Skeez says he might be down today and/or tomorrow. I’ll be going with him if he goes today. Maybe other people too.
(but I should be down for wednesday as well.) Zach, I think it’s wednesday this week only if I understand correctly.

It is definately depending on Mike’s schedule what day NT’s go down. The main reason why we are doing Wednesday this week is because Mike has to work tonight and tomorrow.
D+4 is meh, I should be blocking low or crushing it with a random hop kick honestly.

What’s up everyone!?
What’s kind of crazy is that I wound up switching one of the manager’s today, so I worked this morning & he’s working my night shift. However, I won’t be playing anyway since I have 2 go 2 work anyway for my End of the Month Inventory, so I’ll be toiling away @ actual work instead of working on BR. :shake:
Brandon: Damn dude! Why does it seem like w/e u post, u r always throwing some type of shit my way? It’s all good I guess. First, in case u were wondering, I was not using d&4 against Phil, I was using d/b&3 w/ Alisa a lot. It’s a really good move. Secondly, u don’t have 2 spam lows all day 2 be some type of elite player.
Skeez said it best that when u use ur lows, ur making ur opponent want 2 duck more, in essence, ur “training” them 2 duck low so that u can set them up 4 eating ur mids (which in most case, it’ll be launchers), where u can get ur real damage in against ur opponent’s life-bar. Besides, it’s not like lows are godly or anything. U can low-parry them or even better as Skeez said, u can crush it w/ a Hop-kick.
Is using quick lows a very good strategy or tactic? I’m not gonna lie, I think it’s a great tool in ur arsenal of moves 2 help u win. Just like throws, lows are put in2 the game 2 break down ur opponent’s defenses. If they weren’t in the game, then all the game would be is blocking & hoping to counter-hit.
I definately think it’s a very good strategy 2 use quick lows b/c it does exactly that…it breaks down ur opponent’s defense. A lot of good players do use this strategy. If u look @ a lot of Korean matches (henceforth us calling d&4 a Korean Kick), they’ll use this as a strategy or tactic 2 do exactly what I said above in the past paragraph…to set their opponent’s up for good mids & mid-launchers.
I don’t know about u, but in order 2 get better in a game, I watch or rather benchmark great players in that game, see what they’re doing, & incorporate that in2 ur own game or ur own style of play 2 make u a better player in that game. Phil does it, I do it, etc. etc. By learning what good strategies are & learning how 2 incorporate them in2 how u play, that in turn makes u a better player.
I don’t know if u noticed this or not Brandon, but when Phil was playing me w/ Zaffy, he was using the hell out of a lot of lows too in order 2 break down my defense, as u can see by him using b&1&2 against me a lot, & even doing a decent amount of FC d/f&4. Guess what? It was working & I can bet that I ate most of his b&1&2s he was unleashing. Is it agitating? I’m not gonna lie, it is @ times, but u know what, it’s part of the game…just like my d/b&3 is. It was my own fault I didn’t block his b&1&2s. Same w/ Phil not blocking my d/b&3s. I can’t blame him for using what’s good & vice versa, so why make a fuss about lows.
I think all it does is make us work on getting around them, in essence making our reaction time better, which in turn leads us 2 becoming better players. That’s what I want 2 become (a better player). I know that what Phil & all of us are trying 2 do that play the game is become better players in it. What about u Brandon?
I’ll hit everyone up on Wednesday as usual. Take it easy & have a good one. Peace. :china:
Damn bran-muffin. He shitted all over your scrubby statement.
I agree with sluch though, lows are a part of the game. You gotta utilize them and learn to deal with them. I’ve started using more lows and I find myself winning a little more often, especially with miguel since I abuse the shit out of lows with him.
As much as I complain when I lose, I NEVER complain about the mechanics of the game because I know what I’m getting into. I just complain about my own lack of skill in said game.

