And here’s the said Cammy playing his other circle of friends’ Chun. I’m seeing a lot of L1 FA abuse here-- is that one way to approach this matchup? I was under the impression that Cammy could break through these rather easily, but I’d be more than happy to be proven wrong.

hm. She can stop focus with her HK Spiral Arrow if it hits twice, and her spin knuckle. But spin knuckle is pretty slow and HK SA needs to be point blank. So I think all the focus is more to stop divekick pressure than anything. It can really screw over the cammy player if he doesn’t adjust with empty jumps and ambiguous cross ups.
Focus shouldn’t be used against Cammy at all
After talking to the players who were there for the said casuals themselves, turns out the Chun (actually a Makoto mainer) might be semi-trolling. Never mind then…

Nice Chun as always must be annoying to always have to fight Yagami, most matches I see of you are against him and I know you’re friends. Still you probably know the Sim match up better than any other Chun lol… Good play 
Why? What does Cammy have that makes focusing a bad idea? Her throw range is pretty bad, as said HK SA needs to be point blank and her spin knuckle is slow as hell.
st.mp, c.mp and c.mk all cancel into sa which breaks focus every time, and there’s no dashing out of it either.
Doesn’t everyone have some moves that cancel into something else?
Few have far reaching normals that cancel into a special with fast startup that can’t be escaped somehow
like our own st.mp <3
Difference is that unless you are fairly close st.mp x ex legs can be focus absorb backdashed out of, you can never backdash out of cammy doing a normal canceled into SA, nor can you release to beat it out. Even when Chun does st.mp (absorbed), u1 unless they have already commited to backdashing then they can avoid eating the full damage by inputting backdash after the ultra activation has been shown. Luckily, it’s still a very good tactic since most players will try to release their focus to punish the st.mp.
