I think Strider/Ryu will resemble Wolvie/Akuma but slightly better because unlike Akuma all of Ryu’s assists are use able and being able to buff them will Just be even better. The DHCs will be interesting because Legion can be like Hail Storm where you can DHC extremely early and still get max damage. Legion into Shinkku Hadoken seems like its gonna be powerful and Shunkuu Tatsu into Ragnorok or Orb will be mighty dangerous.
I think it’s a little bit early for some of the things you guys been saying… I been running Zero for a while and he honestly feels like the most broken character sometimes with those hitboxes. His nerf was slight, in that it shortened his combo opportunities, but he still lands hits crazy and I feel like I’m cheap sometimes using him (it gets that bad).
IMO strider looks very unique, and if people are sleeping on Zero now (who was underplayed in the first place) there are going to be crazy surprises when the characters above him got nerfed harder.
I personally think Strider has too many options to be played in one way, or with one kind of assist. He won’t have a best friend forever like wolvie, or a dedicated position (akuma = anchor, Pheonix = Anchor, Wolvie = Point, etc).
- There will be people who give him Pheonix (Ouroboros) treatment
- There will be people more confident/risky running him on point w/ cross up assists
- There will be people comboing into Ragnorok for kills
- There will be people using Legion DHC’s w/ little care for his lvl 3’s
- Low/high assists for ouroboros unblockables
- beam/lockdown assists for cross ups
- maybe even gtfo (if they show up) assists for metal animal zoning
- His assist looks very good too, I haven’t seen his assist punished yet…
Who knows what this guy can do, so instead of already restricting him to one style this early, lets speak on all the possibilities…

ya, i’ve been thinking about the possibilities of Strider/Ryu/Sentinel. It sounds actually solid because tatsu assist can catch people off guard to set up combo’s and then we have drones for lockdown. An additional thing is that you have two guys at back who can actually be used as comeback characters. Smart Sentinel players are very deadly, and they know how to wrack up damage, plus the new buffed up ryu. I’m actually considering this due to how well rounded it sounds.
That team does sound great but since Im not a sent player I will switch him out for Ammy or Zero. Tatsu is sounding real good for Strider now.

I think many people are forgetting how great Trish is @ locking down your opponent and now that her traps are faster she can really help Strider’s mix up game especially with Doom’s help
I think that team sound pretty good cuz Strider with Doom assist will be gdlk with his teleport mix ups and Trish can lock your opponent down with Round harvest and help Strider catch the opponent when they try to run away from his rushdown and both Trish and Doom could help strider with a zoning game if the player so desires.
People getting a bit afraid of that 700-750k. LOL. I always say the lower health a character has the cheaper they are and it’s pretty much always true as long as their offense and mix up is strong. Strider is going to make people throw their sticks but at least he’ll actually require some work. I already get mad enough at Zero’s invincible ass normals so I’m sure I’ll almost be cool with Zero by the time I get hit by some stupid bullshit from Strider for the first time.
People are saying Strider/Dante/[Person], but why not the other way around? With two desirable level 3s Strider will consume meter like fuck, so starting with a Dante as a battery then TACing/DHCing into Strider seems like it’d be more effective. I guess you have assists to consider but even then it’ll still probably be viable if Strider’s assists are decent.
EDIT: Since I was ninja’d by Jin, might as well bring up another point: do we have any ACTUAL solid health value for Strider? Considering the Gravity Squeeze Nearly killed him, I was thinking 650k was his health. Even then that just balances him out, since he looks like he has the tools for total domination.
Again, Strider no longer need orbs, even without using meter I am sure he can kill anyone with just his normals and buffed specials. So IMHO he looks better as a battery than a meter user. In addition, Strider looks like a lackluster character to DHC into outside of his Ragnarok so I doubt he is suitable in the middle.
If you’re talking about the same gravity squeeze i think you’re talking about i remember it was an XF1 enhanced gravity squeeze. Either way it did hella damage and definitely made it look like he was on some 700k or lower shit.
Strider can handle on point and with out orbs. His air dashes are invincible, and he can block/combo after that (according to Floe). His animals and fireball are insanely fast, and all his specials do ground/wall bounce. His ragnarok actually beats out every close range level 3 (i don’t know about Magneto’s or ghost riders), but i know it has invincibility or armored frames because i saw him running while having drones hit him. It took about 2-3 drones to cancel it.
Tigers do OTG, his teleport kick does OTG, his fireball does OTG, his legion does OTG, his gram does otg/wall bounce, and his ama whatever (lets just call amakakeru-ryu-nohirameki) does otg. There is so many things this guy has offensively.
He is capcom’s Phoenix.
