I’m not quitting because of Derrick, I haven’t played him in anything in almost a month. I’m quitting because I suck and I’m not getting any better so I figure, why waste my time? Every week I go to the arcade, get smashed on by the good people and get mad all while not improving in the slightest. So fuck it.

imo, i think you get frustrated too easily when shit doesn’t go your way in a match, and your gameplan just unravels. i don’t think you should give up, but i can’t stop you if you do.
First of all, you’re supposed to be playing games to have fun.
Second, if you have people that can beat you consistently, that means you have people that have a lot to teach you. Getting mad over losing to someone way better than you is scrub central. If you don’t know how to or are even trying to learn then you probably should quit then. You definitely need much more mental discipline to ever get competitive at anything, not just games.
Third, start playing other games and take a break from whatever you’re flipping out over

Kris you are my boy but I think you should really reconsider quitting man. You are very good ,I definitely think you got alot better. Not to mention CONSTANTLY get better. Hell you were doing the damn thing with cammy homie.
I would just play games to have fun with them in our scene. If this were LA or NYC or something, you’d have a valid reason to play competitively. The only thing you can really do is travel to get better, but I know you have work which can interfere. Just say fuck it and play what you like, we won’t get offended if you show up to AL with Madden, although I’m sure H8N D8N will be happy to rip on you, myself included.

I see where Krono is coming from, as it’s partially the reason why I never got into fighters as seriously as most of my friends did. In Guilty Gear, I could hang with some good players, but I always had a problem with executions (specifically FRC timing) and it became more and more apparent as time went on. Eventually, I just couldn’t keep up anymore and the game stopped being fun.
Some players need to be able to compete in order to enjoy themselves (like me), and when you can’t do that, the game becomes a chore to play.
