This up coming Saturday (the 31st) I have absolutely nothing going on at the arcade. If you guys want to have two game nights this week, I’ll give you all the same $4 deal on Saturday as well. We could run some low dollar tournaments or some free ones for small prizes. We could all chip in and get some pizzas delivered for dinner. Dominos still has $6 mediums.
I had an idea for a free tournament that I think would be fun. Match one is played on SSFIV, match two is on T6 and the tiebreaker is on a game nobody (or very few) people play. I haven’t decided on that third game but I am open to suggestions. Something like SVC Chaos, Cyberbots, Waku Waku 7, Galaxy Fight, etc. Would you guys play this? I could round up some fun prizes
There gonna be a decent number of people there this thursday? I’m thinkin about comin up to check out the new Location and get some games in with everyone.
And I think thats a pretty awesome tourney Idea Jesse. I’d definitely be in on something like that… but thats because I rule at Mystery game shit.
do you mean zach marquette and maybe quentin would play too and temmy and maybe ralphus so im def down if we can get enough. ill be at all the ranbat weeks
ill be there thursday but im not sure about sat yet ill try tho. i have a tournament idea for super. how about themed matches. what i mean is before every fight you and the person pick a theme at random and both ppl have to play within that theme. possible theme ideas: shotos only, black guys, ladies only, alpha, 3s, and super tubro characters only, characters with headbands, charge characters. those are just a few of many ideas. so basically every match you will have a different restriction on who you can play. but i dunno how much ppl will be comfortable not being able to play their main every match. just an idea
I will definitely play TvC if it was a ranbat game.
My problem with playing TvC is that I don’t have a Wii. I made an attempt to emulate it a while back but was unsuccessful…i’ve since upgraded to a new video card so I may give that another shot.
I don’t really learn a lot when I play it a few times every couple of weeks, so if I could training mode at least i’ll be more up for playing.
It really isn’t hard to get into, but training mode does get your muscle memory going for those magic series combos (practice against Viewtiful Joe too though since you have to alter them a bit). You wanted to play Casshan right? Unfortunately he doesn’t combo well without Roll or Frank (at least according to Keits), but Ryu is always a good option lol. I’m more than happy to bring my set up next time, provided there are enough sticks so we can get 2 stations going.
Seriously I want more people to play, I have plenty of fun playing Keith/Nathan/Kam/Kris but I’ve been hit by too many Soki standing A’s and too many Polimar resets.
I played Casshan and Ryu when I started to learn the game, which was the friday of PowerUp weekend. I don’t really remember much, but Ryu assist does alright for him; I remember being able to start a bnb, combo into denku, then assist and use b dog (the bite one), and restart the combo, and then launch into air combo then ground super. This is a very technical description.
I’m real bad at doing it in matches and tekkaman blade just makes me angry
tekkaman blade is one of the harder characters to defend against but almost everything he whiffs can be punished…even crouching a. and seeing as how blocking is the hardest thing to do in that game thats what takes the most time to learn. a lot of characters have really really good high/low games and some have good front/back games.
Well, i’ll work on that emulation thing when I get a chance. I have so much stuff to do this week that I probably won’t get a chance to mess around with it. I’ll see everyone on thursday though.