MAME machine with 4 controls and sound system. $150. Looks like it needs a CRT (cheap) and a tower good enough to run MAME(they dont mention if it’s in). Only problem, is I can’t tell if it has 6 buttons or 4 from the pics.
Phil, have you been using simply move lists or actual frame data? There is frame data here if you need it.
Matt: Right now I have been translating the Japanese move list with some help from TZ. Basically depending on the character I will throw in what gives you plus or is safe. No exact frame data has been added tho.
EDIT: I have started adding frame data to newer move list and revising older ones. Thanks man.

I’m a helper.
Since only a couple of us actually post on TZ, and LOC has a couple thoughts, I have transfered his post there to here.
'Not sure if I’ll be making it out tomorrow for the 2vs2 tournament but I will really try to be there. Definitely call me tomorrow afternoon.
Also, can we start putting like two or three bucks into a pot? It would be a small, but extra incentive for folks to play their best. I know we’re there to have fun, but I think that goes without saying. The main goal in a tournament is display of skill. Putting things on the line is effective. Also, is it possible to start the tourney a little earlier? If it’s just not possible, that’s one thing, but please don’t straggle over to Gameworks if you can help it, people.
Kam, can you bring my bag/sunglasses from Indy? Please and thank you.
In any case, i can’t wait to play everyone again.’
pP
Thanks for posting that over here Drago.
Hello folks, this is LOC. I see everyone posts here and talks only of tekken…
Isn’t that what the TZ boards are for? You rule-breakers!!!
Anyways, Hello Kam. Don’t forget my bag, please:wgrin:
I will reiterate my suggestion that we throw in some money for these events. I don’t drive 90 minutes for shits and grins. I do it because I have the FIRE. I want to be GREAT!!! WE as a REGION can be great. I want another national standing in this new installment of tekken, the same way I clinched several in Tekken 5. To that end, I believe we can squeak out the most realistic, high-level play if we start putting a LITTLE something on the line.
I’m not asking for twenty, ten, or even FIVE bucks. Just two or three…
And if you win, it sure comes in handy for gas and games. Consider it an investment in OUR future. I won’t beat my drum any longer on this. See everyone tomorrow night if I can manage it. Later!!! :woot:
What’s up everyone!?
Nice suggesstion on dropping a few bucks for the Team Tourney Dwayne. I personally wouldn’t care about a couple dollars, but I’m not 2 sure if anyone else would want 2 do that or not…b/c everyone is poor. To me, I’m down w/ either or (few dollars or no dollars for the tourney), but I do agree that it gives the extra incentive 2 play ur best, so I’d definately be all 4 the idea.
Catchya guys 2maro when I call everyone up & see everyone @ the GW.
Take it easy & have a good one. Peace. :china:
I want to play as much as possible, however, work tends to kill me throughout the week. Barely made it out monday because of work. I’m glad I did though as it was fun playing and blowing off steam.
If I cant even get $2 from those I take up there (im so fucking generous) you will be hard pressed for any money at all. Dayton is apprently full of broke mutha fuckas  YEA THATS RIGHT, IM CALLIN YOU PRICKS OUT ON GAS MONEY!
Anyways, I know I shouldve gone to indy sat, but I was fucking exhausted. Im sorry I didnt go, I couldve done well in BR
.
Hope to see a good amount of people wednesday.
those who have paid me gas money need not take offense to anything said above.
Gas is still expsenive though…
Shit just got word from a little birdy, that Gamestop will have preorders for TE Sticks “Round 2” as in new art, and tweaks, different colors, etc. Keep an eye out. Not even announced yet. Heard something about a black with monochrome art, might be cool.
LOL Skeez, yep we are cheap cunts inside and outside of games.
Also just letting people know, thanks to Matt, I have been revising my move lists with frame data (specifically on block/ plus frames). It’s a hella of an undertaking but I have already updated Bob, Zafina, Jin and Julia with frame data with more to come.
If you have already brought a move list from me and now want frame data, I can forward you the updated move list to emails… yes EMAILS, I am not printing anymore cause these lists are long and paper like everything else is expensive.
Subsequently move lists are now $1.50 a pop cause of extra content.
BTW if you are getting pwned and want to know a character’s frames, it would be worthwhile to invest in their frame data, just saying.

