Man I actually found this out already and I wanted to be the one to tell you. But even as is, I find this to be incredibly satisfying and entertaining. It’s about time we got this. I may get it but I don’t even really like games like this. I can bet it’ll look a lot better so I’m looking forward to that. Man…if we get Gears in some form there will be literally NO REASON to have a 360. Like when the PS2 finally got RE4 you could hear hundreds of thousands of Gamecube controllers instantly drop.

it’s the ebb and flow of the games industry. there will always be villains and then there will always be companies that rise up and end up becoming the villains in the end. won’t end here.
Actually I like what EA has been doing lately. I’ve hated their guts for years over that NFL fiasco, but stuff like the Skate series, Dead Space Army of Two, and supporting projects like Shank, EA is really been on their P’s and Q’s in recent memory.
Also I don’t care anything about console supremacy I just like seeing the veins in Diego’s head pop out.
The “magic” of Mass Effect is going to be killed. PS3 getting it is just a symptom. I don’t care that the PS3 gets the game, I care about what it means. We get Mass Effect 3 to round out the original trilogy, then after that, EA will gouge year after year of half-baked spin-off, and probably yet shittier versions for the DS, Wii, PS2, and iPhone. iMass Effect, anybody? There is absolutely no way EA would let ME go after 3 games.
EA is the main villain. Funny, Adam mentions Activision, and they are a very close number 2. It’s funny that one of the few good deeds by EA was releasing Skate, which was awesome, and made Activision kill the relentless Tony Hawk games. But then Skate gets a new game every year since, and the 3rd one is not an improvement to the second. But Acti still has CoD and shitty Marvel movie based games to milk.
I’ll give you Dead Space, but ugh at Army of Two…there wasn’t anything special there, felt like a generic shooter that compounded frustration when you didn’t have a friend to play it with. Seriously the AI in that game is totally braindead and because your partner HAS to be alive at certain sections it can be extra rage inducing. Skate is meh, after Tony Hawk 2 I think that genre of games tailed off. The controls are interesting, but I can only watch some dude do 50/50’s for so long.
Put it this way, as long as EA continues to shit out Madden games, they will always be considered the enemy.

I can’t think of one conceivable scenario where this would be true in any sort of way. Aside from it being released on PSN as a choose your own adventure book. It’ll be just as good, and probably better since there has been tons of time to tweak graphics and get rid of bugs in the original. Plus there is going to be original content for this version. Also, Diego, your first post about it shows that you care quite a bit don’t front lol.
Also, Madden is hella good this year, jus sayin.
I know EA is villainous and everything…but if i could get a bunch of people to buy the same game every year with minimal updates every year i’d do it. I would try and use the money gained from that to try to fund the games I want to be successful though…like a robin hood stealing from the dumb (sup brandon, how’s madden 11 :D)
PS3 getting Mass Effect isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things. It’s very late for the ps3 users, and doesn’t really affect the “magic” or the “charm” of the knights of the old repub–Mass Effect games.
Successful franchises always go downhill quality-wise. Look at all the Star Wars spinoffs and bad games (not that there was any real good star wars games besides the KOTOR series and Star Wars arcade) that exist…hell, the later movies are all terrible.
They remain successful because people have vain hopes that the series’ next entry will be good, and purchase it anyway.
A pretty good example of this is Left 4 Dead. People were upset about L4D2 just being a re-hash of the original with not enough new content to justify it being a full retail purchase (which is pretty true). There was a steam group created, dedicating itself to boycotting left 4 dead 2. What happened on release day? I know I saw some screenshots of the group’s memberlist on Steam seeing what they were doing, and a vast majority of the people online were playing l4d2. How dumb is that?
Yeah I remember the L4D boycott, it also stemmed from producers claiming there would be a bunch of DLC for L4D1 only to throw that into 2, which yes I agree is just a rehash (another series I never got into, mainly because its FPS…noticing a pattern here?). I’m all for cross-platform games though, I wish they’d release Demon Souls and White Knight Chronicles for 360, I’d like to try them before I commit to a PS3 down the road.
Also, the Star Wars games I thought got progressively better, with the SNES games being pretty fun, and then tack on Shadows of the Empire for the N64 you had a pretty good run of games there. Galaxies sucked though.
If you like sports games, cool, I would hate to keep buying the same franchise over and over with minimal tweaks though. Maybe every 5 years would do your wallet (and brain) justice.
