looking for some critique for my basic ass chun li. Tried being fair uploading both wins and losses
I analyzed them myself, but a second opinion and suggestions is welcomed
Against gief if he whiffs a st. FP or a Lariat that is a free st. RH. Whiffed air SPD’s, sweeps blocked or whiffed, etc need to be punished harder with at least cr. MK->Legs but try to get super or SBK when you do. Make sure you get those. Work on charging your kikokens a bit more since it seems like you aren’t super solid on it. You keep walking backwards when trying to do it. Just charge d/b or whiff a st. jab if you want to stand still for just a moment, a couple matches you walked yourself to the corner.
If you have super you can throw out a lot of st. FP and super in response to him doing an armor parry pretty easily.
Overall solid but with the gief matchup a few zoning optimizations and you let him get the corner to easily then you’d get caught. You have to stand your ground and until gief gets v-trigger he really can’t do SHIT to stop you if you just mix up kikokens properly.
Work in more st. RH in general. If they are spamming st. FP slow it down and whiff punish. Treat it like a quicker better fireball as Gief has to work around it and any option he has to beat it like st. FP, Lariat or sweep has to be done pre-emptively giving a super easy whiff punish. Also it keeps him at a range FP and MP kikoken are really strong and opens up b. HP and st. RH anti-air options. That matchup is terrible for Gief. He needs a big v-trigger combo or a lucky CC sweep imo to even stand a chance.
Thanks I actually played the last match before the first zangief match so I adapted more. Bison and Dhalsim give me trouble (did a little lab work with Bison today to see what he was doing and checked out his frames)
@JuliusCage watched one vs gief and bison, make sure you’re paying attention to anti airs, u let the bison especially jump on you too much. you’re pressure is decently diverse, but remember space control is about more than pressing buttons. Also, check bisons devil reverse with cr mp, mixing up your defensive options helps to confuse the opponents offense.
