I really was going to start helping all Chun players that post videos of themselves as much as I can. But dude, it looks like you’re not even trying.
Mash jab every single time? Not uploading decent matches against real players?
Like man…I really wanna refrain myself from being an asshole…but this is too funny to pass up, so here goes.
Bro, that mash jab makes me wish that madcatz had no turbo on their equipment so you’d have to work harder. I literally don’t think you’re mashing that hard every time, just no way you’re putting that much effort into mashing and not learning. Yo…those EX legs make your flowchart complete. I see you got the whole d/f+roundhouse thing going on there, good stuff on that. Man…you remind me of the Chuns I decimate online and make them go to Rog to mash jabs with that character instead. It’s niggas like you who make Chun look like an easy and shitty character at the same time. Yooo…boutta get spicy with my jokes up in this piece…those air throws…lol. Looking like mortal kombat Scorpion up in this piece with that random jump throw after the mash jabs lololol. Now that I think of it, you use kikoken like scorp uses spear in MK games. Man…these flowcharts kill me.
ok I’m done lol.
edit: For those who are wondering why I just don’t give these people advice. The answer is, when people play like THIS GUY, the answer is EVERYTHING. Gotta step up those fundamentals, learn what a poke is, learn what the basics of zoning are…hell, even the definition. Learn what mind games are, what a mix up is. It’s just that when I see a flowchart Chun, it really puts me to shame more than anything else…really. Not even exaggerating or joking.
Ok, I can see you enjoyed them like some kind of sitcom, but you can’t expect me to completely master SF in 3 months
Even if you don’t want to give me advice, can you set me in the right direction? Like some references I can read that explain stuff I am missing, or videos to watch. I don’t plan on going pro, cause it seems to make players grumpy.
And I am not changing to Rog or anyone else no matter how bad I do or what you think, because games are for fun and I had fun playing and recording the videos.
Why would you mash jab and then sweep as Rog is jumping over you?
Stop wasting meter on non hit confirmed Ex Legs
Dash out of FA during crumple to make sure the full Ultra lands
Stop using sweep as a poke.
Against that Honda that destroyed you in 10 seconds with scrub tactics:
Wow… you seriously let this scrub do this to Chun
Absorb Splashes and punish Headbutts with Ultra. I also saw 3 missed opportunities for you to combo into your Ultra
In that mirror match:
You use hk HSU and sweep way too much. Use st.mp and st.hp as pokes instead
You never combo into your Ultra, even though Ive seen perfect opportunities and right situations in which to do it
That Chun was even worse than you
Against Gen:
You need to work on blocking cross ups
You need to not mash out Ex Legs when he is nearly full screen from you
That Ex Legs towards the end of Round 3, you could have combo’d Ultra into it and won the match
I understand where MM is coming from. You dont need tips for playing as Chun, you need tips for playing the game. Everything you do is mashed out or random. You basically got lucky pretty much all the time or faced people as bad as you are. For christ’s sake you got hit by 4 full screen fierce Headbutts in a row. The fuck?
You need to learn how to read and adapt to your opponent instead of trying a bunch of random shit and hoping it works. That’s why after I posted my vids here and got a response like that from MM, I went and did my homework. I praticed my footsies and FA game, I practiced what to punish and what to let go, and most of all I practiced being able to constantly adapt and keep my Chun alive and winning
I edited the post you quoted, check what I wrote as it is important
For other things to use on wake up, there is kikoken, j.lk cross up, jump back RH,as well as others. Also close headstomp into j.lk cross up is good as well
yo, there is a whole list of ish you can do already on this board on wake up, go look at Dime X’s compendium and chun li strategy and matchups
on wake up, I make sure I get a feel of what my opponent likes to do, if he is uber aggressive I know EX SBK might be a good option, if he is defensive, perhaps just blocking and then moving/ poking is a good idea
what I do depends a lot on how the match is going, who is in the lead, how close I am to the corner or how close he is ect.
Hey DrSevenK sorry about my earlier post man. I was just bored and talked shit for no reason, so I owe you that apology. :china:
I realize not everyone is going to EVO, not trying to win everything and all that.
The best advice I can give you for now is to look at other good Chuns and see what you’re doing differently. The littlest movements have reasoning, just try and find the meanings to them.
drsevenk - i don’t like those videos, all i gotta say is that you should look for better competition. and what’s been said already has been said. you need to get to the next level and find better people.
also i couldn’t tell how good you are, you do a lot of random things sometimes but it might be because of lag.
Hey drukthar, I’ve seen some of your better replays, you should definitely upload some better matches to keep the megalomaniacs in their gilded castles.
I had some videos of mine, but they were crappy too, I’m still slowly getting better, and plan to record some of my replays and matches once I find a better way to record.
Casual player witch-hunts are getting more common round this here parts. Relax people.
Magman, I dunno if apology is needed. It’s because of those comments that’ll push players harder. At some point early in SFIV that could have been my chun.
Videos always help, and playing with folks more skilled than me is what keeps me inproving. And realize DrSeven that trying out a new gameplay plan is going to be tough. You’ll lose plenty of matches trying to get a feel for a new approach to your game. That’s were I’m at now.
Actually I’m glad he apologized. Some of the stuff he was saying was completely unecessary for someone who merely was asking for tips on how to improve his game. There’s being constructive, then there’s just being plain rude, which appears to be what Mega realized he was before apologizing.
But you need to understand that not just in this forum, but other character forums people post videos like these where its not so much that they are bad with that match up or character, but they are just bad at the game.
Thanks for that. I wasn’t sure if the date was written the Japanese way or the American way. I guess it makes sense that it was written the Japanese way considering their source.
I’m not getting your point. Because a person is bad at the game that gives someone the right to be rude to them? From my understanding SF4 has attracted many casuals and first time players to fighting games, so of course they’re not always going to be good. Some of them who post these videos might not even know they’re bad. That’s why, as I said before, you can offer constructive criticism. I see no reason why one whould have to be rude and make comments like “That’s why you give insert character here a bad name because of the way you play.”
That kind of stuff is counterproductive in my mind and comes off very elitist. Just be firm in your advice to help people improve or just say nothing at all if you can’t do it in a way that doesn’t come off as rude. I kinda feel strong about this cause I know people who don’t want to come to shoryuken because of the perceived attitude they have about it.
