Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

i’ll add ya but, i can’t upload new replay for some fucked up reason. i won 2 tourney in g2 and still dont get an option to upload and replace my shitty g3 match.

Nice Rufus series… Definitely share your sentiments with that one. Dude gives me headaches.

wow ska watched all your stuff, really impressive

damn, one of the best chun-li i ever seen :china:
At 0.23 sagat is shootin Fireball in close of you and you absorbed it, what a great reaction time :wow: This is what i need, but this cannot be trained :shake:
U have it or not !

But ur skills are really impressive Dude ! Can you give me some tips how to use correctly use this Focus Attacks ?

yeah, GH is very fun to play against. He’s hella clutch in tight spots too.

Also, jumpy ryu is just annoying on sf4. I just want to say i hate the jump physics and huge stages, it would be way easier to punish these guys in previous games, now it just takes a few seconds longer to beat ryus like that.:shake:

madden we need to run back that set we “almost” ran

you aint gonna make it to evo???

say it aint so! we need all the thigh we can muster to put forth a good showing at evo!

so far it seems like you, me, az and MM are gonna be no shows (ima still try to make it)

Damn I wish it were two weeks earlier, cause I’m gonna be there for me 23rd.

Thank you all. You guys better make it to EVO. I want to meet all of you. Everyone on this thread… =)

For anyone who doesn’t visit the fellowship thread, here’s two Chun vids I took from a recent SBO qualifier. The Chun player IS NOT me - actually much better than me.

And here’s a vid I took tonight of me on PSN ruining a Rufus in a G2 match.

I started feeling bad that the Chun in Az’a video was amazingly better than me and I could never be that good

Then I remembered he lives in Japan so its ok

Here’s me getting raped by a Rog at the grand finals.

I was very uncomfortable in this match up as I never fought a boxer that didn’t take my zoning crap and rushed me down.

I have a general idea on where to improve but feel free to give me in sight or just straight up tell me I suck lol.

Things, I’m noticing a little about my gameplay. On wake ups, I was throwing out cr.lp’s when he wasn’t even close and ended up eatting cr.hk. It might been because of the pressure or what not but either way, that has got to stop.

I’m a little undecided on saving for super for this match up but that’s because I’m not confident in my ability to do cr.lp s.fp link as my bnb here. Though, I’m wasting meter. I’ll have to work on that and with p-linking, it should boost my success rate.

I was throwing out shit that wasn’t needed to be like trying to psychic his jump with s.fp but ended up going falling into a ex dash punch. Need to make myself to reaction AA rather than psychic.

Ex dash punch, I should just be throwing. I’m trying to cr.mk under it and I know I should be throwing. My indecisiveness got me hit by it.

My execution was pretty shoddy. Missed ultra and ex legs all over the place.

Criticism are welcomed. Hopefully with this I can up my anti-boxer.

here are some videos from the first tournament in which i used chun.

tips, suggestions, and criticism are welcome. a couple of things:
[LIST]
[] my execution with chun still needs work.
[
] i’m not sure if you guys can tell from the videos, but i use neutral jump roundhouse a lot.
[] normally, i do terrible against rufus. the day of the tournament must have been my lucky day.
[
] i got destroyed by ryu. i wound up switching to ken for the very last match of the tourney.

Just watched a few of str[e]ak’s videos.

The first Ryu video, I thought you didn’t really do anything wrong the first round. Although, you didn’t seem to notice how keen he was with jab-shoryuken reversals. It should only takes one of those during one of your strings to warn you that he’s buffering reversals. The next time you put him in blockstun you should break up your string with just block and let him whiff it into a beefy combo. Unlucky with the dash ultra, I thought.

I’m not entirely sure what went wrong for you the 2nd round either… the air tatsu obviously put you in a bad spot, but you already noted you use jsu.rh alot, maybe you should dial that back a bit. Also, when you ended up in the corner I would’ve gone for ex.sbk when he went for the second combo, starting with the crossup.

Match 5 vs Rufus, I thought in round 2 you zoned him really well… nice job on that. But, in the first round I felt you were giving up space too quickly, by building charge only by using backwards (at the end of the round you basically walked half the stage without any action). I’d adopt more of a stop-start style with building your charge using back->downback. That way you can catch your opponent trying to press forward too quickly as well as not cornering yourself quite so fast. I noticed you did the same thing in the Zangief matches too, and it put you in the corner pretty quickly… It didn’t cost you any rounds though.

I enjoyed watching those, thanks ^^.

Okay, that, that was interesting. Watching a very good player who doesn’t doesn’t seem to have the character down pat explore her options and get most of his damage from fundamentals? That’s something I’d be interesting in seeing more of.

i didnt see that vid of Ed Ma’s chun. that was interesting stuff. i wonder how much he played her on sf4, looks like he tried to take alot from 3s and ST and throw it into 4. really good poke useage… might have to take some stuff from him heh. i think if he used ex legs more, those matches would have been tipped heavily. alot of crouching jab combos never turned into cr.lk into ex legs, instead he would miss the link into st. hp. i understand wanting to save bar for ex bird and to build up to super, but yah… just some tips for you ed ma, cuz i know you lurk chun forums lol. either way… those vids are pretty cool heh.

yeah, i got hit by way too many SRKs during those matches. i really should’ve caught on to that. i didn’t get the chance to play many ryus before the tournament with chun, so i kinda panicked whenever he got close.

yeah, i have a bad habit of just walking back and not realizing what i’m doing until it’s too late.

thanks for all the suggestions.

Nice! I didn’t know this, is there any other info on this? can you only do it in certain situations. What’s up with this? Can someone 'splain?

Me & my lil brother will definately be at EVO this year. I’ve spread signed up. I was hoping to see a bunch of you guys there. It’s just such a great atmosphere. You guys need to man up & make the trip.
