Cincinnati OH, Dayton OH, and Northern Kentucky: I have the best Wesker!

Hey I may host games at my place, but really the only possible day is Friday, which I’m not quite sure people can make, just get back to me. Also, bring TV’s.

You’re about a week late, sexy pants.

Also, this is the hitbox on Bison’s U2, pretty huge, much bigger than I thought, no homo.

Don’t beat yourself…all you need to do is compose yourself a bit. Your blocking looks great (you even rolled out of a lot burn kick cross-ups…which is very nice), but you just ate a lot DPs…which only put you into guess situations. That’s where you got nervous. Take a step back, be ready to capitalize, and change your game on the fly. He could tell all you wanted was to land was the command grab, it’s the root to your offense.

…anyone want to help out here?

::EDIT::

In general, I think all of us need to learn how to take control of the match. I suffer from this problem as well at tournaments…our confidence tends to drop and we choose not to show off. I think that needs to stop.

I watched the vids a couple times, and it seems like you just weren’t getting into Wolfkrone’s head. It’s extremely hard to be the outsider looking in, but it seems like you weren’t making Wolfkrone fear anything. You would let him jump around, then see if he wanted to mix up on the ground so you could make a Tornado Throw setup, but Wolfkrone was just a step ahead every time.

I really think you kept your composure, actually. You just weren’t sure how to punish Viper. A lot of trades in the air led to some bad guesses that Wolfkrone capitalized on. Props to your blocking though in the second match. That’s the reason I think you kept a cool head; you were learning how to defend against the Viper rushdown, but couldn’t establish ways to get in until it was too late. Don’t let it get to you. Study that match without bias and see where improvements can be made.

I wonder if I can find the couple of matches I played on Seb’s stream . . . And that awful TvC match I had against Empty Shiki on the main stream x_x

LOL Osirun you weren’t the only one EmptyShiki embarrassed on stream :wgrin:

Any critiques on my play are welcome as well, I can already tell where I failed vs. that Chun, much of it stemming from my corner game. I really do need to stop and think about my positioning relating to the corner and how to keep my opponent stuck there. Often I’ll just get too close in an attempt to SK pressure, and many times people do jump, in any direction, after about 2-3.

Also, I fail at links.

So who’s goin to AL on thursday? I don’t want to go and then no one shows up for real. I’m tryin to get some “high level” game sessions in. And I’m not talkin about skill levels.

I’ll be there but you won’t be getting any “high level” competition from me. I’m talking about both levels!

Adam your really good at getting people cornered. Seems you just had the problem of keeping him there and baiting him out. It’s ok though , we have a chun player here now and I’m not talking about me.

Zach , Simple enough you got scared and did not want to play the risk/reward game. I have seen you do better and know you can do better.

-You can Jab her out of burn kicks
As well as other things. ( Not sure if burn kick has been nerfed or changed or anything)

Also you did good rolling away from burn kicks… just a little too late in the match.

Confidence is very important in all aspects of life, especially competition. One of the main reasons I suffer in tournament play is I get down on my confidence for not thinking I’ve trained enough or if I’m playing someone I think is better than me. That kind of thinking is what earns a loss. It really does make a difference to remain confident in one’s abilities during a match.

I’m not really upset about the loss to Wolfkrone, I know what I did wrong and it felt like I couldn’t punish anything he did. The few opportunities I DID have to punish…I messed up. I TT’ed him and on his wakeup, I rolled in to meaty c.fp and it just didn’t come out. I don’t know if my timing was too early or what, but I just stood there and got thrown.

I will be playing him again at PowerUp and I will have a better gameplan.

However I am upset about my general play that weekend. I mean there’s a bunch of factors that could be why I don’t play as well as I normally do, but I think the key one is that i’m playing against people I don’t know. I’m going to work on my execution and punishing vs. each char and do more matchup research.

I’m also going to try not eating before the tournament, and going to play casuals to get warmed up for my first match and hope it’s not wolfkrone next time. Actually, I hope it is.

Thanks for the advice/support guys.

Well not eating anything is usually a bad idea, maybe just not eat too much? There’s a big difference between a healthy portion of food and “food coma” lol.

I mean, I don’t know what your pre-tourney meals look like, I’m just saying if you go without anything your blood sugar will drop and you probably will get the averse affect than the one you want.

We actually had a mini-discussion on the drive back about pre-tourney rituals and such. I think Actionhank said he didn’t like to eat anything immediately, or a couple hours, before a match. I was called up to a match WHILE eating, but it didn’t seem to bother my concentration or anything. I think the only thing I do to prepare is take a deep breath, honestly. I’ll run by fingers across the buttons too, but lots of people do that.

One thing I’m gonna try to continue to do when possible though, is exercise in a hotel’s weight room. I woke up early-ish over MWC weekend and was able to lift some weights and get on the elliptical and treadmill a bit. I don’t know if it helped my energy level, but I know I felt more relaxed when I sat down to play. No jitters : )

@ ailerus

It looks like you played fine. You didn’t get hit by mindless burnkicks, and blocked fine. You could have played a tiny bit faster. Taking vipers mixup all day is not fun, so getting on the offensive will help alot.

As a Viper player we are taught that abels AA game is weak(idk about ssf4) so we are told to abuse J.rh and burnkicks. Remember, burnkicks are NOT armor breakers so you can focus it. This is better for Abel since his FAlvl1(tap and let go) is +0 on block. Idk That means if you see/predict a burnkick coming you can focus, see if she is infront or behind you, and release the FA/backdash(forward?). If you got the FA off that means Viper is no longer pressuring. Which is a win in your book. Time to get in that ASS!

Also I don’t recommend not eating anything lol. Any Event I have ever done well in i have eaten something. Even if it is a biscuit with jelly, it helps not having your brain think about your stomach. Especially in events that take a while, and you have to be on point mentally. Any Yugioh/magic player will tell you that staying more focused than who you are playing can win you games on its own. Every little action counts. Same for fighting games.

Thanks for the info. A lot of people say Abel’s AA game is weak, but it may just be weak against c.viper since burn kicks will probably trade with every option he has. I’ll do some testing vs. that tonight. He’s got some good AAs vs. pretty much everyone but they’re all mostly situational (close st.fp, st.fp from far out, st.lp, st.mp from midrange, c.mk)

You and Walker gonna be there on thursday? We should get some games in.

Me, The Green Gecko and the Soul Crusher should be there. Been a minute since we played anything and in the quiet moments we can discuss why Claire deserves to live over Kate in Lost.

Reason 1) Claire’s a Aussie.

pP

I eat breakfast before every tourney, but I don’t eat for the rest of the day typically, maybe something really small like a drink and some crackers. Eating a big hefty meal I think does more harm than good. Also Powering Up, just throwing that out there lol.

lol… you know your right. You do play better and you much more relaxed when your powered up. Obviously.

Walker and I will be up there and ready to play. Al is too good to miss!

Chun is one of my mains and they say it was 4-6 viper because chun had nothing but situational antiairs that had little reward compared to getting smacked by a BK. Now she atleast has df.lk. That move is gdlk. Captain falcon approves!

Really tho I think matchup information and execution should be a huge part of your game! Keep that shit on point and remember how, when, and where to punish. you would be surprised how having little nuggets of great info can turn the tide of the matchup. I recently learned chun can U2 after a blcked EX messiah kick and beat all his options :x. Stuff like that is important.

@ Actionhank

Thats pretty much how I feel. You dont need to be rolling around on a full tank of gas to survive, but trying to drive with it on empty will only end bad lol.