Yeah, as a bad player, I personally am against putting up money for a tournament. I always try my best in Tekken at least, because I have something to prove. Maybe if you’re good at the game you become complacent and stop trying. I don’t know. I understand wanting to win some gas money back from a 90 minute drive, but can’t you just get people to go with you and tell them to give you money? Also, if Sluch wins, well, it’s not like it cost him anything 2 drive 2 gameworks. But I’ve never seen LOC play before. Maybe he’s that much better than everyone else and will win for sure. If that’s the case, why not just take up a donation for him to drive down?
Anyway, I know there’s a lot of people playing that are either new to Tekken, or don’t consider themselves very good that have been showing up regularly. Last MNT I went to, which was a few weeks ago, Phil and Mike pretty much ran the whole thing, only losing a few to other players, and every other time I’ve seen Mike play, he has pretty much dominated, even with characters he doesn’t consider himself good with. Also, Skeez tells me LOC came down one time and dominated everybody, so I’m not too confident in my ability to even place in this thing, depending on who I get teamed up with, but maybe since everybody’s not pro, and some of us are just trying to get a feel for the game, we should exclude the nubz and only let the serious competitive players play tomorrow. I mean if we’re trying to maximize the improvements we make with what play time we have, it’d be nice not to have to waste time on scrubs like me right?
LOC, please don’t take this post personally, but if we do have an entry fee for this, it will feel a lot more like a donation than an investment that we can win back to about half or more of us attending. If it comes to that, I’ll probably donate to enter, but it wouldn’t really feel right to me, because I don’t believe that playing your best takes extra incentive if you’re really passionate about it. Paying to enter would be endorsing an idea I don’t agree with. I’d honestly feel much better spotting you a couple bucks for making the trip down. At least I’d know I’m helping someone.
Also, ranbats in Japan were never about money. They had like a 100 yen entry fee, but the winner just got like a bag of snacks or something. Just a cheap prize, but they still manage to get pretty decent over there.
tl,dr: I don’t like it, but if it’s what everyone wants to do, fine.
Cincinnati:
Would any of you be interested in going to a gamenight at Arcade Legends on Thursday night? We can get in as long as we have 10 people for $4 each. Whoever is going to SB4 needs to get their practice on and i’d like to do it in an area that has more than 2 setups (arcadelegends can have like 7 for us, and I can bring one more setup if necessary).
I think we should take advantage of this good deal while we can and support the arcade at the same time.
I refuse to think of this as a donation. It’s a prize for being the best. You play to get better (hopefully) with thoughts of being the best. Everyone starts as a bad player, takes their lumps, and works their way to the top. Stick with it and follow us. You can be great, but there is sacrifice.
Oh, and one reason the Japanese don’t pay out to winners of these tournament is because they are all locals.
I do not want to give up money to play in a tournament where we know who the winner will be. Definitely not when I don’t know much about the game and my purpose of going to these meets is to get better and learn the game mechanics… I’m not going to learn much by losing 2 and out while watching people play. I can watch videos at home of better players if I wanted to go that route.
Japanese don’t win money for ranbats because they are for fun.
Zach, I’d be down for heading to AL this Thursday and any that you guys go to in the next few weeks. I need to jump back into SFIV and level up that scrubby Abel of mine to at least competent status.
And to talk it up about the money at tourneys. While two to three doesn’t sound like a big deal at all to someone who could likely take the pot, it does seem a bit like tossing money away to some of us who would come in even with our A game and still get wrecked. I’m not saying give up and go home, but money while it works as a motivator for some works as a demotivator for others and you might not get the same turnouts you’ve been getting at GW for _NT.
Unfortunately it’s a no go for me for AL thursday. I got Lab that night. I havent been to that arcade in MONTHS. I been on that school grind and I gotta stay focused.
LLGD! We’ll get some good ol practice in sometime man. I beat that Batman so I can take my time on exploring in it now. I’m trying to level up with Bison aka Dictator.
Well, if that’s the best you can do, then everyone except you that’s going to be there tonight is local too.
