of damage while building a lot of meter for his lvl 3s.
