Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

Yeah i’ve heard people say that you can punish a store but that seems hard. But I dont know the Juri match up well either because

a) I always used U2 until recently
b) Almost every Juri I play doesnt requrie the use of U1

It’s been awhile since I played around with it in training, but IIRC your reaction speed has to be on point to punish a store/release. Not SB reaction good but still pretty fast. Chun can sit down and make Juri think about not throwing FBs but for me personally this is a match where Chun wants to take the fight to Juri and I need to be mobile. So U2 works better for me in that respect. I’ll use HSU as well as dashes and focus dashes to close the distance. I try to aim for the store if I’m going for HSU or sweep. On releases I’ll HSU the low fireball, focus dash the mid and then just walk under the high one.

But Juri is still a match I don’t have a lot of experience with and I think ultra choice really comes down to the Chun and the Juri player’s playstyles. I can’t really say which one is better.

I find it easier to punish her stores than her releases. I played a heavy zoning Juri in tournament and was down 3 rounds about to lose the set, then I punished one of her stores with ultra. I dunno if he was just shaken by that afterward, but it really threw his zoning game off and allowed me to come back fully in the set. This usually happens when I can do this to Guile players’ sonic booms too (but on the rare occassion that I miss… I’ll be the one shaken and probably lose unless I can get him on a 2nd attempt).

The scariest thing about using U1 for me, is how well my opponent can play around it. Forcing them to play around it is also my favorite thing about it tho.

Wow, the XBL/PSN uploaders have become more gimmicky with their thumbnails… no doubt the result of YogaFlame and SSF4EVO. :looney: Chun at the beginning, 4:05, 8:24, and 10:22.

One of the weirdest casuals/practice games I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t tell you the last time I saw a Ryu with U2.

More recent Nemo. (thanks to the FB Chun group)

I finally got Fraps. I can record again.

Too bad I’m ass at this game.

Still being uploaded, but eventually my first new video in a long-ass time will be available here:

fun fact

akuma´s sweep can be punished by super and he cant cancel it into u1 to save his ass.

Can’t he cancel into Super though if he has meter?

I always thought he could.

I played around with it, doesnt seem like he can use his super against chuns super. Most Akuma’s shouldnt have full meter by that point anyway. Akuma should be using his meter a lot to extend combos and to apply pressure

he cant do anything

chun super being 2+0 is just gdlk

yeah I never really thought about super much in this match. Do you guys think its more valuable to stock up bars for super, or to give damage when you can (ex legs)

I’m kind of torn on this one. The matchup is bad, so one side of me thinks its worth it to just go in for the kill asap. The other side says having super and ultra 1 stocked really shuts down a lot of his options.

Not to forget that his far HK is -2 on block…

Forgot a couple, oops. iirc some are more of trying to teach the old timers and Tekken players some SF4, here.

if i manage to land one ex legs i tend to go nuts with high&low mix ups and empty jumps into hazanshu/throw, so rinse and reapeat, but only if i certain that my opponent is prone to buy that ie. dont try this against bold players or just random mashers, if they are mashers i just play lame and use super as i see fit.

broly legs very good, got some matches against him!
