I don’t agree with the “amazing chun” written in the desc or the choice of ultra, but a win is a win I guess.

Not going to say the Chun was bad, but he certainly wasn’t “amazing.” He was getting away with a lot of rushdown gimmicks that work better online than offline.

Also, if you have a dizzy and a chance to kill, why in the world would you give it up? He had Guile stunned in the corner and does nj.HP > cl.st.MK… like… what?

im pretty sure he was trying to do hk xx ex legs… i have been there lol

Why ultra 1 against Guile though? His fireball recovery is so fast it would seem like suicide to ultra that on reaction.

Sonic boom is very punishable by Hosenka/U1, you just have to learn the timing. I personally listen to the in-game sounds. You could also reaction dash U1 when he winds back his arms/before he fires. It’s just a different reaction punish compared to Hadokens or other fireballs.

EX Sonic boom moreso, it’s a fast startup but bad recovery.

you usually cant hear anything at a tournament though

When you hear the “so-” you can U1/dash 1 from there since sb recovery is pretty good.

Or look at his arms if the sound isn’t a reliable indicator. When he winds back to release a sonic boom, it’s usually the cue for a response ultra.

if you cant react to sonic then dont use it, even guile players know that u1 is a very important tool for chun in this mu.

yeah that´s a problem, i just hate ppl shouting in your ear Dx

honestly, the way I approach the match with guile is to just get him in the corner. I usually use U2 in this match as a way to get more damage on my combos

as you may know im a kikosho lover

but against guile and juri i have learned to use u1

i have always feel that chun ultras are good and you can play every mu with either ultra, the only problem are the purist

I definitely agree that U1 is a vital tool in the Guile matchup, especially if you show you can react / predict well. It changes the dynamic of how and when Guile has to use it to zone.

Although I’m still stuck using U2 against Juri lol

against heavy zoner juris u1 is very handy, against “gimmicky” oriented juris u2 is more than enough

Yeah U1 is preferable, but it can be an either ultra matchup.

With Juri I still struggle getting the timing for U1. I’ve been using U2 since Super against her :\

Using U1 against Juri takes a bit of getting used to, but most of it is learning to react to her stuff (e.g. U1/dash U1 on stores/releases, blocked pinwheels etc). U2 is a good Ultra against her too.

U1 for Guile. If I can ultra through a SB, great. For me it has a better use though - Chun can stand around sweep distance and still threaten Guile with her ranged pokes, FA, and Hasanshu. FK beats all of these options, but the beauty of the spacing is that he wouldn’t be able to FADC it if Chun did nothing. U1 is an excellent punish in this situation.

Juri…as much as I love U1, I go U2 with her. If she corner juggled I’d gladly use U1. I did try out U1 for awhile to at least threaten the fireball usage and as a blocked Pinwheel punish. I was fighting a really good Juri in the arcade and using U1, and he was giving me zero opportunities to land it. I switched to U2 and started having more success against him.

the thing about U2 with Juri is that I went to a tournament where I played a really skilled Juri player, and I was using U2. In the second match I was clearly winning, but visibly struggling because of how damn good Juri is at zoning. I eventually lost, and I do blame U2 because the entire screen was filled with FBs.

like i said both ultras are good against juri, you just need some judgement about the juri´s play style.

Az i dont know if you have notice but each time juri store a fb you can punish with u1, any ex release -> u1 punish and even normal release can be punished if your microzoning is on point.
