CIA Surveillance: C.Viper Video Thread

7 man RR tourney out in Concord, CA. Had two of my matches on stream then the Finals - we had a three way tie for first, so we ran a 3 man RR and I wound up getting second. I definitely made some mistakes, but I would appreciate some feedback / critique of my play. I played Wesker/Viper/Strider.

i have a random question im not sure where should i be asking this so im sorry if this is not the right placeā€¦ when im in training room practicing any combo my inputs are just too messy and i play on a stick with a square gate so i was wondering if my inpunts could became cleaner with an octagonal gateā€¦ or is it just me that im bad at inputs ?

An octagonal gate will make your inputs more sloppy, no less.

To be honest it doesnā€™t matter what your inputs look like. The key to execution is whether or not you can get the move or technique you want to every time you want to do it. If you do that with sloppy as hell DP inputs, it doesnā€™t really matter, just so long as you got the move you wanted.

i just cant get rapid seismos and i think with an octagate it would be easier to execute or it isnt?

It will be harder. Not only is an octagonal gate inferior, but your also more used to a square gate than you realize. Just keep practicing, itā€™s not easy, and there is no shortcut. Also, keep in mind that Rapid Seismos are not hugely important, so you donā€™t need to sweat it that much.

ok tyvm for your helpā€¦ the method i been told to use is this one:

62369 atk xx 369 atk xx 369 atk

but i always get a thunder knuckle dunno why what method do you use?

That one. The trick is to never let the stick return to neutral. So itā€™s more like 62369atk632369atk63269ats63269atk

why is the 2nd seismo notation diferent than the last 2?

This is a little difficult to explain, but it actually isnā€™t. Whatā€™s happening isā€¦ umā€¦ (like I said, hard to explain), your kind of combining the input for the jump cancel and the Seismo in an order that makes the input more manageable. Basically your taking advantage of how the game reads inputs. Doing it in that order is just so much more manageable than doing 623A>6239A>6239A

Check out 1:04:08 of part 8 for my match against OMGItzAndreā€¦ Spoiler: I ruin his 33 game winstreak

I choke in my next match, lots of dropped combos than I come back on at 1:27:30 for a 5 game streak

Good stuff. I liked how you used focus o give you time to react to the teleports. (and people think Viper isnā€™t S tier).

My only advice, when you have Strider in XF3, you BnB should be ~~~>S>jC>j623A>-/>214S>214S>S>jC>623C>-/>214S>214S>S>etcā€¦ Basically just repeat until they die, you should be able to get about 1~1.2 million meterless, which is great cause it gives you more meter for Uro or Ragnarock.

I <3 Strider so much. People have been saying that heā€™s scarier than my Viperā€¦

Yeah, i love Viperā€™s focus attack. Outside of unblockables, it basically nullifies beam/teleport mix-ups which is among the best tools to have in this game along with ex seismo and lvl 3 buster cancel (2 out of 3 not bad)

Been playing strider on point for the past few days, so many OCVs  he is ridiculous, resets, mix-ups and did I mention resets? He is a blast to play and when Iā€™m playing him correctly, everything he does is safe and near impossible to block. I wish I had a video recorder so I can share some of my setups but oh wellā€¦

My favorite setups involve using the weirdness of his jC to create really ambiguous crossups. Thanks to his 5C anf FormB itā€™s really easy to force someone to block an assist, at which point a teleport or dash puts you in perfect position for at least 2 50/50ā€™s.

There was a cool vid in the strider thread about using the tiger for oki that I havenā€™t really got to try out yet.

Also, Iā€™m very impressed that you could do all that in lag, I felt soggy just watching the video.

http://www.twitch.tv/arcadeufo/b/306488427 part 2 starts at 1 hour and 23 minutes.

Here is about an hour footage of video of me playing at UFO. Viper/Strider/Task. Been thinking about changing the team around, but yeah.

I had played about 40-60 games before I jumped on stream and I feel like at that point I wasnā€™t thinking smart enough and became a bit automated. I didnā€™t think that while I was at the arcade but after watching the footage I was definitely in automation mode. As the commentator says I probably would suck when I jumped on stream. Its true lol. At least I didnā€™t play to my liking as I did off stream.

UFO has the ps3 version setup (I run 360 version at home) and I could definitely feel the slight delay. It screwed me up in a lot of situations. You will notice I was doing a lot of random j.M and j.H from like half/full screen and thats due to me wanting to do either a dash and pressing it too early on this version or doing a ISJF burning kick. I did it A LOT. Shows that at that point I wasnā€™t trying to adjust to the slight delay and was focusing more on just on the guy in front of me. It was frustrating. My seismo game wasnā€™t to par and I wanted so desperately to try out FADC seismoā€™s but due to the like 1 frame or 2 frame difference I was not confident in my execution. Anyways enough with excuses and on to horrible play.

Iā€™ll hopefully be there next Tuesday if you guys want to see more Viper play. I need to level up my Strider and my taskmaster was just so bad. I resorted to my old Taskmaster play which Iā€™m not too proud of with a bunch of shield skills and webswing heavy arrows. I didnā€™t watch all the recorded games but I believe my matches went better as I went on. I think I had 2 perfects. The first one surprised me like it was a slap in the face lol. I donā€™t ever look for getting perfects.

If you see this Fubarduck thanks for putting on the Tuesday marvel event. I rarely get out there because I work at about 4AM every morning, but these Tuesday entry fee free play events are too awesome to pass up. I will deal with the tiredness when I get to work Wednesday.

great Viper play man, I love stealing your tech;) I gotta practice that BK feint reset and the side switch you do

I know you like Task arrows assist but I donā€™t think heā€™s the best anchor choice, lets play some matches next time your online

Fully joined the Dark side, now running Viper/Zero/Strider: http://www.twitch.tv/srklive/b/306679600

Tourney starts at 1:05:30, if requested will mark times of matches later.

I will be making a darkside team soon. Zero/Vergil/XXX?

i couldnt stand the commentary but damn good shit with your viper.looks like i gotta practice my burnkick feints thats the only thing i cant do with her. whats the frame data with her burn kicks? i always thought it wasnt safe so i only use it in combos i see you throw it out meaty sometimes good stuff

I was trying meaty stuff a lot with assists to keep me safe. But half the time I was messing up the input. The BK air heavy version on superjump is 17 frames start-up. Which is generally pretty fast. Its really the reason I have Arrows for Taskmaster, but I also have them to extend ground series and do resets. I didnā€™t do them often because i wasnā€™t thinking of them but theyā€™re there for those who are greedy with you meter like I am.

Part 1 of a 100 game set between me and my main sparring partner. Playing Wesker/Viper/Strider, always looking for feedback / criticism. I dry EX TK too much =(
