CIA Surveillance: C.Viper Video Thread

Much epic fail then some success tourney wise, cross posted from the primary thread

Justin.tv - iplaywinner - Starbase Arcade: Mortal Kombat - ~9PM PST

My friend Ric0 ( Part 2 0:25:40 ) bodied me during the first bit where he touched Viper and she died, but we play a lot and he knows how important that was,

did better against K-beast ( Part 2 1:22:40 )

Had close near fail matches against PiKie (Part 3 0:01:15 ) No real Viper in there >.< just Task clutch after getting bodied by nerves. XD

(Part 4 0:36:26) Winners finals, me versus HonzoGonzo, some of his other matches showed how good he is better, I actually have some moments of not ass Viper play in here. She gets in and murders some characters. Honzo has a great zoning team but Viper + Task gets in for free.

(Part 4 0:54:30) Grand finals me versus Fillipino Champ, the most epic choke ever against Dormammu but Viper obviously putting in work for this set. Best Viper matches are match 2, 3, match 5, and of the second set the final match is the most powerful choke ever OCV start into fail.

after watching matches my Viper was one of the only times Ryan used gauge as not Phoenix. XD

If I hadnā€™t dropped the viper combo it would have been a perfect finish but when I did Ryan was beyond clutch and destroyed my whole team, it was a great set and hopefully Iā€™ll be repping the Viper better at Hadocon.

He plays the only character in the game thatā€™s better than Viper. XD

crossover counter into haggar also works

Hard luck in the finals chrisis. What was your strat going into Phoenix? Seemed like sometimes you were snapping her and sometimes you werenā€™t. Also are you still learning to seismo cancel consistantly or were you just choosing not to do them in your matches often? Just interested in your thought process around that stuff.

I donā€™t rely on it since Iā€™m not stable with it, execution is my worst thing as a player and this whole concept of combos that I donā€™t drop often is new to me. I donā€™t have training mode/a console to practice execution so although I can up my game by thinking more I donā€™t have the chance to get down some execution related things Iā€™d prefer that will just take me some time. Against Phoenix the decision of whether to snap or not is based on damage, gauge and momentum. If I have the chance to kill the other 2 characters without giving Phoenix 4 bars I go for it as then she has no chance to hard tag away and is forced to fight, if I donā€™t think I have that 2 character catch or something similar I go for the snap to bring her in.

i think you should always snap phoenix inā€¦worst case is, she hard tags out, you block high ad get a free kill on the char that was tagged inā€¦then repeat againā€¦plus with viper and ammy, it makes killing her on the snap in much easier

Wow dude, much respect for doing well with Viper, while not even owning training mode at home, hahaha.

Against Champā€™s Phoenix itā€™s not easy to kill her off snap in, itā€™s doable but her hitbox is very good for making the unblockable set up hard, and as stated I have execution errors, the thing is with Viper it is very possible to kill off his 2 other characters before they hit 4 gauges then Phoenix is dead and not a threat. Though in the majority of cases I agree snapping her in is the right thing to do which is why I normally do go for snaps.

Speaking of which played F-champ in winnerā€™s semi-finals at this yearā€™s hadocon yesterday and choked again --; I ended up taking fifth anyways, but I had massive execution errors during the tourney such as 6Cx3 nothing from the dog not even assist call, no tag no snap no assist. :frowning: Or 2B, 2C, 236B nothing when going for my death combo which is not hard. I just had serious controls/failing issues.

And since I talked about my shitty execution earlier hereā€™s some of it in action explaining that Viperball thing I brought up earlier with some video. A friend I play against at sessions brought stuff over and we recorded a few matches that havenā€™t gone up yet, but he also was courteous enough to let me show the Viper ball stuff in a video! Note this is the second time Iā€™ve been able to go into training mode with it thus the mass of errors, but thatā€™s all good, sorry for the slow spots in the video! Good shit Chrisis! You just upgraded everyoneā€™s C. Viper with new technology. Iā€™ll try to get this technique down asap. I was using BK/TK feints in comboā€™s/resets, but I never thought of using them like this. This stuff looks ridiculous, haha.

Keep up the good work.

Alrightā€¦so that shit looks too good. Iā€™m picking Viper up.

good stuff getting a vid for everyone who didnā€™t understand your post so they could actually have a visual of it
no worries about the execution of it, itā€™s pretty tricky, I remember someone, it might have been you who was wondering about
being able to do another feint if you still carry that momentum did you find that out or no?

