What? No…
I time it to make reversals go the other way against chars with srks. With that timing, they can just walk back and make you whiff, focus out of it, cr. jab, or jump straight up. Meaty timing would be ok against someone who doesn’t have a wake up that’s invincible on start up, but that’s not a lot.
I’m not sure if I’m being whoosed… but df+hk isn’t very good
Yeah, my bad. df+hk sucks and my wakeup pressure sucks lol!
i noticed right after landing chun’s ultra you can safely df+hk and any reversal they try will miss (at least in a corner.) i think that’s the kind of df+hk reversal samma’s talking about…i just did it to the two sagat’s i played in a row and it gave me the win when we both had low health.
SF4 is very forgiving when it comes to auto tracking and turning your character around to DP the other way as a crossup passes over you. For that reason alone I would be careful about using df+hk. Then when it’s blocked it doesn’t give you any benefit at all and you’re in the same situation you would have been had you done nothing and jsut gone for the mixup from the front.
It’s nice that against people that spam dp’s without any sense of timing they will whiff or get hit in the back, BUT had you blocked you could have punished that DP/reversal much harder. There are plenty of players that don’t know how to deal with it, so yea, maybe it IS good, just not against everyone and certainly not top players. (which is exactly what Samma said in the first place XD)
3 1 3 1+ button for DPs O.S., there goes your meaty df+HK.

I’m no asking why pros don’t use xhns easy mode crossup. I’m wondering why they don’t apply any pressure at all ok wakeup. Watch those vids. Those other chars pressure the piss out of chin when she is on her back but the chin players just to to the other side of the screen & wait for them to get up.

Got lucky on him missing that AA ultra. Hardly jumped after I saw that.
Good shit. I’d do some things differently…
You let him do his aerobic BS too much. When you kikoken, look for the jump throw, or in a few cases you could have dash ultra’d his devil’s reverse. The way I do dash ultra to punish air movement is walking back to avoid the stomp and punishing it, and then if I see him reverse I dash ultra.
Also, when you throw him or get a knock down, I usually jump in with double fierce/single/empty/throw/low short mix ups. When he teleports, it’s easy to walk and punish it. d/f+roundhouse is ok like you did a few times, but only when they stop doing the regular stuff to try and get away.
Personally, I’m a fan of back dashing out of scissor kick mix ups mid screen to try and reset position. I don’t like risking mix ups after scissor kicks on block, he can EX PC if you press buttons, st.roundhouse if you jump in any way, and scissor kick again if you keep blocking.
You did really good though, solid Chun.
My reaction was to Samma and MagnetoManiac’s exchange.
As for general pressure on wakeup in those vids, I don’t know really. I think it’s worth it to go for it, but it’s just personal preference and the amount of confidence you have getting in close against certain characters. Chun’s mid range game is really good though, probably the best thing about her, so there’s something to be said for that.
That backdash out of the scissor kick mix ups is exactly what I was looking for for an answer to it. He sent me to losers bracket with those mix ups, so in this match, I tried to force him to play chun’s neutral game. All I could think of on the fly was ex sbk.
This was actually the 2nd time I fought dictator ever, the first being NKI sending me to losers bracket the first time. So I was quite unsure of the timing of the dash ultra for devil’s reverse so I didn’t risk it. I played more defensively than I usually do. I’ll definitely head to training and get comfortable with it.
I like those jump in mix ups. I’ll have to do that more.
Thanks a lot for the advice. Now, if only I can get that boxer match up down haha.
Cool, can you tell me how Bison counters back dashing? My Bison is lacking severely if I’m getting away with something like that, then. Of course not in the corner though.
Oh my bad, I meant he sent me to losers bracket cause I didn’t know how to deal with those mix ups and all I could think of was ex sbk the second time around. That backdash is golden stuff against it . Sorry for the mix up.
I really like the use of meaty low jab on his wake-up. All of his psycho crushers including EX have a 14 frame startup. Other than that he has no other wake-ups that allow him to punish you for throwing a meaty low jab. Something I heard people used against Rufus never thought it to be effective anywhere else. Definitely a tool in this matchup.

Guys Nemo has figured out a new strategy against Akumas.

as far as safe moves go i dont think bison has anything that he can punish a predicted chun backdash with.
however if we throw safety out the window he can do medium or roundhouse scissors, ex scissors, or psycho crusher… pretty much anything, a GOOD bison however can punish with most of these ON REACTION… which sucks pretty bad cause that means he doesnt open himself up much. also if chun mixes it up as far as what she does after blocking lk scissors it can make bisons job harder cause it takes him more time to process 1 of 4 options taken rather than 1 of 2…
what i like to do is use back dashes and then try to predict when he thinks im going to backdash and do something different, cause all of chuns other options lead to more damge done to her if he predicts well.
but then again i get my ass kicked by good bisons on the regular so my advice may not be sound.

he musta got pissed for missing the dash ultra. I swear to god sometimes the dash just doesnt wanna come out.
Good ending though. I love the comments on the vid. Didn’t know about point blank punisher for fireballs with super. Is that all projectiles, guile rose etc included?
I have a hard time beliving someone can punish a defense mixup of jump or backdash on reaction since they both require different countermeasures.
conk does it to me consistently, punishing my backdash with ex scissors and my straight up jump HK with either st.hk or FA… NOT EVERYTIME for the backdash… but consistently enough to make it a fucking nuisance.
