CIA Surveillance: C.Viper Video Thread

Yeah… we don’t have control over that. :frowning: otherwise I’d keep up with it. Obviously there was some irony with the thread starter and his name.

create a new one with a better name and call it version 2.0

At this Starbase Ranbat I beat F-champ! Unfortunately not with Viper but with my team ‘Chrisis needs to press less buttons’ team. K-beast won the tournament with his godlike Viper and footage should be up soon.

Can’t wait to see KBeast. I haven’t seen him play in a while.

Spoiler

Dark Viper Rises!~

What do you think of KBeast’s choice of playing Viper in the 3rd spot on his team?

I prefer her with assists, but depending on the enemy team I think both techniques are viable, if they don’t have Trish/Zero I’m firmly in support of it!

Zero as a character is excellent and can do well with just about any team. And as stated his lvl 3 is great. Goes full screen and is very fast. I personally love to smell assist and or lvl 3 buster xfactor genmu and will usually kill either both or kill assist and heavily damage the point character. And yea he dies basically in one Magneto BnB. I’m trying to get into Viper she’s so much fun. I will post match videos later. But team order. I would go Viper Zero Dante but opinion should viper be a point character or not? Forgive me for ranting lol.

it actually depends, I like Viper as first since she’s pretty meter independant, she can build and use the meter. if she happens to die you have 2 really good characters left that have one of the best synergy in the game, Id say they are the true “Best friends”.

I see there’s some mention of why I put Viper 3rd. To be honest, it’s more of a safety mechanism as I really want Viper to live, but I personally like more matchups as Dante against most players point characters. I also don’t have as much room for execution error using him on point. Viper is the better character, but I bank her for Dark Viper.

I really wish I could play her on point all the time, I really do, but it also relies on my ability to block the opponents attacks who starts the game off with 2 assists, so I can’t make any early mistakes. Viper is secretly the best character in the game, so if the opponent tags me, what’s gonna stop them from popping their Xfactor wolverine like everyone else does? Then I’m left with two other characters that most everyone should already have much experience with.

Besides that, Viper isn’t really a strong assist character, (I’m looking at you, NeoG!) just mainly for combo filler. So during my neutral game, if it happens to be my birthday that day, I’m most likely not losing Viper. Even if my characters die one-by-one, that leaves me with all the meter in the world to burn for Ex! (I know I burn them a lot, but I can’t help it, it’s so fun AND safe lol)

Viper IS a really strong point character, I can strongly agree on that, and I don’t discourage anyone from using her on point. But when the opponent has long-ass damaging combos, and DHC trick, I don’t want Viper dying without being able to do damage.

So, the logic is, Viper is a really good character, so it would be a shame to have her die to the opening clusterfuck, or get hit randomly by the opponent at full power with both assists?

That is an interesting way to look at it, but aren’t you just trading all of that for getting Viper killed by whatever setup the opponent has planned when she does eventually come in?

True, I understand what you mean. But I honestly don’t have too much of a problem getting viper in since she has a double jump and/or bk feints. Sure I don’t guarantee her safety getting in to everybodys setups but its better than say magneto, who has an airdash you have to commit to with no blocking.

K-beast, your signature is godlike. XD Are you making it to Starbase tonight? GOD MARVEL!

Your strat would probably work better for me if I didn’t have Iron Man in the second slot. Those DHC’s are crap-tacular.

Could you talk a bit about why you don’t have trouble getting Viper in safely? I’m not disagreeing, I’m just curious and want to hear your way of thinking.

God Marvel! Thank you sir, someone posted that back in the day regarding the TvC Norcal vs. Socal 5v5, and I found it pretty hilarious. Trying to show up to starbase…

Well it’s pretty simple. My most common way of reacting to my character coming in is moving up-back if possible, and by that I mean if I have air-dash, or in this case a double jump. Characters that don’t have these options (Cap, Chris) fall victim to a free mixup and are at the mercy of the opponent.

But anyways, let’s take either Phoenix or Mags, they both have airdashes. If they are coming in and I want to do such said movement, I’m not able to block because of the AD animation, obviously leaving me vulnerable to the opponent jump attacking me. Jumping hit>drill-claw>dive-kick…wolvie kills!

With Dante or Viper, they have the convenience of having a double jump, so i can come in, press and hold up-back. Now if I see the opponent try to jump in (possibly trying to grab me) I’ll react to tech when I see them close in. With Viper in particular, i press:h:+:s: cuz her special attack has a better vertical hitbox. And if I feel they catch on and try a different approach, I can mixup my landing using BK feints + airdash. But all this information is useless if you’re playing GOD MAHVELLL!!!

I think Flocker’s Zero performance at Seasons Beatings Velocity pretty much nullifies the points you make here. True he does need an assist to get greater mixup possibilities, thus Flocker’s use of Tron in this role.

As far as buster shots go Flocker was pretty much playing run away Zero in nearly every match. There should have been a counter on the screen to show how many level 3 buster shots he let loose because he was downright covering the screen with those things + Tron fire.

Flocker was actually using exactly the combo Chris mentions here. I can’t recall many times he used any other combo. He especially made good use of Lv1 hyper XFC Lv3 hyper to end matches at the end of that combo. Much of the time he didn’t even need to keep all of his meters for Phoenix to turn Dark.

Sry to further derail the Viper thread.

It’s not off topic if it’s directly responding to a previous post. Also excellently written!

At Dromstruction my team got second in team tournament, and I made top 8 in singles, I’ll post up some links when they become available.

K-beast blew things up hard with Viper as well, doing not quite so hot in teams, but when he didn’t need to rely on anyone else destroying and making it all the wayup to top 3 singles!

Viper’s a broken biatch.

I played her at this week’s Thursday Night Throwdowns streamed by Finest KO and took the whole thing. Ricky Ortiz sent me to losers at the beginning since he’s godlike and I choke against him, but I ended up crawling out of losers to fight F-champ in grand finals, first his Dorm team then his Phoenix team. I actually hit my 100% unblockable set up timing against his Phoenix twice where her only option is phoenix inferno or hope I don’t confirm into jam session correctly.

Good stuff dude. Congrats.

OMG that ending versus Dark Phoenix!