Kind of, you can do it but the timing for when to do it is really weird and you lose part of the momentum if you do it wrong is what it feels like. Another really scary thing you can do with it is go straight from Viper ball into her ambiguous death mix up Point blank air dash down. When Viper does point blank air dash down she can hit with a high, low, or throw all at roughly the same time and itā€™s completely ambiguous as to which sheā€™s doing. ADD light and ADD light canceled by land light look incredibly similar, and ADD light canceled by land throw is just as hard to see. To go into the ambiguous death mix up from viper ball you:

BKF cancel the heavy hit imediate air dash down itā€™s skeezy because if you time it right you can also ambiguous left right with it but thatā€™s even harder, so from that you get a fast 5 way mix up that you can set up off of seismo. XD

I was using Viper Mags Sent

Singles

Took second at Starbase again, footage soon to come from the stream. Climbed through Honzo, Crizzle, Haunts and others to lose to F-champ twice. >.<

Ughā€¦So choked at the loss in teams you had that if you did a different combo.

In general you could have significantly increased your damage output if you opted to do a different combo instead of the box dash loop. I find the damage scaling on the box dash loop too high so I opt to do the below combo.

(c.L), c.M, c.H xx M TK xx S TK, super jump up back, air dash down, j.H, land, s.H, L Seismo, IADF, j.H, j.S, land, s.H, S, sj.H, dj.H, j.S, land, This is where your options become dependent on your team.

For your team you can do this:
land, call Magneto Disruptor Assist, OTG L Seismo, jump cancel Focus Attack, dash cancel, S, sj.H, dj.H, j.S, land, OTG L Seismo xx Burst Time, DHC Magnetic Tempest.

Alternatively, if Magneto is dead then instead of using the assist to relaunch you can do OTG S Seismo, super jump cancel, air dash down forward, j.S, land, S, etcā€¦

The reason I prefer to do S TK combo besides damage output is because itā€™s more consistent and after a relaunch is guaranteed to put the opponent in the corner because of how far S TK drags them. The only character specific alterations that I know you have to make with S TK is Shuma Gorath because he doesnā€™t crumple and you phase through him after it hits and Iron Man because he doesnā€™t get launched high enough with the SJ, air dash down j.H, so the L Seismo will always whiff.

Since I have Amaterasu as well I tag on extra damage at the end which pushes my damage output before a DHC to roughly 948,000 damage and after the DHC I get 1.1 Mil damage to kill Wesker. Iā€™ve seen MarlinPie from midscreen do land, dash twice, Mag assist, OTG L Seismo, IADF, j.H, j.S, etcā€¦ but I havenā€™t figured out the timing.

At the end when you tagged Dark Phoenix if you used S TK you would have for sure killed her.

I didnā€™t see you during your zoning game cancel the Seismoā€™s into Seismo chains or a jump cancel. Even if it whiffs Iā€™d rather cancel the Seismo into something because the recovery on a raw Seismo is so bad and punishable at the right ranges even at full screen itā€™s better to recover quickly and regain momentum.

Hell yea DevilJin is on the C. Viper bandwagon. Canā€™t wait to see what you come up with.

dang that phoenixā€¦
you should of kept it simple when you hit her LMHS MMH dj H delay S tkM xx super. like the hulk combo.
Good stuff!

I would like to see a good ass technical viper play Mag/Modok/Viper at a tourney. Those characters seem like the most technical, and precise characters in the game. Especially after seeing Desk latest combowith Viper, and the japanese Modok player+the new Anal cube combos. I searched on YT to see if anybody even played this team I havent found one result lol. Request.

On the list of most technical you donā€™t have Dante? o.o Dante and Viper seem by far like they have the most amazing tools if you can actually do them consistently.

I play dante since day one and he is by far one of the most technical and execution heavy characters imo. Mags has one difficult loop, but once you have it down, he is not that hard to play. Dante however is more like viper, you have to utilize his ton of tools at the right time and using bold cancels and stuff all over the place to stay safe and not getting punished and lose your low life. But also just like viper, heā€™s fun as hell and the payoff for learning him is huge. I love this character.

Btw viper+dante definetely gets an award for the most stylish team! ^^

I want to say itā€™s Dante then Viper then possibly Modok. I wouldnā€™t say Modok is execution heavy but he has a giant learning curve for the most outrageous normals known in this game and you have to be creative to understand and figure out his combo ability.
