Or there are more Honda players than I thought. And…dude, it’s a vid vs Zangief. She’s gonna get shat on there for sure, because that’s traditionally a match in her favor too. I never did see an SF4 Akuma-Chun vid where Akuma was leading the race in cheers either. :))

LOL where did you get that from? It’s not so one-sided. I was going through various XBL-themed SF4 threads and the general consensus was “Ryu and Ken AGAIN in Endless? :((”
But yeah, that being said, shotos are fairly easy to pick up and play (more so in SF4), so there will always be shotos wherever there’s SF.
Don’t you use Gen? Wakeup/damage aside, I think he has similar problems/hard counters and is just as hard or even harder to master than Chun for higher level play.
Just how do you guys have the patience to stick with Chun Li as your main?

-That and I’m stubborn, invested way too much time on SF4 Vanilla/Super Chun to really switch gears. I tried alts and sucked. I might pick up Ryu or E. Ryu, but zzzzzz
-And no-one here is playing SFxT offline anymore and the country has generally soured on that, so there’s that too. As an aside, people especially the young ones aren’t really respecting the old games, though, so I’ll probably pick up GGPO (and MvCO and Darstalkers) soon…
I’m not a big fan of Ibuki either, she feels like get a knock down and begin auto-pilot. Chun Li never has an auto-pilot moment as far as I know.
I frequent these vids and notice shoto players like jyobin (Ryu) and playerjun (Ken) seem to have a pretty huge fanbase. Aside from that, I never see as much hate for shoto characters as I tend to see on a Chun Li vid. Like I just mentioned, Chun is no auto-pilot character. You almost have to win by pure luck and smarts than anything else. You are right I main Gen now (nice of you to remember!) but with Gen he can out-smart opponents and land huge damage. With Chun, how long can she out-smart an opponent landing those throws, normals, an ex.leg or two, before they get adapted? Hell, Ibuki only needs to out-smart her opponent once and then it’s vortex madness.
It’s all up to the Chun player to adapt and remain in her optimal range. Again, the burden is on the Chun player to adapt. In fact, what I think you’re describing are signs of an autopilot Chun (just add some dashes/backdashes and no character specific gameplan), so of course that would be easy to download. Better players would know how to mix it up a little.
It’s not too different from a Ryu having to outplay his opponents at high level because his toolset and what he can do is an open book. Okay, maybe a bit harder because lolChun on wakeup and she doesn’t have an SRK, but still.
Also, you’re doing yourself a disservice by hanging around YF24 for too long. I stopped taking the channel and the Jyobin followers too seriously after this got uploaded. They’re no different from stream monsters, man.

Seriously? But there aren’t many channels out there that uploads SFIV videos sadly. I remember watching that Zang vs Ryu match, now why can’t Chun players have a fanbase like that? lol

yoga´s channel has become in a sort of Jyobin fanclub, i have stopped watching vids from his channel as he only shows silly matches of this ryu mashing hard against a few top players here and there… the problem is that Jyobin never loses in those videos so ppl in the comment are all like “Jyobin is a beast” and i pretty sure that his win/lose ratio is not that impressive, you cant do 3 overheads in a row all day w/o being punished and 2 fights from a set are very misleading to say the least.
As 4neqs said part of it is past rep. There’s this stupid idea that she was top tier in Super…but she wasn’t. The Japanese point chart that came out only a few months after Super was released had her at 2nd in the game or something, which was silly. But there are people who still believe she was top, when she’s never been top tier in any version of SF4.
That, and flowchart Chun is kind of annoying to fight against. Walk backwards, Kikoken, annoy you to death with her buff normals. Backdash if in trouble.
I started playing Chun during the location tests for original SF4. In this game she fits my play style the best. I’ve put too much time/work in with her to drop her now.

the nemo fights are agaisnt a local rog from my scene, he knows the mu as we used to play a lot, but for some reason he kept falling for some silly baits and wake up ultra here and there lol
Yeah, U1 against a rog usually doesn’t work iirc, they don’t often expose themselves with punishable EX’s
