Claw's 2013 wishlist

The good thing of this topic is that I know who I should blame when CAPCOM goes “Vega players felt like there was no need to buff him. So I guess he is fine and thats it.” and Vega didn’t get a single Top 3 in Majors since Vanilla afaik. Even with really GREAT players using Claw.

@EternalBlaze: Actually, by lower body I mean legs, and legs are what need to be invencible on ST. And fuck people. I am not asking for I frames to Reversal when I am pressured, but to use as an AA! That was the whole point of only having invul frames when the active frames begin. Think first, ffs,

Increasing advantage on hit of the crLP is just too dangerous. He would indeed be broken. But being +1 when your jab starts in 4 frames is nothing. +2 for ACTUAL frame traps and make people stop being able to mash 3framers and trade evenly when we were suppose to pressure them.

Also, less heigh restriction on Air Grab would be cool.

Vega is designed to have a huge weakness, because he has really great strengths.
This character is certainly able to get good placings, but he needs to be played more flawless then alot of the other characters.
Because if the player screws up with vega, he is instantly in much trouble. More then a typical character in this game.

This character and the way he is designed, i think walks a fine line… he is pretty good now and a few buffs could make him awesome, a few nerfs can make him horrible.

So im actually pretty scared of a possible 2013 version were they nerf a vega tool in trade for something shitty as a buff, wich could let vega be worse.

I’ve started learning Akuma, Cammy, Fei, and Guile in anticipation of vega nerfs derp.

I think Vega needs fly cancels and an 8-way airdash. Without it, he’s pretty much unusable.

EX Scarlett Terror can and will beat lows provided it isn’t a 3 frame crouch move

EX-ST can beat crouched kicks provided they’re not hitting from the first frame. But it won’t beat most crouched punch, and certainly not mid or higher attacks.

There is something right about what Haztlan said. I do remember Jozhear saying Vega was top tier. And then he felt so bad that top tier crap that he wanted to counterpick half of the cast. And some said he even retired.

What are you afraid of ? Do you think a shitty 1 frame link non chainable jab, which can be grabbed or jabbed on block is OP ? Do you think non invincible non FADC-able reversal is OP ? What about no B’nB leading to comboable ultra, OP as well ? What about close sHK being nerfed just to ensure it wouldn’t be a suitable aa ? What about a reversal who can’t be used as a reversal ? What about 1 frame link FADC combos, whereas other character can score a crumple out of it ? Does he have semi-infinites combos ? Is max +2 on block that OP compared to the +3/+4 a lot of chars have ? Where is the safe on block, comboable overhead ? Where is the safe, almost instant level two focus ? Where is our cross-up jump in ? Where is the overpower which allowed so many Claw players to win majors ? Are you all serious ? Do you all feel satisfied with Claw performance in majors ?

We have lot of good players here, and by playing such an underdog character a lot of us must have become used to outsmart our opponents. The problem is, once we face opponents just as smart, and just as good, then character possibilities take all their dimension.

I understand each character must have weaknesses, but even Dan is not as imbalanced as Claw. Every char (ultras put aside), has at least one EX reversal with at least partial body invincibility, or invincibility to physical attacks, or good against jump-ins. Even el fuerte, and even Dhalsim. We have mad unsafe flips which can’t even be reversed ! I’ll understand our jabs/short being not chainable, and with so poor frame advantage… but then are our far attacks comparable to others characters close ones ?

Why is it that we have to design frame perfect setups just to be able to cross-up, or to jump in on someone ?

I’m not asking for a cross-up, nor DP FADC into ultra, nor comboable overhead, not chainable jab, nor decent frame advantage at close range, nor anything like that. But just something which would allow claw being cornered not being the end of the match, and something to make claw FADC game worth it. Is that too much to ask ?

Anyway, regardless of our differents wishes, I would be nice if someone whitch a capcom unity forum account transmitted them to Capcom. At least to let them know. =)

It’s not an unsolvable problem either. You have to keep MP (and LP if you’re plinking) pushed while you’re activating FBA, and to release them before you get on the wall. It’s annoying, but Claw is not the character who has the most problems with negative edge. =)

You forgot about giving him a teleport dive kick. Only then will he be useable.

That’s actually a good idea. Vega’s snake tattoo can come to life again giving him a full screen raging demon. If your opponent survives, he/she will be poisoned from the snake bite for the rest for the round and lose 50 health per second.

I believe vega is mid tier in ae2012 and the limit for a major placement is top 8, much similar like most of the other mid tiers (except for extremely few exceptions that confirm the rule). Without an invincible get of me move its virtually impossible to win a top level major.

He He…this time i will skip the whole perverse scheme that as a Vega player i had to endure so many times…the “getting hyped and then receive a low blow by capcom scheme”…the changes made to 2012 edition where dissapointing to say the least (i don’t know to this day what the heck they changed about his focus attack)…i think he was pretty well balanced char in XTekken and they nerfed him there as well…my prediccion…the update will happen…Vega will receive a couple of minor adjustmentes that won’t mean anything…(so Ex SHC got its downward hitbox extended…Yay…it still wiff on Chun Li)…i think Capcom just like Vega the way he is…

Agreed. Or at least partially invincible move, as we saw a Gen and a Gief win some grand finals. =)

But even if that would be awesome, I do not have much illusions on that. However, KKK flip not being reversable is pure BS. Just making it reversable would rather be a bugfix. Some of my friends suggested that flips could be FADC… but I don’t see it happening either. :slight_smile:

It’s true EX SHC still doesn’t fully connect in 2012. ^^

But for Focus, it has a bit more of range which helps, just beyond cMP’s one. And CH +1 blockstun was good as well. =)

Scarlet Terror

 - Decrease the startup of mk scarket terror to 4 frames. It currently has little to no place. It doesn't have the juggle properties of light scarlet terror (with both hits anyway), and is not as good in regards to damage and speed as heavy or ex. I would normally comment on the angle (which is the most useful aspect of it), but since scarlet terror is a very sensitive anti-air it is a mostly moot point.

Im 100% sure if there were a 2013 AE and Capcom gave a really good Buffed Vega, anybody who mains Vega would not be angry with a top tier Vega.

They don’t care about the opinions of anyone outside of Japan concerning this game. Since they decided the derpy changes of the last game on the location tests and the players there giving feedback.

Precisely what the dude after me said. Vega is FAR more popular than a character like Elf. I have only lost to literally one Elf player in my time playing this game because he was the only one out of the maybe 5 I’ve played since 2009 that actually utilized his shit instead of going "BODY SPLASH DERP"
Yeah, I can count on my fingers how many Elfs I’ve played since VANILLA.
The player with the better fundamentals will always win. Unless it’s online, but we’re talking off.
Matchups in which you are hazy but they are not like 7-3, can be solved pretty much by being strong fundamentally.

The negative edge problem doesn’t affect me much but I guess it would be good to remove it. Realistically, can they even remove negative edge from a single special move? I mean it is in the entire game so…?

There is actually parts of Vega that I feel are pretty strong despite having drawbacks to his character. Seems like nobody mentions the good points as much as the bad points but I guess that’s the point of this thread; to receive buffs for our character whilst hoping others get nerfs.
Gotta agree with Francys… Capcom are undoubtedly going to test everything in Japan and not really listen to international players.

P.s. can we have st.lp, st.mp, cl.lp, cl.mp and cl.lk that are actually good? I feel like I use the same buttons all the time with Vega and sometimes it gets repetitive despite winning.
